Chapter 127: Surprise package
Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Surprise package
I watched as their jaws dropped in an instant and their eyes widened with shock and surprise, carefully examining whatever that they were holding in their hands. Whispers and murmurs started to fill the air and their gaze immediately shifted to look at a clueless and confused Aaron.
His eyes were darting around anxiously as a frown rested between his brows while his mind struggled to comprehend the situation that was unfolding right before his eyes. That was only until we locked eyes from a distance and his eyes flashed with recognition and it finally clicked inside his head what might be happening.
He immediately reached out to roughly snatch the package out of one of his colleagues hands. His gaze flickered down to look at the package in his hands and within the next second, his eyes were swimming with horror and disbelief as he found himself looking at multiple images of him and Stella caught hugging and kissing, along with pictures he had taken with Serena and his two daughters.
A satisfied smile appeared on my face as I saw the colour drain from his face in a split second and his lips were left agape. He lifted his head and his eyes burned with a fiery blaze as he glared at me.
"You!" He sneered with a disdainful scorn as anger pulsed through every single vein inside of his body and his fists were clenched tightly beside him. The next thing I knew, he was marching towards me, pushing past everyone who was standing in his way, closing the distance between us in a few large strides. "You did this?!" He hissed, as his deep voice shook with rage that was quickly spreading inside of him like a wildfire.
Before he could even reach me, Xavier stepped in and grabbed him by his arm, twisting it behind his back and pushed him against the wall in one swift motion.
"Not so fast," he mocked with a slight grin that stretched across his face.
Aaron let out a yelp as he grimaced in pain, probably still recovering from his previous injuries.
"What do you think you are doing?!" He spat the words out like they were poison in his mouth. "Let go of me!" He demanded through gritted teeth as he shoved against Xavier’s tight hold but to no avail.
It was at this moment when their boss came walking out from her office with a frown on her face, her eyes swept across the place. "What is going on here?" She questioned as she folded her arms over her chest.
A soft chuckle emerged from my throat as I glanced over to see the angry yet helpless look that was plastered across his face, my lips curved upwards into a satisfied smile as I locked eyes with Xavier. I turned back around to face the crowd that had already gathered around us, watching on with anticipation hanging on their faces, eager to find out what the whole commotion was all about.
Atlas, my eyes landed on the boss standing not too far away from me. "You might want to hear what your employee has been up to," I commented as a smirk tugged at the corners of my lips. "I don’t know how many of you may know, but..." I drawled, savouring every syllable like a delicacy as my eyes glistened with a knowing look and I locked eyes with Aaron.
I jutted out my finger and pointed right at him. "This man over here," I began, my tone carrying a slight edge to it as my voice pierced through the tension that was already brewing in the air. I held up the picture of him with Serena and the kids, a family picture they had taken during last Christmas. I held it up high for everyone to see, putting it on full display. "He has a perfect family with a loving and loyal wife and two adorable and beautiful little girls."
Aaron’s eyes widened with anger when realisation dawned upon him and he finally understood what was happening. He continued to struggle, trying his best to break free from Xavier’s tight grip as he shouted and screamed, his loud voice reverberating in the not so big office space.
"Stop it! Don’t you dare say another word," he warned, his deep voice heavy with a threat as he glared at me with narrowed eyes, fearing that his career may be at risk. Yet, I remained unfazed by his threat.
Instead, a scoff left my parted lips this time as I ignored his protests, barely sparing him another glance.
"But guess what?" I said, my voice remained unwavering. "He thought that they weren’t good enough for him, so he went out and cheated on his wife with another woman," I announced as a smirk tugged at the corners of my lips.
A loud gasp erupted from the crowd as they cast judgement glares at him, some even began to gossip among themselves, only further fuelling the anger that was swirling inside of him.
"You liar! That’s not true, I didn’t cheat on my wife! I swear I didn’t! You don’t know what you are talking about! Don’t believe her, this woman is trying to ruin my reputation!" He cried out loud, his voice reeked of desperation as his eyes darted around.
I stepped forward to get closer to him. "Are you sure?" I taunted as I raised my brow at him, amusement dancing in my dark brown eyes. "These pictures say otherwise!" I snarled as I threw the pictures in my hand right on his face before they fell to the ground.
"You–!"
I turned around, my back facing him this time as I gazed towards the crowd. "You know..." my voice trailed off. "Life sure is funny. The woman he has been cheating on with turns out to be the woman my ex-husband cheated on me with. Well, someone sure is busy, alright," I remarked as a chuckle emerged from my throat.
I watched as their eyes grew wide with shock and even excitement for some of them, as though they were watching a drama unfold right before their eyes.
As soon as the words left the tip of my tongue, Aaron somehow managed to breakfree from Xavier’s grip. It might be the adrenaline that was pumping inside of him mixed with the anger and impulse that clouded his judgement, but before I knew it, he was dashing over towards me with his fist raised, ready to swing down on my face.
"You bitch!"
