Chapter 392: Mid-Air Wedding (Part 1)

At 5:30 in the morning, the pre-set alarm clock began to ring incessantly. The two, nestled in each other’s arms, seemed reluctant to wake from their sweet dreams.

Damien Sterling turned his head slightly, his long arm reaching out to silence the monotonous and annoying alarm on the nightstand. With a swift move, he swung his long legs out of bed and headed straight for the bathroom.

Emma Hart lingered in the liminal space between sleep and wakefulness, finally rousing herself at Damien Sterling’s urging.

"Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, everything is ready outside," Mrs. Harris called out. Damien Sterling had specifically instructed her the night before to prepare breakfast by six and to wake them up.

After freshening up, the couple went downstairs for breakfast.

"Good morning! We wish you a happy and successful wedding day!" Amelia Davidson and Logan Harrington said in unison, raising their juice-filled glasses. They had gotten up at five to help with the preparations.

"Thank you," Emma Hart replied.

After quickly finishing breakfast, Ryan Garcia arrived at the door with the car. Everyone hurried to the airport, with the servants carefully placing all the necessary wedding items in the trunk.

The sky wedding was planned to circle domestically before the couple headed off alone for their honeymoon.

Despite the early rush hour in City A, their plans weren’t disrupted. A single call from Damien Sterling could clear the route from the Sterling family mansion to the airport. However, the airport was quite far from the mansion, taking Ryan Garcia forty minutes to an hour to drive.

"Mrs. Harris, have the children eaten? While I’m not around, please keep a close eye on them in the crowd!" Emma Hart showed her motherly nature, reminding Mrs. Harris even on her wedding day.

"Don’t worry, my beautiful bride! You have nothing to fret about today. Mrs. Harris and I will take good care of the little ones," Amelia Davidson assured Emma with a wink.

"Amelia is right. Today is your day to enjoy everything," Damien Sterling said, wrapping his arm around Emma Hart’s shoulder, the scent of jasmine filling his senses and invigorating him.

Since everyone had risen so early, they all dozed off in the car, except for Ryan Garcia and Logan Harrington, who were kept awake by Red Bull. They chatted the whole way, only realizing near the airport that Damien Sterling had been listening to their conversation the entire time, not fully asleep.

The airport was relatively empty, and since Damien Sterling had a private jet, they could board at any time. The interior of the plane was decorated to Emma Hart’s tastes, filled with the romantic ambiance of Paris. They arrived before all the other guests, except for two makeup artists and a few staff setting up the pastries.

"Logan, your brother really went all out!" Amelia Davidson exclaimed, awed by the dreamlike setting on the plane, estimating that the wedding must cost at least a million.

"I’ve never seen him be so generous with me! Looks like he finally met his match in a woman, haha!" Logan Harrington’s words carried a tone of mock jealousy.

Emma Hart, too, looked around in disbelief. It was surreal, yet oddly familiar.

"Do you like it?" Damien Sterling asked softly.

"I love it!" Emma Hart exclaimed. The word "like" couldn’t capture the extent of her joy, though she couldn’t shake the feeling that she had seen this setup somewhere before.

Emma Hart couldn’t quite place where she had seen it.

Damien Sterling noticed Emma Hart staring blankly. Perhaps she was too nervous? He gently placed his hand on her head, gave her a strong kiss on her soft, fragrant black hair, and then briefly stepped back.

"Alright, go get your makeup and dress ready. Grandma and Max will be here soon," Damien said, heading towards the dining area of the plane.

"Aren’t you going to change?" Emma Hart asked.

"You go first," Damien Sterling replied, turning back to walk towards Logan Harrington and Ryan Garcia.

Emma Hart, feeling a bit unhappy, was led by Amelia Davidson to her private lounge. She pouted, already missing Damien even though they were only parting for a short while.

Inside the lounge, the makeup artist and assistant were already waiting for her.

Emma Hart changed into the wedding dress she had tried on for Amelia Davidson the day before, then sat in the chair, allowing the makeup artist to work on her face with various colors.

Her thoughts were all over the place. The plane’s layout seemed familiar. Damien had mentioned that Grandma and Max would come—would they really? If they did, would they cause trouble? With Mrs. Harris and the bodyguards around, the kids should be fine, right?

The more Emma thought, the more anxious she became. She decided to ask the makeup artist to pause and asked the assistant to get her a cold drink.

The elegant bridal makeup was soon ready; the plane started to become livelier.

Amelia Davidson was in Emma Hart’s lounge, styling her hair.

"Leave this to me! I’ve had professional hairstyling training!" Amelia confidently took the comb from the makeup artist and began smoothing Emma’s silky hair, then started braiding it.

If only her mother were here to do her hair, Emma thought. Her only regret was that her mother couldn’t be at her wedding, ever.

In five minutes, a beautifully braided bridal hairstyle emerged from Amelia Davidson’s hands. Emma looked at herself in the mirror, very satisfied.

"Emma! Congratulations! Grandma is so happy today," Grandma Hart said, entering after three quick knocks on the door.

Since it was the bride’s room, Max waited outside.

"Grandma, thank you for coming. How’s everyone at home? Where’s Max?" Emma asked, holding her grandma’s hand. Despite everything, they were still her family; she had to show her kindness even if they had been unkind.

"All good! Max is waiting outside. Mr. Sterling sent someone to pick us up and even prepared such beautiful clothes for us! You’re truly blessed!" Grandma Hart said, placing a red envelope in Emma’s hand.

"Oh, by the way, why does the decoration of this wedding venue look so much like the painting you had on the wall of that little shabby house?" Grandma Hart asked.

"Grandma, what painting are you talking about?" Emma asked.

"Don’t you remember? The one you won an award for in high school!" Grandma Hart laughed.

The fog in Emma Hart’s mind cleared instantly. Yes! This scene was identical to her interior design project!
