Chapter 145: Chapter 145: A crush on my ex?
A wave of satisfaction washed over me in an instant when I saw the look on her face. The colour drained from her face within a split second as her face fell and her demeanour shifted entirely.
Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at me. "You? You are the one funding this movie?" She asked, her voice filled with disbelief as there was an incredulous look plastered across her face. "No...There’s no way..." she muttered under her breath as she lowered her gaze to stare at the ground beneath her soles.
She lifted her head to meet my eyes. "I don’t believe you," she snarled. "You are lying to me."
Another chuckle erupted from my throat once again. "I don’t need you to believe me," I said crudely, my voice cold and icy as I looked into her eyes that were running wild with emotions. The corners of my lips curved upwards into a knowing smile. "You will find out yourself very soon."
"You–!"
She was cut off abruptly as there was a knock on the door. "Stella!" The voice was calling out to her on the other side of the door. Her eyes flickered over to glance at me for a moment before she forced her lips into a smile and pulled open the door.
"Hey Marie, you are looking for me?"
"Everyone is looking for you. There’s lunch prepared outside today," the young woman announced and she met my eyes this time. "Mrs Wilder, we are waiting for you too."
Stella tilted her head slightly to glance at me with disdain and contempt before she walked away with Marie and I followed along behind both of them. Marie had brought us back to the main studio, right in the middle where everyone had already gathered in that huge space.
As soon as we appeared from behind, everyone whipped their heads around to watch us walk towards them and I could only flash them a smile as I waved and quickly approached Catherine.
Catherine looked at me with a smile on her face. "How was the catch up? You guys have been gone for a while."
Of course I couldn’t tell her that I hated Stella’s guts and that she was the woman who stole my husband from me. So, I only smiled and gave her a vague reply.
Without a single warning, Catherine pulled me to stand in the middle of the crowd as she tried to get everyone’s attention.
"Everyone!" She yelled loudly and all eyes were now on us, looks of anticipation hung on their faces. "I have an announcement to make."
"As some of you may have guessed it... or maybe some of you may be wondering..." she began before she turned to gesture at me. "Aurelia here is actually one of our movie’s main sponsors. She, along with her husband, Xavier Wilder are the ones funding this movie and making this movie a reality! Without their generous support, this movie would not have been made possible."
Applause erupted from the crowd and I gave a slight bow as a smile was etched onto my face. We locked eyes from a distance and I watched as both Blake and Stella’s face fell in an instant, disbelief evident on their faces as they stared at me.
"I’m honoured to be here on set today to see the hard work that is being put into this movie and set. And I would like to thank everyone here for their efforts, I can see them and I’m sure this wouldn’t go to waste. My husband and I cannot wait to see this movie come to life." I paused. "To thank everyone here today, we have catered a buffet for everyone to enjoy," I declared, gesturing to the tables set up around us and everyone burst into another round of applause with huge grins stretched across their faces.
The lunch break soon turned into a bonding session among the crew, including myself. Catherine had pulled me along to sit down beside her with everyone else in a circle, as if we were back in school.
Blake and Stella were of course seated next to each other, sitting right across from me. Just like good old times, they have decided to play some classic Truth or Dare as though we were college kids.
Grabbing a random half-filled bottle from the table, one of them set it on the ground, placing it right in the middle of the circle. The lady looked at me as their eyes met. "Aurelia, why don’t you start?" She suggested.
I smiled. "That’s alright. Why don’t we let the main actor and actress start?"
Everyone nodded in agreement and they had no choice but to grab the bottle from the middle. Blake reached forward to grab it and handed it to Stella, letting her go first.
Her eyes shifted anxiously as she spun the bottle and watched it land on Catherine who was right beside me. "Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"How did you and Aurelia meet? Are the two of you friends?" Stella asked casually but her eyes gleamed with intention and a knowing look. It may not be obvious to others but I knew exactly what she was doing. She was digging for an answer.
Catherine smiled as she looked at me briefly before turning back to face them. "I would say we are kind of friends. She reached out to me, saying that she is interested in sponsoring the movie and there you go!" She chuckled. "Alright, my turn."
She spun the bottle and it landed on me. Catherine turned to face me. "Truth or dare?" She asked with a raised brow.
"Truth."
"Well, I know Stella and you are friends...Do you have any secrets about her?" She teased casually and from the corners of my eyes, I could see Stella starting to panic as a flustered expression masked her features.
I smiled, a soft chuckle emerged from my throat. "Well..." I began, my voice trailing off as everyone looked at me with curiosity burning in the depths of their eyes while Blake and Stella both held their breaths. "Did you guys know that she snores when she sleeps?" I made it up on the spot, making it look like we were best friends who often have sleepovers at each other’s place.
Stella let out a nervous laughter as she looked at me. "Hey!" She protested. "Why would you tell them that?"
I laughed. "They need to know how loud it is!" I teased as she laughed along with Blake who appeared equally nervous. "Well, it’s now my turn to spin the bottle." I leaned forward and spun it. It felt like it was in slow-motion but the bottle finally came to a stop and the tip of the bottle was pointing right at Stella.
Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked up and we locked eyes.
I smiled. "Truth or dare?"
"Truth," she answered quickly, her voice laced with a hint of anxiety.
The smile on my face widened as I kept my gaze steady.
"Do you have a crush on your co-star, Blake?"
