Chapter 204: A Crown For Six Heads
Chapter 204: A Crown For Six Heads
Five black magic circles opened and released five comets, crashing around Dora in a fantastic spectacle. A taste of energy blew the red mist all around, the girls stepping back impatiently. Zuri turned to Dora, eyes wide.
The cloud of smoke rose around Dora, revealing several figures moving around him, and one by one, Mercy, Lilith, Iris, and Morgiana lowered their arms in shock.
"...So what? Is it still just a scratch?" Sigma waved, turning to Gamma.
"I...I was...fucking...kidding."
The five Personas stood alongside the main Dora whose irises had turned white. The girls looked on in amazement. Before them, not one, not two, but six Doras, all radiating a different vibe.
Sigma stretched his joints, looking disdainful, while Gamma and Beta, apparently unwell, coughed slightly. Alpha and Omega observed their surroundings and finally, the main Dora closed his eyes and brought his hand to his forehead.
"DORAAAAAA!" Zuri, with a completely new facial expression, her eyes covered with tears, snot flowing from her graceful nose, rushed towards Sigma, who let out a scream of terror, and jumped on him.
"Oh...the weird one." Gamma waved his hand in front of his face.
"I’m glad she’s finally getting her reward, she must have been so alone." Beta smiled.
As Zuri rolled on the ground with the poor Persona, the four girls looked on in amazement. Lilith pointed a trembling finger at them.
"Wh...what...what..." His mouth never managed to finish the sentence.
Beta turned his gaze towards them and gave them a smile.
"I’m relieved we could at least save these. I was afraid we’d let Morgiana die."
Morgiana flinched at this strange statement, blinking several times as if to confirm that she was not dreaming. Omega looked at the palms of his hands and groaned.
"What a waste of time... you just had to push a little harder, why retreat?"
"Second," Alpha agreed. "Now we lost our advantage and we weren’t even sure she would have a last trump card. We were too cautious."
"Alright, now everyone stays quiet." the main Dora spoke, his eyes glowing yellow. The other three turned to him, Sigma standing painfully with Zuri glued to his left arm.
He took several quick breaths, then his eyes went white and he put his hand back on his face.
"...Damn...I really hope it’s just that stupid mist. Now how many of you can still use their power?"
The Personas looked at each other, a little surprised, and each looked at the palm of their hand.
"We can not?" Alpha said, generating blue particles, but suddenly, all of them disappeared.
Next to him, Sigma snapped his fingers and a golden head identical to Thomas appeared and fell to the ground. Beta’s hand glowed green and Omega’s hand glowed purple. Among them, only Gamma waved his hand helplessly.
"Damn...for real?!"
"How ironic, and I thought Beta was the weak link." Sigma shook his head.
Gamma turned to him, his eyes glowing red.
"Do you want me to show you what I can do with my hands?"
"Please don’t make me fight an underprivileged child."
Alpha and Beta stood between them to hold back Gamma and stop Sigma. Omega, for his part, remained silent, rolling his eyes. All this took place in front of increasingly paralyzed girls, but a sudden wave of energy calmed everyone down.
"What’s so hard to understand about QUIET?! Can’t I have a moment to think even with my clones outside?" Dora roared.
The wave sent Mercy to her knees and made Lilith shiver and immediately drop her hammer. Zuri flinched and hid behind Sigma and Beta. Omega, for the first time, turned his gaze towards him.
"And since when are we following your orders?"
A hand grabbed him by the collar, placing him face to face with the main Dora, both of them gritting their teeth with glistening eyes.
"Since it’s me who has the yellow eyes. Now... You will all show me that I was right not to condemn you to silence and you will follow my instructions. No more useless chatter, valuable for everyone."
They looked into each other’s eyes for a moment then he let go of Omega and walked away, massaging his sinuses and muttering a few words.
The Personas lined up, either displaying indifferent or clearly annoyed faces for Alpha, Gamma, and Omega.
Dora stopped and looked at the four girls, then at Zuri and looked at the horizon. He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes as they turned white again.
"It’s decided, our target will be the Avatar of Wrath. I have no information on him other than this strange mist. It’s the same signature as any other Sin, so I suppose it could be its pressure. A pressure that prohibits people from using magic, but our physical power is unchanged... This means that we cannot use Sigma and Gamma. On the other hand, if we engage in conflict... ."
He placed his right hand on his hip and turned towards them.
"We should divide our power, let’s use the fusion with the physical users to hunt down Wrath. Meanwhile, Sigma and Gamma will go looking for Envy. When we locate one, we move on to the final body."
The Personas looked at each other, and then Alpha scratched his cheek.
"That sounds very stupid. Think about it, we switch if we find one? What if we find them both? We do like with Glutonny and give up an easy target? Plus, that sounds like what happened with her, we’re going at them head-on, no plan, and then we’ll discover that the number 5 was actually stronger than the number 2."
"I agree with him." Sigma sighed. "I don’t want to fight another one after losing so much... you know what. It seems very stupid. Besides, we still have to make sure the other group is alive, so we can, you know, keep our candidates safe... Not that stupid."
The others nodded and murmured in agreement, although the word stupid echoed loudly from time to time. Dora groaned, his eyes feeling heavier and heavier. He watched the four girls remain speechless and sighed.
"Okay, let’s do this instead... Alpha, Beta, Sigma, you fuse. Omega and Gamma, explore the surroundings, try to get as far away from this mist as possible... Instead of chasing Envy, focus on killing every monster... that can be found, and to be clear, in my lexicon, monsters mean anything with a soul stone... Despair, you go back with the other group and make sure the candidates are alive."
"Uh? But I can also fight! I will be more useful to you..." the young girl complained.
"No, you ignorant... You can’t even see how weakened you are right now... Feeling strong... isn’t enough... we need a... clear victory... I... Let’s stick to my plan for now... the instructions are simple..."
Zuri bit her lip and lowered her head. Sigma patted his head. Dora then turned to the four girls who accompanied them and walked towards Mercy.
"Now...let’s see what we can...do with you, candidate of Wrath."
