Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead -
Chapter 866 - 866: Growing Quickly
Following the spreading of Sonnenträger's name, quite a lot of the people from outside the realm were swarmed by past memories they were certain had not existed before, although, not everyone from the outside had this event occur to them, which implied that even with the 'fix', they had simply never heard of the first hero in their lives, yet, the otherworlders got a handful of past memories resurface as well, though, far less than natives of the world, still, even they who had been here for far less time and had not experienced a childhood in this world had gotten some.
As for the emerald folks, none of them whatsoever had memories resurface, which made sense, their had lived in this realm since the dawn of their existence, a realm which was amongst those that did not possess a portal naturally out in the world somewhere, one needed to create or find a way in there to set foot in the Emerald Realm.
So, the legends of the first hero had never reached them…
After everyone remembered Sonnenträger, not much happened however, and Milo feared that the amount of livings left simply was not enough, Thanatok had said that he should develop his golden mana and spread the hero's name, however, it was not unlikely that the latter was simply lacking, to pull the golden champion out of his abnormal non-existence, many more people that should have memories of him in some would need to be told his name.
Or so Milo assumed, the first method was for him to develop his powers, which was easier said than done as although he had good control over the golden mana, he was painfully aware that it was mostly a mystery to him, his golden mana was powerful beyond belief, having the ability to pretty much bypass all defences, all durability, cancel any energy or power that wasn't itself- As Toby would put it, Milo's golden mana was overpowered and could technically allow him to inflict damage upon beings far more powerful than himself.
But it was still limited by the one wielding it, Milo was fairly certain that during his first, short clash with Frenand back when the undead had just arrived into the realm, that the gold had been far more efficient against the lieutenant than it had been during this second confrontation.
One could just chalk it up to Frenand simply putting more focus on his guard after already getting a taste of it and understanding how harshly it could affect him, but that simply did not feel correct, Frenand was a straightforward warrior, he fought without any weapons, his body was simply powerful to begin with, and he used regular mana to further enhance himself, with such a simple set of capabilities, it seemed far from likely that he could just defend so well after only seeing the gold once.
However, if it wasn't solely personal talent that had allowed him to take hits after hits without falling, then why hadn't all of the undead elites Milo had destroyed not also been let in on how to not be instantly vaporised once the golden mana was injected into them?
He was deep in thought as he sat on the porch of his home, since the first battle with the undead, they had not shown back up again, which he did not consider to be a good sign at all, well, they had not made a move to advance, but they were definitely still watching, they had stopped bombarding the barrier, supposedly having figured out that this would work at their disadvantage, and were instead just waiting for anyone to poke their head out to shoot them dead.
Much attention was on the west of the realm, nobody wanted the undead to settle down anywhere other than the south, handling them when they could only come from one direction was already a hassle, let alone two, or three…
Right at this instant however, whilst pondering, Milo was watching his children run around, despite their small bodies, they radiated energy at all times, they had gotten quite frightened when the undeads had been hammering the barrier back then, but they got over it rather quickly.
Neither he nor Helena had told them that Milo had very nearly lost his life during that battle, somethings were best left unspoken, there was no need to bring up this catastrophic scenario into their heads without reason.
They firmly believed that the undeads would not succeed in their invasion attempt, no matter how much their mother and father might say that things were very dangerous, the kids simply believed that nothing could go wrong, that kind of naive enthusiasm was soothing, everyone else, even if also enthusiastic, there was that undeniable tension that could be felt behind their words.
He sighed, and looked forward, Lizi had not given up on wanting to learn swordsmanship, and currently, Antieeld was here to show her the ropes, he hardly even saw his oldest so attentive for such long stretches of time, so clearly, she had found her passion.
The younger siblings didn't show that much interest in such an activity however, they might think that it looked neat and that their big sister was super cool, but as far as actually wielding a sword or anything else went, they weren't big on it, at least not yet, they were all trying to emulate their mother instead.
Young children trying to cast spells at random was the perfect recipe to give their parents white hair, so Milo and Helena had to constantly check if their energy was actually flowing or not.
"How is she doing?" he felt Helena's hand land softly onto his shoulder, he turned his head to the side.
"Honestly splendidly, I am not expert on swordsmanship, but it looks like she's a natural at this" he responded, having seen multiple great swordmasters wielding their blade before, and furthermore, Lizi was just absorbing everything Antieeld was teaching her like a sponge.
"I see" Helena leaned forward and kissed her husband on the side of his head, saying something in a low tone in his ear.
"Louizon is starting to make her inner mana flow"
"Louizon? That's- This is not good" he muttered, out of all their children, their second had a certain appetite for destruction, it was pretty cute right now, but if she started casting spells, it might actually be disastrous.
As they spoke about the best course of action to deal with this nascent issue, they felt something trickle into their minds through the sun's emerald light.
The undeads were on the move.
