Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 365: Life Cannot Be Perfect

Chapter 365: Life Cannot Be Perfect

"Sorry, Director Allen," Emma Hart realized she had asked something inappropriate.

"It’s fine! Daniel and I are doing well, aren’t we?" Lucy Allen smiled, but it was clear to anyone that she was forcing it.

Emma Hart chose not to press further. She simply nodded and murmured "Hmm," as they continued watching their children.

From that moment, Emma deeply admired Lucy Allen’s independence and strength. She realized that life could never be perfect. Emma had endured an unfortunate early life, but fate compensated her with a stable and happy later life. She had no freedom, constantly revolving around Damien Sterling and the kids, yet she was shielded from the harshness of the world. Lucy Allen, on the other hand, had the freedom to do as she pleased but had to face the world alone.

They stayed until nearly eleven before parting ways, with Lucy Allen driving her child home. Weekends always seemed short, quickly followed by the workweek. To prevent Emma Hart from repeating last week’s mishap, Damien Sterling instructed Mrs. Harris and the driver to take the children to the early education center, forcibly bringing Emma Hart to the company himself. Emma was fuming the entire ride.

Once at the office, things were the same. No matter how hard Damien tried to cheer her up, she remained sullen. He eventually gave up, letting Emma curl up on the sofa like a disgruntled cat.

The office door knocked, and Assistant eLe walked in. Emma quickly pulled her feet off the sofa.

"Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, this is the invitation Mr. Harrington just sent over," Assistant Lee said before leaving.

Damien Sterling made a call to Logan Harrington to confirm its authenticity and assured that he and Emma would attend on time. The wedding was to be held at Tianshan Pool in City C, a famous tourist spot known for its high levels of negative ions, mild winters, and cool summers, frequented by many elderly people for recuperation.

"Why would they choose such a place for a wedding?" Emma Hart asked curiously.

"You’re not mad anymore?" Damien Sterling asked with a grin.

Emma Hart paused, then replied, "Oh, right! I’m still mad!" She turned away, refusing to look at him.

Why was she acting more like a rebellious teenager? Damien Sterling chuckled helplessly and raised his voice, "The wedding is this Saturday at noon. Logan Harrington and the others will go ahead of time. If we need to stay overnight, we can call him to book rooms."

"That sounds great! Is it fun there? Should we stay?" Emma’s bad mood vanished instantly.

Damien smiled, "Spending a night there isn’t a problem. Let’s head over on Friday night."

"And we should bring the kids!" Emma said excitedly.

Damien nodded in agreement.

On Friday night, they boarded the Sterling family’s large helicopter, accompanied by their children, Mrs. Harris, and two bodyguards, and headed to Tianshan Pool.

The clear sky and bright moon reflected in the pool’s water, a gentle breeze rustling through the mountain foliage, creating a tranquil and enchanting atmosphere.

"Who knew Logan Harrington had such taste," Damien couldn’t resist a jab whenever it came to Logan.

Emma thought, this must be Amelia Davidson’s idea.

In the hotel lobby at Tianshan Pool, Logan and Amelia were sitting at the outdoor café, enjoying the moonlight. When they saw Damien and the others arrive, they immediately came forward to greet them.

"Hey! You made it!" Logan said happily.

They had only invited around thirty people, all close friends, with no elders present.

"Congratulations, Logan! And Damien, dear, and Emma are here too!" Ryan Garcia approached with Harper Clark, who was dressed in sportswear.

"Mr. Sterling, Emma, it’s been a while," Harper greeted them cheerfully.

Ryan had initially planned to bring Brianna Baker along, but she didn’t want to travel far and insisted Ryan take Harper instead.

Under his mother’s pressure, Ryan complied.

That evening, the six of them enjoyed an authentic farm-style meal at a local estate, which was quite expensive. The area had poor internet and limited entertainment facilities to maintain the natural landscape of Tianshan Pool.

After dinner, the six of them strolled along the boardwalk around the mountain pool.

Harper Clark dragged Ryan Garcia along, jumping around and forcing him to take pictures. Meanwhile, Logan Harrington and Damien Sterling, as well as Amelia Davidson and Emma Hart, walked in pairs, each couple engrossed in their own conversations.

"Why did you decide to have your wedding here, without a single elder present? Logan, isn’t that a bit improper?" Damien Sterling questioned.

Logan Harrington’s wedding without even his grandmother present seemed odd to Damien.

Logan glanced at Amelia and Emma walking ahead of them, then pulled Damien aside, slowing his pace. He decided it was better to confide in Damien for a sense of security.

Logan revealed the conditions set by his grandmother, the Harrington matriarch. Damien snorted, unsurprised. He had always suspected that the Harrington matriarch was a tough negotiator, willing to exchange her grandson’s position for a granddaughter-in-law.

Seeing Logan’s troubled expression, Damien offered words of comfort, assuring him everything would be alright. He also advised Logan to consider leaving Harrington Global Enterprises.

Logan had a sharp business mind and could excel independently. Staying under Madison Harrington’s control would only trap him further.

On the other side, Emma Hart asked Amelia Davidson the same question. Amelia replied that she purposely didn’t invite the elders because she wanted a wedding that belonged to just them.

She didn’t want Emma to worry too much. Though Logan didn’t say much, Amelia understood his feelings. Emma, in her eyes, was still naive, and she didn’t want her to be concerned.

As long as she was with Logan, she feared nothing. Life was indeed imperfect; gains always came with losses.

The pool was tranquil, the mountains seemingly asleep. They returned to their rooms.

The next day at noon, the wedding proceeded as planned. Amelia changed into three different wedding gowns, each showcasing her stunning figure, making Logan’s friends envious.

Amelia’s bridesmaids, on the other hand, ogled Logan’s groomsmen with starry eyes, especially Ryan Garcia and Damien Sterling, who drew the most attention.

Despite both men being accompanied by their partners, Harper Clark and Emma Hart, their popularity remained unaffected.

The luncheon was a buffet. Mrs. Harris and the bodyguards watched the children in the hotel room while Damien and the others attended the meal.
