Chapter 141: Meeting the Heirs of Duraians, Going To the Nexus City

"John, here’s your abode. The young generation of our family also lives in this area. There are arenas and training grounds as well, so spend time here if you want to, or you can also roam the city with our kids."

The acting head of the Duraiana family, Arion Duraian, took John to the back part of their large estate that stretched 10 kilometers in the area on the northeast side of Nexus City Island, with the natural greenery of the surrounding forest acting as their border.

All eleven forces had their bases at different corners of the Nexus City Island, while also having branches in the city itself.

The five ruling sects had smaller bases here since they had bigger bases at the Heavenrend Region’s shores.

The other six forces—three families and three organizations—had their main bases on this Nexus City Island.

Each of these six forces also had connections with six areas in the Gratar Continent’s four different regions where they held their recruitment. In those six areas, the ruling sects weren’t allowed to hold their recruitment.

Naturally, most wouldn’t be chosen as Nexus City itself was a better recruitment place as the most populated and largest city of the Gratar Continent, having a population of 29 million.

It was also the most advanced city of the Gratar continent, where the biggest business groups and production groups were situated alongside the general public that worked for them and lived better than people of any other place on the Gratar continent.

Naturally, everything was divided among the eleven forces as they controlled literally everything in the city while competing against each other.

John’s goal in this city was to cause havoc by messing up their balance, not directly, but indirectly, and find Azelis’ enemies to kill them as well as take revenge on Rakin and Lockham family because they were the main controlling hand that controlled Tavros and Jason, who ended up almost ruining their lives while already ruining Jibril’s life by killing her parents.

John wasn’t going to let them go because he was the proxy of everything that happened.

"Got it. I’d like to roam the city since I’ve been training for hours," John said with a grin as he nodded at Arion.

"In that case, let me call my son and daughter. They have a group, and it’s better that you go with them."

"Oh?" John blinked and asked. "Am I unsafe if I go alone?"

Arion wryly smiled. "Not exactly unsafe, but in case you enter into a conflict with someone, it’s better that you have our people with you, right?"

John laughed. "Not wrong, but Master Sirius gave me so many things, I don’t think I would die even if Sovereign-rank Tamers attacked me."

After saying that, his body was suddenly covered in a full-body light-weight leather outfit with a belt and trousers that looked familiar to Arion.

"That..." Arion’s eyebrows raised in surprise. "Mr. Sirius gave you his own Sovereign-rank armor set?"

"Yep," John said with a grin.

Arion weakly smiled. "Okay, I suppose you are safe anywhere you go."

"I am, but still, I would appreciate the company. After all, it’s my first time in the city."

"Haha, very well. I have already called them, so they’ll be here soon."

Indeed, it wasn’t long before a group of six people came, three boys and three girls, all around the age of 19 to 21, and all of them being Gold-rank Tamers.

John’s eyes glinted. ’Only two of them are not in the peak Gold rank. The other four are at the peak of the Gold rank.’

"What’s the matter, Dad?"

"Why did you call us urgently?"

The maroon-haired boy with blue eyes and the dark brown-haired girl with emerald eyes spoke one by one as they arrived.

[ Azelis: The prodigies of the Duraian clan. Both of them were born with rather powerful Soul Talents and have multiple affinities. Both of them have level 3 masteries of their main affinities. ]

[ Jibril: Wow...but still, far cry from our John, haha.]

Before Arion could say anything, John said while waving his hand at the group, grinning. "What’s up, fellas? I am John, and I’ll be living with you for a bit."

"Ahem, Kenil and Reena, he is an important guest of our Duraian family’s new business partner. He wants to roam the city, so how about you show him around? It’s early in the morning, and you all also haven’t eaten, so start with a good breakfast."

"Also, he’ll be participating in the upcoming Gold-rank Tamer’s Special Expedition Tournament as a member of our Duraian family, so take him to some of those exclusive training centers of the city as well."

Upon hearing that, Kenil, Reena, and the other four kids’ expressions changed.

"You’re joking, right?" Kenil frowned. "We have four fixed already, and the last one would be either Jessica or Tarkin, whoever wins in a duel before the tournament starts."

"And he just recently broke through to Gold-rank! Look at his physical and soul aura’s potency," Reena said as her brows creased while looking at John.

Turning to her father, she added. "Only seven days remain until the tournament, not including today, and you want him to join us? It’s a waste of quota, Father."

"That’s right. He also looks older than us, and yet he just broke through to Gold-rank," Kenil said as he shook his head. "Father, the tournament is more important than whatever your business partner gave you in exchange for letting him participate."

Before Arion could speak again, John loudly yawned and then cheekily smiled at the kids. "You want to know a secret? I am going to get the top rank in the tournament, and that’s already destined."

"..."

"..."

Even Arion couldn’t help but almost choke as his words struck his throat upon hearing Almond.

Win the tournament?

Even though Arion knew John was talented and had four powerful affinities and growing masteries, there was just no way to win in his eyes.

The top prodigies all had level 3 Masteries, the peak of Gold-stage physical stats, and the peak of Gold-rank soul power, as well as proficiency in three Soul Techniques and two Geno Abilities, on top of having peak Gold-rank Pet Monsters.

Arion couldn’t see John reaching a peak on all of those things in just seven days, or eight if he included today.

He even felt Mr. Sirius might have misjudged due to John’s boastful claim of winning, but that was a fleeting thought.

’He is a talented kid with much potential, but I guess he has yet to see the world of expert Tamers.’

"Haha, that’s the spirit, John." Arion laughed. "And you two, I am not hearing any objection from you about this. And he is not as old as he looks. He is just sixteen years old, and hasn’t even been three months since he became a Tamer."

"S-Sixteen?" Reena’s right eye twitched.

Kenil also stared at John with a flabbergasted face.

Arion snorted. "Not to mention, he is a talented combatant who defeated Loren’s son Rakin in the Ouroboros Hall’s inter-sect competition. He and his pets are both the cream of the crop."

"He will be taking the fifth spot of the quota, and that’s final."

Kenil and Reena looked visibly frustrated.

’You two better behave. Don’t treat him unfairly or badly. Instead, get to know him and his qualities if you must. I won’t tolerate any bullshit at him, you understand?’

Kenil and Reena were startled, their eyes moving to their father, who somberly looked at them with seriousness.

They had never seen their father be this strict with others in their whole life! This was the first such case.

’Who the hell is he for you to favor him so much, Dad?’

’I also want to know.’

’Just know that he is the most important guest we’ve ever had, got it? I am not worried about his safety as he is safe even from Sovereign-rank Tamers on his own, but don’t behave like idiots by giving him crap.’

"Senior Arion, I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to take your quota just like that, even if you agreed to it. So how about this?" John smiled. "Since they were going to decide the spot with their duel, I’ll join in on that duel. If I win, I’ll take the spot."

"Are you serious?" Reena sneered. "You really think you can defeat these two?"

"Not right now," John carefreely chuckled and said. "But after seven days, yes."

"Anyway, how about we go out now? I am hungry." John grinned as he rubbed his stomach. "All this stuff about the quota and tournament can be decided later."

"He’s right. Go and have breakfast first, and then take John to the Tamer’s Challenge District."

Kenil and Reena nodded.

"Fine."

"We got it."

Arion smiled as he heard their response. He knew his kids would behave now.

"Then I’m leaving. Take care."

After Arion left, Kenil waved his hand as he took out a flying ship from his storage ring.

The ship had a deck that could hold fifty people in close proximity, so it wasn’t that big.

It had two wings and two thrusters, using spirit crystals or essence coins, as both could be used to power it.

"Let’s go," Kenil jumped by empowering his legs with soul energy and landed on the ship floating fifty meters above.

Reena and the remaining two girls and two boys also did the same as they arrived on the ship.

Meanwhile, John floated up as he arrived in front of the ship.

"You..."

Kenil was shocked.

Reena and others were also taken aback.

"I want to increase my proficiency in Space and Gravity mastery, so I’ll be flying on my own alongside the ship." John smiled. "You can start moving."
