Chapter 95: What’s your motive?
Chapter 95: Chapter 95: What’s your motive?
Seeing me standing in front of him, Blake’s lips curled upwards into a smile as well as we locked eyes. "Hey, Aurelia, hey, Xavier, glad to see you here," he greeted. "Thanks for coming down to the studio," he added, smugness radiating from every inch of his skin.
I could see the way Xavier’s posture stiffened and he clenched his jaw slightly as the two men locked eyes for a brief moment.
"Yeah, of course. Xavier and I would love to see you film your first set, you have come a long way," I said nonchalantly with a smile lingering on my lips as I kept my hand on Xavier who only nodded with a slight smile. "You are doing great." For a brief moment, surprise crossed his face, as if he was shocked to hear my soft and gentle tone for once.
I could tell that my words still had some kind of effect on him. Hearing the compliments come out of my mouth, he couldn’t hold back the smile that appeared on his lips.
"Oh, well, thanks."
As soon as the words left his lips, a familiar high-pitched voice reached my ears.
"Oh hi Aurelia, you are here too?"
I glanced over to see that it was Stella who had showed up. Our gazes met and she walked over, wrapping her arm around Blake’s. The corners of her lips curving upwards into a smile as her eyes gleamed with a knowing look.
The air crackled with u spoken tension as silence lapsed between us for a brief moment before I spoke up once again.
"Yeah, I was just telling Blake how I came here to see him film his first set. I mean how could I possibly miss that, right?" The smile on my face widened as I kept my gaze steady.
"Right, of course," she muttered as her grasp on Blake’s arm tightened slightly but it was noticeable. "After all, he did work very hard for this opportunity and I’m really happy for him," she added as she turned to look up at him, her lips curling into a wide smile as she patted his arm.
"You should be," I simply said, unbothered by her obvious affection for my ex-husband. "It is impressive."
At this moment, a shrill voice interrupted us, the tone filled with disdain and contempt. "What are you doing here with that man?!" She spat the words out like they were poison in her mouth, her eyes swept across my body.
I snapped my head around to find myself looking into Laura’s eyes. I watched as she sauntered over to Blake’s side, placing her hand on his arm. "Son, did you invite them or is she here to cause trouble again?" She hissed, the words that left her lips were dripping with accusation and malice. "Did you forget that she almost ruined your entire career?" She snarled with a fiery blaze in her eyes.
"Blake was the one who invited me here," I replied coldly. "I’m just here to show my support."
Stella immediately stepped in, putting her arm around Laura’s shoulders before she could say another word. With a smile on her face, she said, "Auntie Laura, don’t blame Aurelia. I’m sure she didn’t mean it. She must have been guilty and felt bad about it, let’s not make her feel worse already," she said in a soft and innocent voice, batting her lashes.
Laura’s features softened as she smiled at her. "You are always so understanding and nice. You are such a great girl," she praised. "Blake is so lucky to have you."
A soft chuckle left Stella’s parted lips, her eyes filled with satisfaction and joy. "You flatter me... I mean, I was just stating the truth. I don’t want anything to ruin Blake’s special day today."
Blake cleared his throat audibly, interrupting them. He smiled. "Anyway guys, I got to go. They are calling me."
It was at this moment when I noticed Sam walked by, I quickly turned to Xavier, leaning in closer to murmur next to his ear. "I will be right back." The words just left my lips when I rushed over to Sam’s side.
"Hey Sam, remember me?" I asked with a smile.
He whipped his head around to look at me. "Of course I remember you, Aurelia, right?" He asked with a smile of his own.
I nodded.
"So..." he drawled. He arched his brow at me. "What’s up? Is there something you want from me?"
I laughed. "I just wanted to say thank you for helping Blake, and giving him this opportunity to film his first set."
"Yeah, of course, all thanks to the videos you showed me. I think he does have some potential and I wanted to help you."
I grinned, "You are the best, Sam."

The familiar shrill voice rang in my ears once again, echoing in the empty toilet, slicing through the sound of the water running and splashing onto the surface of the sink.
"You shouldn’t have come here," she spat the words out of her mouth, each word was coated with a thick layer of venom.
I snapped my head to the side and found myself looking into Stella’s dark eyes that were swimming with disdain and a hint of anger. We locked eyes as I turned the tap off, and let the water stop running. I didn’t say a word, only walking away when she reached out to grab me by my wrist to stop me.
Her grip around my arm tightened, her fingernails digging into my flesh as she narrowed her eyes into thin slits. "Where do you think you are going?" She sneered. "I wasn’t done talking to you yet."
I yanked my wrist out of her grip. "But I am," I said as my features hardened and I clenched my jaws tightly. "There’s nothing for us to talk about."
She cackled, her laughter slipping through the gaps of her fingers. Then, her expression became cold and her features hardened. "Tell me, what’s your motive, showing up here?" She asked through gritted teeth.
I let out a breath. "Nothing. Blake texted me, inviting me to come down. That’s all."
She kept her gaze steady as she glared at me. She stepped forward, leaning forward and our faces were now merely inches apart, spitting the words out of her mouth.
"I don’t believe you."
