Chapter 366: The Wedding in Progress
A graceful and seductive woman approached Damien Sterling. "Hey handsome, could you pass me a drink?" Her voice, as soft as cotton candy, flowed from her alluring red lips.
Damien glanced at the woman briefly and responded coldly, "No." He then turned and walked away from her.
Amused, he thought to himself, How dare she try to flirt with me? She’s overestimating herself. Damien, once a regular at glamorous parties where even many actresses desired his attention, found the woman’s attempt laughable.
As he walked away, the woman grabbed his wrist. "Please, wait."
Just as she was about to ask for his contact information, something soft and fragrant collided with her, followed by a cold, red liquid soaking her white dress.
"I’m so sorry, pretty lady! I didn’t mean it!" Harper Clark apologized frantically.
The seductive woman, about to lash out, remembered her quarry still stood nearby. She quickly muttered, "It’s fine," and rushed toward her room.
"Mr. Sterling, are you okay?" Harper Clark looked up at him with her innocent eyes.
"I’m fine. Thank you for this time," Damien replied coolly, ready to leave.
"Mr. Sterling, there’s something I need to tell you," Harper hurriedly added.
Damien stopped and turned to face her.
"I’m sorry for the incident during the last competition and for my past immaturity. Ryan and I are doing well now, and I hope you can forgive my previous mistakes." Harper lifted her glass, wanting to toast to him.
Knowing exactly what she referred to and wanting to avoid further complications, Damien raised his glass and clinked it against hers. They both drank.
Harper left the scene happily.
Meanwhile, Emma Hart arrived just in time to witness their toast. A pang of jealousy and pain pierced her heart, and suddenly, she lost her appetite.
Amelia Davidson and Logan Harrington were in the middle of a lively drinking competition with their friends. Emma Hart, trying to avoid the crowd, retreated to the far corner of the banquet hall, where she began guzzling juice cup after cup at the drink machine.
Damien Sterling searched the entire hall but couldn’t find Emma Hart until he spotted her by the drink machine. By this time, Emma had nearly finished a large pitcher of blueberry juice.
"Emma Hart! What on earth are you doing?" Damien Sterling scolded her angrily.
"Keep your voice down! Leave me alone!" Emma snapped back at Damien. It was her best friend’s big day, and she didn’t want her issues to ruin the wedding.
Emma slipped through a small gap by the drink table. Damien, too big to fit through the gap, had to go around and chase after her.
Emma ran along the boardwalk to Tianshan Pool. During the day, the place was stunning. The blue-green water was surrounded by towering peaks, and wildflowers swayed in the breeze, making her feel like her problems were insignificant.
So what if Damien Sterling had a drink with Harper Clark? It didn’t mean anything, did it? Emma thought to herself. The cool breeze dried her tears as she heard heavy footsteps approaching from her right.
Damien Sterling, out of breath, finally caught up to her. "You sure can run!" he shouted, still trying to understand what was wrong with her today.
"I’m sorry..." Emma knew she had messed up again. But if she hadn’t run away, she might have broken down and cried at the wedding, which would have been even more embarrassing.
"Do you have any idea how worried I was? Running off without a word! What if something happened to you?" Damien yelled, his voice echoing through the mountains, his face red with anger.
Seeing Damien like this, Emma felt a wave of guilt and started crying again. Damien, as always, lost his anger the moment she cried. He quickly moved to embrace her, apologizing repeatedly, "It’s okay, it’s okay. As long as you’re safe."
After a while, Emma’s mood started to improve. Maybe she had overreacted, she thought.
They sat on the boardwalk, with Damien Sterling now much calmer. He gently wrapped his arm around Emma Hart’s waist and asked, "What was that all about earlier?"
Emma Hart explained what had happened. After listening, Damien Sterling chuckled. This woman had been crying over him, and it seemed so silly. He held Emma tightly, whispering, "Looks like I still can’t put your mind at ease."
With that, Damien Sterling pulled a ring box from his pocket. "Here, this is for you," he said, placing the ring in Emma’s hand.
"What’s this?" Emma asked, puzzled.
"Open it and see," Damien replied.
Emma opened the box to find a heart-shaped diamond ring. Her face showed a mix of shock and confusion as she looked at the ring and then at Damien.
Damien hugged her again. "Remember? We never had the perfect wedding. Today, I promise you, give me a little more time, and I’ll give you an unforgettable wedding." He looked at Emma, whose eyes were now filled with joy and emotion. Seeing her perk up, Damien leaned in and kissed her.
The mountain breeze was gentle, and so was the kiss, making them feel light and airy.
Just as they were lost in their moment, Emma Hart’s phone rang.
"Emma! Where did you and Mr. Sterling run off to? Get back here! It’s time for pictures!" came Amelia Davidson’s voice from the other end.
"Okay, Amelia! We’re coming back now!" Emma replied. She then pulled Damien to his feet, and they ran back to the wedding venue.
"Emma, hurry up!" Amelia Davidson waved as she saw the two familiar figures approaching.
Emma Hart and Damien Sterling joined Amelia Davidson and Logan Harrington, posing for photos together. They spent the entire afternoon taking pictures, from the wedding venue to Tianshan Pool and back to the hotel room. Finally, they had some fun in the bridal suite with the two little ones from the Sterling family.
This wedding was perfect—free-spirited and carefree.
That evening, Amelia Davidson and Logan Harrington hosted their newlywed party, declaring that no one could leave before midnight.
Tonight, the serene Tianshan Pool felt special.
