Pampered by my Billionaire CEO Husband
Chapter 116: He is back

Chapter 116: Chapter 116: He is back

"Aaron...?" His name left Serena’s parted lips as she stared at him with a blank look plastered across her face. "You are back early..." she muttered under her breath softly as her mind struggled to comprehend the reality.

I also felt my heart sink to the pit of my stomach in an instant as realisation washed over me. Her husband was now home and he was looking right at me. Panic flashed past my eyes for a split second as my heart pounded loudly against my chest.

Could this be it? He will find out about our revenge plan and ruin everything for us?

The man was looking at me intently from a distance. The next thing I knew, he stood up from the couch and started walking over towards us, closing the distance between us in a few large strides.

"Something cropped up at work and I had to rush back," he turned to explain to her before he snapped his head back around to look at me. Our gazes matched. "Who are you?" He questioned, his voice laced with a hint of doubt and suspicion as he narrowed his eyes at me, his voice jolting me back to reality.

My previous flustered expression was quickly replaced by a calm expression. I took in a deep breath and let my lips curl upwards into a slight smile.

"Oh hi," I greeted. "Sorry to disturb you sir. I am here to visit a friend. I wasn’t sure where to go so I was just asking for directions," I quickly explained, lying right to his face flawlessly.

"Yeah, she came up to me to ask for directions when she happened to see me standing by the door," Serena confirmed.

I was hoping that he would drop the matter. But instead, I found that his dark eyes were carefully examining my features and a hint of recognition flashed past his eyes for a fleeting moment. There was a brief pause as silence enveloped us all and he didn’t say a word for a while.

Seizing this opportunity, I spoke up, breaking the silence.

"Anyway, I got to go, I am running late," I explained. "Thanks for the help," I said with a smile and spun on my heels to leave when his voice pierced through the air and reached my ears.

"Wait, I think I know you," he declared and I froze on the spot, the smile that was once resting on my face disappeared at the speed of lightning. My heart sank once again.

What the hell? How is that possible? I have never seen this man ever in my life and I am pretty sure he had not seen me. Did I not get back all of my memories from before?

My mind continued to buzz with thoughts and questions and I was starting to doubt myself when his voice broke me out of my little reverie.

"You look vaguely familiar," he remarked casually. "Have we met?"

I let out a soft chuckle, shaking my head. "I don’t believe so, sir." Another moment of silence stretched between us. "Well, I shall get going, see you around next time."

I turned to leave, walking away towards the car that was parked right on the street. Behind me, I could hear him immediately begin to ask her all sorts of questions as soon as I walked away.

"Who’s that woman? Are you hiding something from me?" He questioned, his voice dripping with accusation as he glared at her.

"I told you, she was just asking for directions," Serena answered timidly and from the corner of my eye, I watched as she wrapped her arm around her daughters, moving them to stand behind her to protect them with her own body. I gritted my teeth, balling up my fists tightly beside my body as I fought to maintain my calm demeanour.

"You are hiding something, aren’t you? Did you bring a man home while I am away?!" He snarled, his tone carrying a sharp edge to it. "Did you?!" He raised his voice louder this time.

I couldn’t stand listening any longer. Without thinking much, I whipped my head around to glare at the man with an intense look swirling in the depths of my dark brown eyes. I marched towards him, closing the distance between us in a couple of seconds.

"She already told you that I was just asking for directions, why are you being so hard on her? Why do you feel the need to accuse her of hiding something and cheating on you?" I retorted with a serious expression that masked my features. At that moment, I didn’t care about my revenge or anything else, I only cared about Serena and her daughters cowering behind her.

His eyes grew wide with surprise and anger, he must not have expected this outburst from a stranger like me. He glanced over at me with disdain and contempt in his eyes.

"I’m talking to my wife. Who do you think you are to lecture me?" He sneered with a disdainful scorn as the frown between his brows deepened, forming a deep crease in his forehead.

Serena looked over at me as she shook her head lightly. "It’s okay..." she mumbled softly under her breath, trying to urge me to go. "Don’t need to worry about me, miss."

"No, it’s not okay. I need to help you," I said then turned to the man. "I am a woman trying to stand up for another woman. Clearly, you are just trying to pick a fight for no reason at all."

He huffed. "So what if I am? This is none of your business, this is my own family matter!" He yelled out loud this time, his voice shaking from the rage that was pulsing through every single vein inside his body. His loud voice scared his own daughters as they soon burst into tears and started sobbing.

"I will report you for assault and violence," I warned, my voice heavy with a threat as my voice remained unwavering and I kept my gaze steady.

He let out a cold chuckle. "Assault and violence?" He repeated with an incredulous look that was stretched across his face. "I didn’t even lay a finger on her. Do I look like a violent person to you?"

"Yeah, you do, actually," I quickly declared.

"You–!"

"It is better to be safe than sorry. I am not risking it."

I reached for my phone in my pocket and pulled it out to dial the police. Seeing this, his eyes widened and he rushed over to me to try and snatch my phone out of my grip.

"What do you think you are doing?! Give me your phone!"

He grabbed me by my arm and a loud yelp escaped from my lips, Serena who was watching also let out a loud gasp of surprise.

"Aaron! Stop it! You are hurting her!" Serena pleaded, her voice laced with desperation as she rushed over to try and stop him.

"Go away!" He yelled and ruthlessly pushed her away, causing her to stumble and fell to the ground with a yelp.

"Don’t push her!" I screamed. Somehow I managed to overpower him and shoved at him roughly. He gritted his teeth and was about to push me when I held out my hand to block him.

But the impact never came. Instead, my eyes shot open and I found myself looking at a familiar back. Realisation washed over me in an instant. It was Xavier who had rushed over, he must have heard my screams.

I watched as he grabbed the man’s arm and twisted it behind his back to hold him back. His face darkened visibly and he clenched his jaw tightly while the man’s face was contorted into a pained expression.

"Owww!"

Xavier released his tight grip on the man and glared at him intensely. "Don’t even think about laying a finger on my wife." The man was rubbing his arm as he grimaced in pain when Xavier turned to face me with a concerned look etched onto his face. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

"I’m okay, don’t worry about me. I need to help Serena..." I rushed over to help her get back up on her feet.

"Thank you..." she muttered under her breath, her voice barely above a whisper as her lips curved upwards into a small grateful smile.

The man’s face was now flushed red with anger as he glared at us. Without a single warning, he reached forward and grabbed Serena, roughly yanked on her arm to pull her back to his side.

"She doesn’t need your help," he spat the words out like they were poison in his mouth as he narrowed his eyes at me.

"That’s not for you to decide," I snarled, the words that left my lips were thick with a layer of poison. Before he could react, I pulled out my phone and I managed to call the cops this time as Xavier held him back.

"Hello, I would like to make a report."
