Chapter 158: Mr. Sterling Can’t Ride a Bike

"I’ll press it for you," Emma Hart said gently, applying just a bit more pressure with her hands but still hitting the spot perfectly, making the man finally relax his grip and lie down comfortably on the couch.

Emma’s warm fingers moved with a blend of tenderness and strength over Damian Sterling’s temples, easing his tension remarkably and even inducing a slight drowsiness in him!

Damian, with his eyes closed, reached out and patted Emma’s arm. "Come here."

Following his request, Emma moved in front of the couch.

Sitting as instructed, her legs straight out in front of her, Damian shifted to lay his head on Emma’s thighs.

The long couch couldn’t accommodate his tall frame completely, leaving him to curl his legs slightly while resting on her.

"You should go to bed and get some proper rest," Emma suggested.

"Not going," he murmured sleepily.

His voice was soft, and soon, Emma could hear his steady, deep breaths indicating he had fallen asleep on her legs.

Looking down at Damian’s elongated figure, large and muscular yet underlain by a vulnerability, it seemed everyone has moments of seeking solace.

Emma leaned back slightly, watching over Damian and noticing her slightly bulging stomach and his hair in the same line of sight.

A smile unwittingly formed on her lips, enveloped by a warm feeling.

After an unknown period, Damian awoke, finding it unusual for him to sleep during the day, considering it a sheer waste of time.

Waking up to find Emma, reclined and asleep behind him, he realized his head had been resting on her thighs.

Startled by this realization, Damian abruptly sat up.

His sudden movement woke Emma as well.

"You’re awake," Emma Hart said gently, her voice so soft and melodious that even she was taken aback.

Could such a sound really emanate from her? Perhaps it was just the grogginess of having just woken up, Emma thought to herself.

The man sat up, his gaze landing on Emma’s legs. "Why didn’t you call me?" he demanded.

Emma was perplexed. Why would she need to wake him?

"What’s the matter? Do you have something important? Usually, isn’t it your assistant or one of your glamorous secretaries who reminds you?" she asked, her words tinged with a hint of jealousy.

"Move your legs," Damian Sterling commanded coldly.

At first, Emma hadn’t thought much of it. But after Damian’s remark, she realized her legs had gone numb from being in the same position for too long.

Damian glanced at her with a mix of irritation and scorn. "Such a foolish woman," he chided.

"Foolish woman?" Emma thought, he is a proverbial ungrateful wolf. She should have just pushed him to the ground to let him sleep in the cold earlier.

Gently lifting Emma’s legs to rest on his, Damian began to massage them with a tenderness that belied his earlier harshness. He remained silent, focused on easing her discomfort.

"Where did you go this morning?" he inquired.

"I didn’t go far. Where would I dare to go without your permission?" she responded, her voice carrying a trace of resentment. Past experiences had taught her not to stray far without Damian’s say-so.

Detecting the underlying accusation in her words, Damian realized she was blaming him for being too caught up with the Taylor Corporation collaboration to spend time with her.

When had she started wanting his company? Hadn’t she always seemed keen on pushing him away?

"I’ll take you out tonight," he offered.

After dinner, Damien Sterling lived up to his promise and began to walk outside with Emma Hart.

Approaching the hotel’s entrance, they found a row of shared bicycles.

Emma, tugging at Damien’s arm, suggested excitedly, "The beach is not far from here. How about we bike there?"

Damien, pausing to give the bicycles a disdainful glance, questioned, "Bike there?"

Emma, lifting her head to meet his gaze, teased, "What? Don’t tell me you can’t ride a bike?"

A flicker of fear crossed Damien’s eyes but disappeared just as quickly.

He then confidently pushed a bicycle towards himself, retorting, "Who said I can’t? I can handle a Rolls-Royce, a Maserati, a Bugatti—why would a bicycle be any concern?"

Emma scanned a bicycle for herself and noticed Damien still hesitating.

Well, it’s not like Damien’s phone had anything but email and call functions.

Did anyone really expect a CEO to search for a shared bicycle by the roadside for business meetings?

The image was absurd to even consider.

Why bother with a smartphone at all? A simple feature phone would suffice.

Helping Damien out, Emma scanned another bicycle for him. Handing it over, she encouraged, "Let’s go."

Emma biked ahead, pausing to look back.

Damien awkwardly mounted the bike, looking entirely mismatched with the bicycle, as if riding a child’s toy.

After biking a bit further, Emma called back, "Come on, hurry up!"

She joyfully pedaled ahead, while Damien, attempting to follow, wobbled and nearly tipped over with each turn.

Seeing that Emma hadn’t noticed his struggle, Damien breathed a sigh of relief, fearing she’d discover his inability to ride.

Yet, after another failed attempt, Damien looked up to find Emma gone.

"Where did that damned woman go?" he cursed, calling out, "Emma Hart!"

"I’m right here!" Emma’s voice floated from behind him, her face unable to hide the amusement. As she pedaled towards Damien Sterling, her laughter was evident.

"Mr. Sterling, don’t tell me you actually can’t ride a bike?" she inquired, her voice laced with jest as she observed his less-than-skilled attempts.

Emma nodded teasingly, "Ah, it appears you really can’t ride a bike."

Refusing to concede, Damien dismounted, asserting, "This bike is just difficult to handle."

Handing over her own bicycle to him, Emma suggested, "Try riding this one then."

Caught off guard, Damien hesitated before proposing, "Let’s walk instead. I was in the mood for a stroll today."

Emma watched as Damien feigned confidence, walking forward with a telltale hint of embarrassment.

Unable to contain her amusement any longer, Emma burst out, "Mr. President, you’re lying. It’s clear you can’t ride a bike."

Damien’s cool gaze met Emma’s as she doubled over in laughter, unable to straighten herself from the mirth.
