Chapter 110: Regression

Chapter 110: Regression

Sharon’s POV—

"What are you trying to ask? Ask more clearly!" I said in an annoyed tone.

Why the fuck is he trying to know about me? Does he want to know my weakness? Weakness... I don’t know if I have. Even if I had one, did he think I will tell him? Rozefde estimates himself too much.

His golden eyes levelled me with an inquisitive look. He said, "I want to know why your love depends on convenience. Do you love someone based on some conditions?"

I looked directly into his eyes and tried to find any trace of negative emotions for me. Yet, the only thing I found is... curiosity. He is curious about my mentality. Fine, if he wants to know... I will tell him.

"My liking someone or, loving someone depends on my convenience. Let me tell you one thing. I don’t love anyone, and it will never change. But do I really like them? Rozefde, mortals and immortals... everyone wants people to love them. This love can come in various forms. Validation, lust, revenge, money, kindness, and finally... cruelty. Each of these forms can incite a strong reaction from us. Didn’t you gods liked humans worshipping you?"

Rozefde nodded. Hah! See? This guy is trying to be honest with his feelings.

I continued, "Everyone likes someone to like them. And the same goes for me. If someone likes me, why stop them? It’s their choice. But whether I like them or not, depends on me. But their love should remain bound in a certain boundary, and don’t it should never try to cross. Never. If anything, there love should help me. They should be at my disposal for me to call and use. Like I said before, I never asked them to love. It should be for my advantage. The moment, their love crosses the boundary set by me, it’s no longer for my convenience. It will hamper me, just like in my previous life. They liked my face, nothing more."

"So, you want to use and throw ’them’ away?" asked Rozefde.

I frowned at him. "It’s my turn to ask a question, not yours."

He sighed, "Go ahead."

"Before you left me, back in Aerila’s castle... you said something about regret. Tell me, why would they regret?" What is there for them to regret?

Rozefde slowly lowered his gaze. With a heavy tone, he replied, "This world has seen countless things. And one of them is regression."

My eyes widened in pure shock. ’Regression?’

"You turned the clock back," I stated.

Rozefde nodded and said, "Yes, I did. There is a reason for this, Sharon."

What will make you want to turn back the clock? These words were on the verge of escaping my tongue, but at the end... I stopped myself from asking this question.

"It’s your turn."

Rozefde looked at me and asked, "Will you use and throw ’them’ away?"

"Maybe. Or, maybe not. It depends on ’their’ performance. If ’they’ perform badly, then everything would be over. But if ’they’ perform within my expectations, I will consider ’their’ love. Like I have done with Kaerin and Maria."

Wait. Kaerin and Maria? Regression? What if mix these three characters together? It would certainly explain their guilt towards me. If I am correct, I once dreamt that weird dream. ’She’ told me that I am ’her.’

’OG’ Sharon... what if she never existed in first place?

"What do you know about ’OG’ Sharon? Tell me everything," I asked him.

Learning about ’OG’ Sharon would definitely help me in figuring out the ’regrets’ of both Kaerin and Maria.

Rozefde replied, "Up to now, this world has been made to regress only once. Not by me," his eyes darkened rapidly, "I didn’t do it. Your lovers and admirers. They did it, with the help of... ’him.’

I see. So, if I am correct in my assessment, ’he’ is the outer god. But why did he help them?

He continued, "As for my knowledge about ’OG’ Sharon... it’s very limited. All I know about her is from your novel. Honestly, I was in a deep slumber after my fight with ’him.’ That fight... made me to miss out a lot of things. When I had awakened, the regression process has already started. As for the reason, I don’t know."

"So, you are telling me... you just woke from coma when this ’regression’ thingy happened," I stated.

"Yeah. The only thing I know is, their objective was to change the past. They want to save you or, more specifically the ’OG’ Sharon. Their regret made them do that."

So, it’s like that. I closed my eyes and sat on a huge rock. See? Didn’t I tell you? True love is not something which can be attained by everyone. No, if I am to be honest... no one can attain it. That’s what true or, real love is. Kaerin and Maria... nope, all five of them turned back the time because they felt guilty towards me or, if I am to be specific... ’OG’ Sharon. Everything they have felt is only for ’OG’ Sharon. There was a question in my mind. What if I was ’OG’ Sharon? But now, it doesn’t matter.

Knowing the reality doesn’t mean one has to accept it as it is. No. No one can. The same goes for me. I know it very well that I am hypocrite. A part of me wished their feelings to be real. Even if I was ’OG’ Sharon... like I had said before, it didn’t matter anymore. The feelings weren’t sincere in the first place. But my feelings weren’t sincere also. A relationship built on lies is doomed to be destroyed.

Fine. This ’love’ is also within my convenience. So, it didn’t matter. If I can use their ’love’ for my advantage, then it’s fine.

"Are you okay?" asked Rozefde.

"I am fine," I replied blankly.

Rozefde didn’t look convinced. Hesitating, he said, "If you say so. It’s not for me to pry on."

I snorted at his words. ’Pry?’ This bastard has practically inserted his nose into my relationships.

"What do you want from me?"
