Chapter 166: Ranking Up (2)
Chapter 166: Ranking Up (2)
Shortly after choosing Alfred’s evolution, Azelis returned with another batch of five peak Gold-rank Monsters.
"It looks like your turn is next, Pymon, since Azelis brought all five flying monsters," John said with a chuckle. "Ready to rumble?"
Pymon cried out majestically upon seeing Azelis approaching from far.
Starry and the kids cheered loudly.

Pymon’s new talent—Dual Reaper, automatically activated when he entered water or exited it.
In water, Pymon transforms into a monster capable of swimming fast like an aquatic creature, and his Aquadepth attribute gains a boost.
In the sky, Pymon assumes the Roc form, with his Skygale attribute getting a boost.
As Azelis arrived, she released the five enormous flying monsters like summoned calamities before activating the barrier again, preventing their escape.
Pyrelance Dawnhawk — blazing comet feathers and molten talons.
Vortexscale Seraph Manta — fins wide like a gliding temple, wings woven of storm.
Cryosting Albatross — silent, ghostly frost-bird with dagger-feathers.
Nullray Plague Kite — draped in black vapor, eyes hollow with dreadlight.
Thunderroot Vine-winged Serpent — vine-grown beast crackling with thorned thunder.
Pymon cried and challenged them head-on.
The monsters understood the intent, all of them glaring at Pymon, their exotic wings spreading, their forms glinting.
At that, Pymon vanished.
A thunderclap split the sky.
He reappeared in the middle of their formation in a coiling spiral of wind and piercing light. His wings flared, slashing open invisible vortex lines that twisted the very pressure around him. Stormpiercer Vortexwing merged seamlessly into Aether Spiral Shred—ripping through the Cryosting’s left wing with a jagged spiral of wind-blades. The Plague Kite’s vapor field tore open, shredded into harmless mist.
Without pause, Pymon twisted his body midair, talons glowing with compressed voltage. He streaked upward in a flash, then turned and dove straight into the heart of the Seraph Manta’s cyclone field.
Skyvault Riftburst detonated on impact. Thunderlash Deluge followed, releasing dozens of crackling arcs in all directions. The manta’s body twitched, lights stuttering across its wings as lightning tore through the center of its spiraling winds.
The Dawnhawk came from behind, aiming for Pymon’s neck with molten claws. But Pymon’s wings folded tightly, and he dropped, falling like a dead comet. The Dawnhawk missed by inches—and as Pymon spun back around, he met it with a sudden vertical burst.
Abyssal Shockwave Spiral flared out from his core as Voltfeather Cascade tore from his wings, every plume a bolt in flight. The Dawnhawk took the full brunt of it. Its body lit up in burning streaks, feathers vaporizing, molten blood spilling from its chest as it was thrown across the battlefield in a spinning arc of flame.
Pymon didn’t stop. He dove again—straight through the lower boundary of the barrier, tearing into the ocean below.
The moment he broke water, his form shifted.
Feathers became sleek scale-feather hybrids, wings transformed into massive fin blades. His tail split, extending into a propulsive thruster-fin that glowed with submerged charge. In an instant, he was gone, slicing through the ocean’s depths like a living torpedo.
The monsters above slowed.
The Seraph Manta regained altitude, blinking weakly.
The Plague Kite turned in slow confusion.
The Cryosting tried to angle upward and re-engage.
But from below, the sea bent inward and exploded.
Tidal Riftmaw Cyclone and Heavenrend Squall combined in a devastating upward surge. Water twisted into a vertical spiral, with Pymon at the core, his wings spread wide like blades of the storm. The impact caught all three airborne monsters at once.
The Plague Kite’s body folded inward under the force.
The Cryosting shattered on one side as half its wings snapped clean off.
The Seraph Manta was flung backward into the barrier wall, cracking its bones as the wind cyclone crushed its frame.
Only one remained.
The Thunderroot Serpent dove in rage, its thorned vines whipping and pulsing with arc lightning.
Pymon rose to meet it.
Their collision split the air. Vines coiled, lightning spat—but Pymon rolled with unnatural precision. One wing slammed the serpent aside, and his claws ripped into its neck, hurling it downward. Before it could recover, he spun.
Aerocleave Tempest Dive merged with Midnight Riftbloom as he drove himself downward like a falling spear. Wind folded inward, pressure sealed behind him—and the final blow landed with a deafening impact that erupted in dark blossoms of condensed air.
The Thunderroot Serpent hit the surface of the sea like a dropped god and didn’t rise again.
Above, silence reigned.
Pymon rose from the sea’s surface, his form shifting once more. Finblades vanished. Feathers returned. He burst into the air, soaked in stormlight and streaks of water, lightning dancing across his wings like a living constellation.
He let out a victorious cry, one that echoed across the dome.
Below, John gave a slow nod with a grin. "Great fight, buddy."
Starry shouted with the kids, all of them chanting his name in their cries.
Pymon circled once more, a highborn lord of sky and sea as he flew past the monsters by inches, as if telling them—See? That’s how you fight.
The other Monsters snorted, laughed, and roared upon seeing Pymon acting like he was the strongest of all.
"Alright, time for your evolution, buddy." John chuckled. "Let’s see."
John had no lack of evolution options because in those seven days he spent in the Sovereign-rank special dimensional island, he and Azelis had killed plenty of exotic Sovereign-rank Monsters and absorbed their Geno Points, unlocking a myriad of evolution possibilities for all monsters.
John activated the skill and saw the evolution paths.
1. Crashing Tidebolt Archreaver — Aquadepth / Skygale / Flashflood Spark.
2. Aetherpiercing Cyclone Tyrant — Skygale / Lightning Reaver / Voltcurrent
3. Thundergale Leviathan Roclord — Lightning Reaver / Monsoonlord / Skylord
4. Skybound Maelstrom Hellbird — Skylord / Aqualord / Voltide
