Pampered by my Billionaire CEO Husband
Chapter 88: Accusations & Lies

Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Accusations & Lies

His words elicited loud gasps from the crowd that surrounded us as everyone watched with anticipation written all over their faces, and I was no exception. I turned to face him, looking up at him with my brows knitted together and a surprised expression masked my features as he stared ahead into the people.

Proof? Since when did he have proof?

As my mind continued to buzz with thoughts and my heart raced in my chest, his deep voice jolted me back to reality.

Xavier’s intense gaze was fixated on Mrs Jones as he narrowed his eyes into thin slits, the words that left his lips were laced with malice. "Your husband admitted to me that he touched my wife and threatened to take away her spot at that art exhibition."

"No, you are lying to me! It can’t be true!" Her sharp voice echoed in the exhibition hall, bouncing off the freshly painted walls. She then let out a loud scoff then jutted out her finger to point directly at him while she drew in heavy breaths. "You don’t have any proof, you are just saying it to scare me, aren’t you?" She sneered with a disdainful scorn, her voice was dripping with accusation.

A low chuckle emerged from his lips this time as he raised his brow at her while everyone else held their breaths.

"Don’t believe me?" He snarled. "Maybe this might change your mind," he spat the words out of his mouth as he kept his gaze steady, a knowing look twinkling in his dark eyes.

I watched with a blank look etched onto my face as he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his phone. His fingers hovered over the screen as he maintained a calm demeanour while he pressed the buttons with intention and he clenched his jaws tightly.

I could tell that anger was already pulsing through every single vein inside of his body but he sucked in a deep breath. Pressing the play button on his phone, the familiar voice blasted through his speakers and resounded in the exhibition hall, loud and clear for everyone to hear.

"Didn’t touch her? So... are you trying to say that my wife lied to me?" I could hear Xavier’s voice reach my ears, his tone carrying a sharp edge to it.

Then it was Henry talking and I could imagine the smug look plastered across his face as the memories from that day flooded my mind. "All I’m saying is that she could have misinterpreted my actions. I was just being friendly."

"You call this being friendly? Don’t fuck with me, Jones."

There was a brief pause before I could hear the shaky breath come through the speakers. "Look...I don’t know how –"

"Save it," Xavier cut him off before he could finish his sentence. "There’s no way you can get yourself out of this mess."

"Xavier, come on," Henry pleaded, his deep voice laced with desperation. "Don’t do this to me. You are not going to spread this picture to everyone, right?"

The recording ended there and the place fell silent as everyone only exchanged glances and pursed their lips while thoughts raced through their minds.

A smirk tugged at the corners of Xavier’s lips. "So? What do you have to say about this now?"

Silence stretched between them as tension continued to thicken in the air. Mrs Jones pressed her lips tight into a thin line as she kept her gaze on him, a fiery blaze swirling in the depths of her eyes.

She shook her head. "No," she blurted out, her tone reeking of a blend of desperation and denial. "That recording doesn’t mean anything. He didn’t admit to touching her, he said he was just being friendly and she misinterpreted his actions."

Her eyes widened as her breathing became more erratic with each passing second. "I told you he wouldn’t do this to me!"

Almost as if it was on cue, a man came running into the exhibition hall, a flustered and frantic look masked his features. I looked closely to find myself looking at the same man who touched me and threatened to remove me from the exhibition. It was Henry Jones, he must have heard about the chaos that unravelled and immediately rushed over to do damage control.

We locked eyes momentarily from a distance but he averted his eyes in a hurry, his gaze didn’t linger for more than half a second, almost as if he was guilty or ashamed.

He soon came running to his wife’s side, putting his hands on her shoulders as if to comfort her. "Estella, are you okay? Did they bully you?" He asked, his voice laced with a hint of concern and worry, but it was more of concern and worry for his own reputation and his wife finding out the truth.

She looked up at him with a pitiful look plastered across her face as she nodded lightly and murmured under her breath. "They were saying you harassed her and threatened her..." her voice trailed off, faltering towards the end of the sentence as she lowered her head and I saw the moment where anger and panic flashed past his eyes for a split second before it faded.

She lifted her head this time and their eyes met. "But I know you wouldn’t do that, right?" She was just trying to convince herself at this point, refusing to see the truth.

"Don’t listen to them sweetheart, they are lying to you. You know I wouldn’t do such a thing," he said in a soft tone as he gave her a reassuring smile which only put a smile on her face.

His brows were then furrowed together and a frown was etched between his brows as his eyes scanned the crowd that gathered around us.

"What do you think you guys are doing?! Spreading all these lies and rumours and accusations?" His voice boomed loudly, echoing in the spacious hall as his eyes burned with a fiery blaze and he clenched his jaw. He lifted his arm and pointed his finger towards the crowd before it finally landed on me. "You!" He snarled as he narrowed his eyes to glare at me, disdain and contempt evident in his eyes.

I kept my gaze steady, unfazed by his intimidating demeanour.

He continued when I didn’t say a word. "You did this? You were the one who came onto me and now you are pushing the blame all on me?" He let out a deep chuckle as a smirk played on his lips. "Did you think you could get away with this?" He snarled, mistakenly thinking that I would be rendered speechless and helpless.

But he was far from being right.

As soon as the words left the tip of his tongue, a crazy thought crossed my mind. Without a second thought, I raised my arm and grabbed him by his wrist, catching him off guard as his eyes widened with surprise. Before he could even react or register what was happening, I twisted his arm in one swift motion and a sharp pain shot through his body in an instant, eliciting a gasp not only from him but everyone else watching.

I looked him dead in his eyes before letting the words leave my lips. "This is for twisting the truth and trying to push the blame onto me!" Right after, I kneed him in his groin without a single warning. "And this is for sexually harassing me and threatening me!" I spat the words out like they were poison in my mouth.

I watched with a satisfied smirk as he collapsed onto the ground and his hands flew to cover his groin within a split second as he grimaced in pain, curling up into a ball like a child.

Beside me, Xavier started clapping with a proud smile etched onto his face. "Well done, my wife."

Estella immediately rushed over to Henry’s side, getting down on her knees. "Oh my god, Henry! Are you okay?" She then looked up to match my cold gaze. "Are you crazy?! Have you lost your mind?!" She shrieked, her high-pitched voice slicing through the tension that was thick in the air between us.

Only a low chuckle erupted from my throat as my voice remained unwavering. "Why does it hurt? Is he in pain?" I questioned indifferently.

Henry opened his mouth as though he wanted to say something but the pain pulsing through his body stopped him, instead his wife was the one yelling.

"You are psychotic!" She snarled. "Are you mocking us? Do you think this is some kind of joke?!"

"Oh, no, I wouldn’t dare," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "It was just a slip of my finger and legs, I don’t know what happened," I stated, feigning innocence.

The frown on her face deepened as she glared at me and her cheeks were now flushed red from the anger that was spreading inside of her like a wildfire. "You! Just you wait, Aurelia," she threatened as she inhaled deeply while her heart was pounding against her chest. "I will have the cops arrest you for causing grievous hurt and physical assault!"

I looked at her, arching my brow as a knowing look glimmered in my dark eyes and the corners of my lips curled upwards into a slight smirk.

"Is that so?" I questioned. "I don’t think the police will be here for me."

The words just left my lips when a loud voice pierced through the air.

"Police!"
