Chapter 121: A New Day
In the face of dangers, human nature leads to union and salvation is the purest scenario, until the book is closed and they face reality. After Candace’s speech, several movements arose in the Kingdom. People went to the Queen, waiting for her to resolve the situation she had caused.
Some knights tried to stop them but their numbers quickly discouraged anyone from coming forward in the face of such a wave of humans.
They reached the Queen’s mansion with its doors wide open, armed with signs and gardening tools.
They shouted their slogans, insulted the queen and began to revolt.
Inside, the queen was sitting in an armchair and reading a book. Moonra, near the window, watched the people with concern.
"What should we do?... Something like this has never happened before, how can we calm them all down?" He whispered.
"You’re wrong, something like this has happened before." Gloria said without stopping reading.
Moonra looked at us a little surprised.
"Really? When? I’ve never heard anyone tell everything about the Avatars."
The queen massaged her synus, slightly bored.
"I’m talking about this situation, of course! This isn’t the first time people have come to my house and tried to destroy my paradise. I’m used to this and I know how to calm them down."
"Ah? And how? They really seem to hate us."
Gloria closed her book and walked towards the window, next to Moonra. She looked at the familiar scene of people trashing her garden and smiled.
"So nostalgic... But not so hard to stop, just good words to control them."
"Mother, I really don’t see them listening to us."
"Hm? Oh, don’t worry, they’ll always listen, it just depends on how you talk to them."
She opened the window and waved her hand.
Everyone, noticing them, shouted and cursed, throwing projectiles at him.
Moonra flinched and tried to force her to stay away from the window but the queen stroked his head.
"It’s okay, I tell you they will listen, let me take care of it."
"Mother, they won’t listen! They put the Twilight of God on you, there is no escape!"
"Of course I do, look."
She pointed her finger at the people and an orange mist covered them.
They looked around, intrigued by what was happening. Moonra turned to his mother in confusion.
"I just need to remind them why I’m Queen. Starvation"
The orange mist spread around each people for an entire kilometer, followed by everyone’s cries of distress.
They screamed, jostled, fell to the ground, their muscles contracted, their fat evaporated.
Soon, with only the skin on their skeletal bodies, they fell silent, their eyes wide open.
Moonra, in shock, kept his eyes wide open.
"See? Free silence."
Gloria rearranged her hairs and returned to her chair.
"Nosfera, clean up this mess."
Above Moonra, a shadow moved and fell behind him, gradually taking the form of a woman with bat-like features.
"Yes, yes, my queen." She yawned and went out the window.
That day, people remembered an important lesson. No matter how determined they were, no matter how right they were, they were just ants in the hand of a giant.
The news of this genocide sends shivers through the Kingdom, but far from calming it, it only forces its anger on all possible targets.
They started riots in many cities, rebelling against the nobility that the Queen put on a pedestal.
Ambrosia had entered its darkest age.
So days passed, then weeks, then months, and finally it was a year.
The situation in the world was quite worrying and was not improving. The still open Ex-Capital Rift had released various kinds of high-level monsters, traveling across the world.
The number of Rifts decreased over the year, a sign that the Twilight of Goods was indeed engulfing them.
Many things had changed in the Kingdom, Candace became the trainer of all the emissaries of the Kingdom, creating a sort of army with the level of Holy Knights or higher.
Her role in the war against the Twilight of God has made her the face of humanity, the only hope left.
Oddly, and perhaps this is why, the Queen did not retaliate after her speech. She remained in her mansion, alongside her servants and her children, returning to her shut-in habits.
Many times people tried to break into her house, to make her react. They were convinced that she was able to end the Twilight of Gods, but everyone became a grave in the process.
The political situation wasn’t better. Favored for too long by the hated Queen, the nobles were now singled out.
At first, they wanted to side by the commoners, explaining the pressure on them, but when they asked them to share their belongings and renounce to their privileges, they opposed.
Thus the kingdom, already weakened by the presence of monsters in every corner, was also self-destructing by internal wars.
Time flew, fields of flowers became ashes which themselves became fields of flowers.
In this flower field, a boy walked slowly.
His movements showed great fatigue and each step required him to gather all his strength.
He reached an apple tree, but the only fruits available were rotten apple on the ground, some already eaten by birds.
He looked at them for a while, and with a grimace, committed another sin.
[Iron Stomach | Allows the user to digest anything he eats]
Sitting on the ground, he ate the apple, in disgust first, but slowly, the feeling of something eatable filled his heart with satisfaction.
After his makeshift meal, he looked at the setting sun, feeling a little tired. The grass inviting him to sleep, he resorted in spending the night here when a noise startled him.
"Hey, who’s there?!"
Recognizing a man’s voice, he quickly stood up and started running away.
"Fuck! Claudia watch out!"
*ZOOM*
An electrical explosion as the sun set and the boy fell to the ground.
He stayed stunned for a moment, trying to understand what had hit him. Footsteps approaching him, he stood up and leaned against another tree.
To his surprise, his vision blurred and a figure appeared in front of him.
"D-Dad! It was just a boy! Are you crazy?!"
"What?! But I thought... Hurry up, give me my bag!"
The boy could no longer see, but did not need his eyes to understand that he was with a man and his daughter, the girl probably being between 12 and 15 years old.
He shook his head, trying to see the light again, but a gentle hand caressed his cheek.
"It’s a miracle... He’s alive! Dad, let’s take him home!"
"Huh?...But..."
"No but dad, you used the Zap Cannon, how could you use something like that on a human?"
"I-I was scared, okay? It’s not my fault!... But how come he’s alive? I’m sure I touched him..."
"Is that what’s worrying you? Help me get him home!"
The man groaned but was also relieved. They both helped the boy up and brought him to the village.
