Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 905 - 905: No Mercy

The moment it appeared in his vision, Toby stood straight up and prepared for the worst.

He had often questioned why his special system had been made with a bunch of features that mimicked video games from his old world, especially when this new world was very not game-like, it did not make much sense, but one had turned out rather useful.

Which was the fact that when he or someone he considered an ally encountered an extraordinary foe, he would know as their name and title would appear for him to see, the first time this had occurred was he, Ilona, William and Pierre-Ornée travelled to a piece of land separated from Viridis and encountered a being called 'Nameless King, First Of The Hollows', some sort of remnant creature that had been summoned by the remaining defilers.

Back then, after Pierre-Ornée fought and managed to subdue this being, Toby had genuinely thought that this was about the strongest people could get in this world, that sheer awe and fear the Nameless King had inspired had made it seem like he could end the world if given enough time.

These had been far simpler times, indeed…

Right now, his friends and allies were engaged with numerous undeads that qualified to have their name and title appear within his sight, he did not know what was happening over there, but it had to be a massacre, the only good thing was that the priestesses, heralds and ancestors were probably there as well, but Toby could tell, the disaster beasts were closely tied to Loimos himself, so even if they appeared as nothing but giant monsters, they were probably far from being simple opponents that could just be dealt with using overwhelming force.

At first, he had thought that there were only eight of them, but then, Eclipse, The Grand Roc also appeared, and Loimos's name disappeared right after.

This was obvious to the otherworlder, Helena had gotten entangled with a disaster beast, and the pure undead had disengaged the fight, leaving it to his pet bird to deal with her.

'Oh shit! He's coming-' hastily, Toby summoned all sorts of items he had gathered over the years through his special system, arrows, throwable items, all sorts of potions… He swiftly consumed those which should be of aid and tried to calm his heart, but barely a few seconds after his name vanished it reappeared, as Loimos descended from the sky in front of the otherworlder, appearing like a corrupted angel before his black wings disappeared entirely.

"Where did you hide him?" Loimos did not bother to actually ask the question, he instead used the death tongue to try and force an answer out of Toby immediately, the mere words nearly knocking him down as he gritted his teeth.

"Heh… I don't- I don't know…" he coughed up blood, as even with the potions supposed to greatly enhance his life force and allow him to resist the undead, he had to use all of his strength to not immediately reveal everything.

Immediately, Toby felt his very mind being grasped, but quickly let go off, as Loimos realised that the living had already taken measures to prevent him from searching in his memories through that sort of means.

So the undead tried the old fashioned way, moving faster than Toby could perceive, he sent a shock of lightning through his nerves, to no effect.

"My- My bad… I must have eaten something to nullify all pain…"

His right arm fell off and decayed away into dust, blood pouring out without stop.

Toby could not feel any pain right now, but he definitely understood that he was going to die, but what difference did it make? To die after revealing where he had hidden Milo's unconscious body, or to die after holding his ground? He wasn't an idiot, he knew that Loimos would murder him anyways and call it a mercy.

The undead went through the possible ways to make Toby speak right now, but the only method that would currently work could not really be achieved, as his rabbit girlfriend was not anywhere nearby.

Since Loimos could not get anything from him, the undead simply swiped his hand, decapitating the bespectacled otherworlder without a shred of hesitation, granting the blessing to one who had evaded it for far too long, the remains were consumed by rot before the realm could break them down into spirit life.

'Milo should have recuperated since long' Loimos had had a theory that Toby was merely a bait for Milo to sneak up on him, but it seemed like the golden boy was indeed still knocked unconscious somewhere.

The problem was that Toby had most certainly used one of his 'system items' to conceal him, probably underground.

So, from his helm, Loimos seemed to puke out a collection of wriggling and crawling insects on the ground, each of them skittering away or burrowing into the ground for him, seeking his target.

Loimos stepped to the side, evading a downward slash.

"Am I too late to help the otherworld boy?"

Loimos did not respond to that inquiry.

"...I guess he did not spill the beans though, if you're still standing here like an idiot" with a smile of crooked teeth, the old emerald folk infront of Loimos casually dusted his shoulder.

"Forget Milo, I'll be your opponent… Huh… Am I supposed to introduce myself and all? Not going to respond still? Dammit, it has been something like centuries, or maybe even more than that since I last had a fight, and I got to have to face a boring one? What anguish…"

"...My name is Arzt, I usually carve stone and give names to things, but today, I am feeling young again, so I'll be beating your ass until your sorry"

Arzt was much like other emerald folks, grey skin, smoke hovering above his skin, pupils and irises that changed their shape every so often… But he was also different, for he was no practitioner of either sun worship or beast worship.

He was a tall man, impressively big now that he wasn't sitting upon the ground with his back crooked in a most awful manner, still resembling a hermit who had just left his cave after years of gathering filth.

"I already know your name, Loimos, what a name for a corpse to have! Work of the system, I am sure…"

Wielding a sword made out of stone, he pointed it at the undead.

"I have heard of your kind many times before, rarely in a good light, and I have just been itching to face one of you myself, I honestly never expected that two would appear in the same world…"

And with that, the old carver went on the offensive.
