Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 865 - 865: Fixing The World

"Sonnenträger" he said, watching as Minli blinked and didn't show any reaction for a few seconds, before finally raising an eyebrow.

"Isn't that the hero who felled the abyssal dragon, who- Wait, where did I hear that from?" the healer was confused, for a moment there, she thought that Milo was just messing around as she was confident that Sonnenträger was a well-known figure, appearing in countless records for incredible feats, and even in fairy tales.

But upon actually speaking about it aloud, Minli realised that something was off…

She scratched the side of her head, deep in thought, attempting to recall where she had even heard about that story, it was so vivid, a tale from even before the undead war, yet, it had survived, intact countless centuries later, people still speaking of it with bright eyes as though it had happened just the day before.

In the far past, there had been a legendary hero, so bright, so brilliant, so grand- That no other hero or champion seemed to matter next to him, a man of countless titles- Golden Star, Goldwalker, The First And Only True Hero- Sonnenträger.

Of countless accomplishments, just as Minli thought more deeply about it, many of them seemed to spontaneously appear within her mind, his victory over the abyssal dragon, a vile creature that had emerged directly from the Abyss itself- His dispelling of an infestation of beings from the True Void- Defeating a great creature that had emerged from the White Bog…

When he had dispatched all of the creatures scorched by the flames of Hell, exterminated the beasts plagued by sin, and so many others… Many of those things that he slayed, Minli had not even known the existence of until right this instant.

And then, she finally remembered where she had heard all of this- These had been stories her parents used to read to her before bed, legendary exploits that made the imagination of all children run wild.

"-How? What are these memories?" the healer had to take a seat on the nearby stool as a feeling of vertigo washed over her, saying it was weird would be a vast understatement, it was like her memories had just been tampered with, like things had just been added retroactively directly within Minli's mind, Milo, when he actually said the name outloud was also suddenly confused as he too remembered things he was fairly certain had never happened.

Words coming directly out of David's mouth about Sonnenträger, the same occurred for some patients in the room that could actually hear what the two had been talking about, but this only happened to those who had come from outside the realm it seems, emerald folks were not affected by the mention of the name.

After several minutes, Milo and Minli remained silent, the memories had gone beyond what they first remembered, at first, it seemed like it was all located in their childhoods in the form of stories they had apparently been told many times, but then, it got worse as they remembered occasions upon which people they knew and could meet right now, had mentioned the herp as well, and even times during which they had themselves spoken of it like it was normal and something they were perfectly aware of at the time.

And eventually, they felt like this was no fabrication, but rather, that the sequence of events had been fixed, this was how it was always meant to be, but previously, something had obscured it all, now that this seal of sort of lifted, the past was changed, made to comply with the reality that should have always been.

Sonnenträger had always been a name they knew of, Milo's elemental affinity had always been likened to that of the mythical hero…

The memories were not fake, the world itself had simply corrected a mistake that had gone on for an indefinite amount of time.

"Is… Is that what Thanatok meant?" Milo couldn't help but mutter his inner thoughts, half-dazed by what had just happened, Sonnenträger had apparently done something very drastic so as to not grow old and pass away, having basically erased his own existence, remembering him, fixing that deliberate erasure of his own deeds and very being was what would allow the golden hero to emerge once more.

How Sonnenträger had done such a thing was of little importance right now, but one simply could not help but wonder how this was even possible.

Milo attempted to rise up, wanting to tell others about it so that they could remember as well, but that instantly took Minli out of confusion as she slapped the stick she held against his chest.

"Still no moving!"

"But we need to spread his name-"

"After you are for sure good to go, I do not care, even if that Sonnenträger popped into the room and asked me to let you go, I would refuse! In fact, even if that damned corpse was in here asking the same thing, I would refuse! Healers have standards, you do not move from here until I tell you to, you hear me? I'll go get someone to spread that name, if I come back, and you are not lying down like a good patient, I'll find you, and do something drastic"

Milo slowly laid back down with his hands raised, as though he was trying to calm down a wild beast.

"Good, I have other patients here, they'll tell me if you misbehave!" and then, the small healer quickly went out of the room to go fetch someone to carry the news.

Milo wasn't that afraid of Minli, although she definitely was far more intimidating than a woman her height had any right to be, healers were definitely a rather scary sort…

But he certainly did not want to know what 'drastic' meant, so he remained in place for now, turning his head to the side, meeting the gaze of an emerald folk, a beast worshipper judging by the animal-like ears, his face covered in bandages for the most part, having been unlucky enough to receive a splash of some sort of acidic substance directly to the face and chest, the undeads had plenty of bodily fluids that were acidic at their disposal, so those sorts of injuries were rather common, especially since some undeads would burst with said liquids when you sliced into them.

The beast worshipper's mouth moved underneath the bandages.

"Don't even think about disobeying her, she'll actually find a way to make you cry, I can testify to that- What a fierce woman, I think I am in love…"

Milo blinked a few times, not sure if he should satisfy his curiosity and keep talking to this man, or listen to the idiom 'curiosity killed the cat', and just pretend to fall asleep…
