Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 864 - 864: The Name

With a jolt, Milo woke up, rising upward immediately, only to feel the light bonk of a stick against the top of his head.

"Don't move like that! What if your wounds opened up again, huh? I knew I should have tied you to the bed" right beside him, Minli was standing on a stool, which provided enough elevation for her to hit him over the head.

Instinctively he looked down at his arms, finding them in an absolutely pristine state, not even a single sign of any damage was present on them, Milo looked as good as new.

"I look pretty well healed though… Wait, how is my left hand here? It was ripped off and-"

"Yeah, yeah… I know, it was chewed on and turned into paste, wasn't it? Helena retrieved that as well, I don't know what you were fighting, but those must have been some impressive teeth, I can tell by just the marks that were left on the flesh" the healer replied, not sounding very happy at all, in fact, she sounded quite annoyed as she directed him to lie down and act like a good patient.

"Just because I was able to heal your arms, it doesn't mean that I couldn't have missed anything! You must have been having a fist fight in there, or so I assume from your injuries… So it isn't unlikely that you received some internal damage, I could have overlooked something, so don't move too much, don't stand unless I tell you to until I am one hundred percent certain, I don't care if you can heal yourself, alright? I'll be damned if anyone who comes out of this place has to come back because I was sloppy" Milo slowly laid back down, feeling like a kid getting chewed out my his mom, only that the mother in that scenario was petite girl, and he was a huge man with a full beard on his face.

"Where is Helena? How did the battle end? Is it still going on?" he asked, remembering that the first battle had still been raging when he went through the portal.

"Helena is fine, she is otherwise more careful than you who somehow managed to end up surrounded by undeads, and dragged into another realm, seriously, how did that happen? As for your other questions… The battle is over by now, Helena was only able to come and get you after it ended- The casualty rate was… Small, all things considered, the fight seemed to set on continuing for a few more hours at least, but the undeads retreated out of nowhere" explained Minli, walking away from Milo, it was then that he noticed that the little clinic the healer had set up was currently full of patients, nearly all of them unconscious or asleep, the rest in too much pain to do anything other than stay still and grunt from time to time.

"When they were gone, it felt almost like there had never been any enemy, those bastards, even when defeated, don't leave anything behind, apart from areas scorched by their flames, destroyed by their strikes, or liquefied by their acids… It looked like we had been fighting the air, it looked like we accomplished nothing in the battle" she shook her head.

"You must have noticed that no experience flew into you as a result of defeating undeads, that is an undeniable sign that we are struggling against an enemy that we literally can not defeat for good, people are wondering just what is up with that, any idea on your end?" Minli spoke casually as she changed to bandages of a man who had taken the brunt of a blast of Loimosfire, thankfully, he was a beast worshipper that had chosen a thick skinned beast to commune with, and he had gotten out with deep, but survivable burns.

"I have no idea either…"

"Mmh, so what happened after you went through the portal anyways? Anything interesting happened?"

"I had to fight against one of the undead lieutenants… That guy is just a subordinate, but he was incredibly powerful, he had me- But for some reason, he didn't take his chance to kill me, it was almost like he was trying to beat something out of me…" then again, Milo could also chalked it up to the fact that Frenand was clearly a battle maniac of sorts, and that the only reason he had been spared was because the skeleton himself wanted him to fight back for longer…

But it did not seem correct, at least, it didn't feel right to Milo.

He paused for a few seconds, staring at the stone ceiling, which reminded him that Minli's clinic was in one of the towers of the sun worshippers, it had been a while since he had last seen this place, in fact, he had never even come here to get treatment for any injury of sorts, usually, just his own self-healing was enough.

"I met Thanatok Ynigós" he simply blurted out.

Minli stopped for a second and slowly turned her head to look at Milo, giving him a literal side-eye before calmly walking up to him.

"Milo, did the undead punch you in the head? Where did he hit?"

"Huh?"

"Do not 'huh' me, you just said that you met a man that was dead out of the blue, brain damage is very difficult to heal, even with magic-"

"No, I really did meet him, whilst I was unconscious, I was in some sort of huge grassland, apparently created by Quideos Audit!" he said, the healer not looking very convinced that he wasn't just delusional.

"Let's assume that getting repeatedly pummelled by an undead did not cause brain damage, what did he tell you? I certainly hope the goddamned pure living didn't show up after literally dying to say a bunch of empty words" Minli spoke, but she was definitely channelling mana into her eyes to try and get a good look at Milo's skull.

"Huh…" Milo hesitated a bit, if he was accurate in how the discussion had gone and about its content, the healer would definitely think that he was just spouting nonsense, because frankly, who would believe all of that? He certainly only did because he knew that he could not have imagined such a detailed discussion out of thin air.

So he attempted to explain as logically as was possible, making sure to demonstrate that there were plenty of details and that he remembered the entire discussion, and despite the atrociously dubious claims he made, Minli seemed to relax a bit about checking if his head was alright.

"A third hero, you say? Did he tell you his name?" she asked.

And Milo coughed a bit, making sure to pronounce it in the same way Ynigós had…
