Chapter 109: My Love Depends on Convenience

Sharon’s POV—

"In this world... people existed similar to my standards. It wasn’t that people changed. They remained the same... but they were powerless. I am the emperor. What the fuck they could do to me? I can roam freely. There is nothing I can do. People love me. Yet, there are some people who hate me... yeah, it’s alright. Rozefde, did you ever see my previous life face?"

"No," replied Rozefde.

"I disfigured my face."

He flinched at my words. Hah! To see a god, especially the leader of gods to flinch at my words... is really fucking crazy. I am not a good person, and I never claimed to be one. I am fucking two-faced, and an insincere person.

"You disfigured..." Rozefde’s words trailed off as if he couldn’t believe that I would do this to myself. I know it’s surprising, and even till this very day, in a new world, I still find it surprising.

"I disfigured and hid in my house. The people, who were offended by me... could never find a trace of me. I destroyed every single thing," I stood up and walked towards him, "I started writing novels. They earned me money and fame. Although, the fame-part is fucking useless. You won’t believe this world has so fucked up people. They are mentally messed up! Every one of them! Men! Women! Everyone. They just want an outlet to fulfil their desires! Do you think reincarnation will solve all our problems? Nah, it won’t."

"When you became my ’system,’ I never thought my life would be magical. Not even once. Also, I never thought would help me selflessly. You had your objective, and so did I. It’s like you scratch my back, and I scratch yours. Don’t you want to get rid of me now? I have scratched your back for a long time. But whatever I did... Rozefde, the profit was all yours. He said, "Stop your nonsense! When did you doubt me? How could you hide it so well?"

"Rozefde, it’s not that I never doubted you. Nah... I know, from my years of experience, what to question, and what not to. When you were with me, I only worked my brains on what was needed for my survival. Until the ’Aerila’ incident, I never gave any thought of uncovering the mysteries surrounding me. No, Sir! Never! Rozefde’s golden eyes narrowed. He couldn’t believe that I would deliberately allow him to control me.

"You would allow me to control you?" he asked sceptically.

I nodded my head in affirmation and said, "I would have. There was no doubt about it. But now? I won’t. Unless, you answer my questions. See, Rozefde... you are not in charge here. I am, and I will always be. It’s not that I am too smart for you or anything. Perseverance and the need to adapt makes me look into those spots where everybody else fails. A genius would tend to ignore unnecessary things whereas, I, a ’scavenger’ would find them useful. Anything for survival! Right?"

A trace of hesitation went past his face. The iron is hot, let’s hit it with all my strength! "A few questions, and I promise you... Rozefde... you and I, are going to be partners once again. Tell me everything."

Rozefde took a step back. His eyes were full of tension. An internal battle was going within his mind. One side wanted to accept my deal, and the other side wanted to refuse my deal. But we all know the outcome.

"What do you want to ask me? This time, I will answer all your questions. But before that you have to answer some of my questions."

He accepted the deal.

After so much negotiations, I have reached this stage.

"Fair deal. It’s only fair if I also answer your questions instead. Okay, let’s do one thing. Let’s ask alternatively. You ask me first, then I will ask you, and repeat it... until, all of our questions are answered," I proposed a simple idea.

He nodded, "You ask first."

"Are you with the protagonist? Kelshin, does he know about you?" I asked him.

"No, I have no contact with him," replied Rozefde.

"My turn. When did you first doubt me?" Again, the same question. Argh, it looks like I have hurt his ego.

"From the very start," I answered honestly. I would have never revealed it if he wasn’t standing in front of me.

Rozefde nodded his head. I asked, "Did ’OG’ Sharon really kill me?"

"Yes, she did."

"Who do you love between Kaerin and Maria? Or, maybe... both?"

I smiled, "You are awfully interested in my love life, and you asked two questions at once."

"I didn’t ask two questions. It was a single question," rebutted Rozefde.

I shrugged, "Whatever. I will answer the first one. My love depends on convenience."

"Convenience?"

"Ah-ha, it’s my turn! Remember our agreement? So, it’s my turn. Rozefde, why did she kill me?" If I am not responsible for her ’fate,’ then... why did she kill me? There was no reason whatsoever! Did she just murder me out of rage?

"I don’t know."

Rozefde’s made me to snap at him. "You told me! You fucking told me that you would answer my every question! And here you are! You are repeating those same words."

Rozefde took a deep breath and said, "I am not lying to you. It’s the truth. I don’t why she was able to go into your world and kill you."

I scrutinized him intently from top to bottom, trying to find any abnormality in his behaviour. But didn’t find any. He was not lying. If he didn’t, then... how did ’OG’ Sharon come into my world?

"You are not lying. So, onto the next question."

"What did ’convenience’ mean?" asked Rozefde.
