Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 477: Recalling Memories

Chapter 477: Recalling Memories

Just as Mr. Sterling Senior was about to hang up the phone, he heard the sound of labored breathing at the doorway—a mix of anger, confusion, and frustration.

"When did you get here?" For the first time, Mr. Sterling Senior’s composure faltered.

Damien Sterling stood at the door like a statue, staring at the grandfather he had always respected. The man who now seemed so lost, so unlike himself. After overhearing the conversation, Damien felt as if his grandfather was a completely different person—or perhaps a monster. How could he pressure a defenseless young woman like this?

So, the children were real?

His children—two of them—had been sent abroad by this ruthless old man? They were suffering there, missing their mother, but why? Why was all this happening?

Damien Sterling let out a roar of frustration as if a heavy weight suddenly crashed down in his mind—the very memories he had been desperately trying to recall. The pressure in his head became unbearable, and he finally succumbed to the pain, collapsing into unconsciousness.

He was rushed to the hospital, where they performed tests and administered IV fluids.

During this time, Riley Turner stayed by his side, hoping that when Damien Sterling woke up, she would be the first person he saw.

"Grandfather, what is going on?" Riley Turner asked directly.

Mr. Sterling Senior, sitting nearby, showed no emotion. "It’s that Emma Hart again. I will not allow that woman to jeopardize his future any longer."

Riley Turner didn’t know the full story, but if Mr. Sterling Senior blamed Emma Hart, then it had to be because of her. Riley felt both angry and helpless.

At that moment, Damien Sterling’s hand twitched slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes.

Riley Turner immediately called out his name, "You’re awake! Does your head still hurt? Is it still painful?" She couldn’t stop asking.

Damien Sterling saw his grandfather sitting nearby, looking uneasy. Although his grandfather’s expression wasn’t entirely one of relief, Damien closed his eyes briefly and smiled—a clean, pure smile.

"What happened to me?" Damien Sterling asked Riley Turner.

Riley Turner was overjoyed, interpreting his question as a sign that he was fine.

"Nothing serious, you just fainted suddenly, but you’re okay now," Riley Turner quickly assured him.

Mr. Sterling Senior moved closer, as if he had something to say, but he held back. "Are you sure you’re alright?" he asked.

Damien Sterling simply nodded, still smiling with a brightness that made them doubt he was the same person they knew.

Mr. Sterling Senior, in particular, was baffled. Did Damien hear what was said before he fainted? If he did, how could he be acting so normally now?

"Do you remember how you fainted?" Mr. Sterling Senior asked, his gaze complicated.

Damien Sterling rubbed his head, feeling a vague pain.

"Forget it, Grandfather. If he can’t remember, it’s fine. Let him rest now," Riley Turner interjected, concerned about the pained expression on Damien’s face.

Mr. Sterling Senior decided not to press further, feeling somewhat reassured. It was better if Damien didn’t remember. Perhaps he was just overthinking it, and Damien had no idea what was discussed with Emma Hart over the phone.

Damien Sterling soon fell into a deep sleep. The doctor advised that the room remain quiet, so Mr. Sterling Senior returned home, leaving Riley Turner to care for him alone.

He occasionally asked for water or fruit. Riley Turner, though kept busy, felt a sense of contentment. Damien’s attitude toward her seemed to have reverted to its previous state. It appeared that, as the doctor had mentioned, patients with amnesia could selectively forget the things that had left the deepest impressions on them.

So, Emma Hart—he must have forgotten about her.

"Riley Turner," Damien Sterling suddenly called out.

Riley quickly put down the fruit she was peeling and asked, "Do you want some water?"

"No," Damien shook his head, looking at her with a simple, innocent expression. "I want to go to the restroom. Wait here for me, and when I come back, I want to eat strawberries. Remember to soak them in salt water."

Riley Turner nodded happily. This was the first time Damien Sterling had spoken to her so much, and it seemed he finally regarded her as his wife.

"Alright, go ahead, but be careful. I’ll get those strawberries ready for you right away."

Damien Sterling smiled as he headed toward the bathroom, which was located around a corner of the room, out of sight from where Riley Turner was. As soon as he was out of her view, he slipped out of the hospital room.

The moment he left, his smile vanished, and he walked briskly toward the hospital exit, his mind now crystal clear.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number he knew by heart, even though they had done a thorough job of erasing Emma Hart’s contact information. He still remembered it perfectly.

Emma Hart answered, "Damien Sterling?" she asked, puzzled.

Damien Sterling’s furrowed brow relaxed as he heard her voice.

"Emma Hart, meet me right now at the café where we met last time. Hurry!" he commanded, then added, "And be careful."

Emma Hart was completely caught off guard by Damien Sterling’s call. He still remembered her number?

Without overthinking it, she headed straight to the café, thinking this might be the last time she would see Damien Sterling.

Damien Sterling was seated in the most secluded booth in the café. The curtain wasn’t drawn, and from a distance, she could see him sitting upright on the sofa. Emma Hart’s heart skipped a beat.

"How did you know my number?" Emma Hart immediately asked as she approached.

Damien Sterling suddenly looked up, and in that instant, Emma Hart knew that her Damien Sterling, her love, had returned.

Only his gaze could be so commanding, and only his eyes could hold such deep love and longing.

Damien Sterling grabbed Emma Hart’s shoulders suddenly and kissed her fiercely. His tongue teased at her lips, and Emma Hart was momentarily stunned before passionately returning the kiss. In the end, she couldn’t resist the intensity of his embrace.

After a moment of restraint, as their passionate kiss subsided, Emma Hart reluctantly pulled away from him.

She looked into his eyes, filled with emotion, and then leaned back into another deep kiss with him.

Finally, they stopped.

Tears streamed down Emma Hart’s face as she punched Damien Sterling’s chest, "You finally remembered. You finally remembered! I thought you’d forgotten me for the rest of your life!"

All the suppressed pain and sorrow she had held back were released in that moment as she reunited with the love of her life. Emma Hart felt as if her very soul had been uplifted.

Damien Sterling felt a sharp pain in his heart seeing the woman he loved so distressed. He held her tightly, whispering, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry."

The repeated apologies made Emma Hart cry even harder. She basked in the sense of belonging and security that Damien Sterling’s embrace gave her, silently weeping with joy.

"Does your grandfather know you’re here?" Emma Hart asked, her words like a sudden splash of cold water on the moment.
