Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 156: Helping Hands

Chapter 156: Helping Hands

Emma Hart knew that with Damian Sterling’s demeanor, even if she were to impulsively purchase a car or a house, his expression wouldn’t so much as flicker.

It was only after Damian had left that Emma remembered the man hadn’t restricted her freedom at all.

Did that mean she could go anywhere she pleased? That was more than agreeable to her.

Grabbing her bag, Emma stepped out.

City B could stand toe-to-toe with City A, with its wide streets and towering skyscrapers, its bustling streets rivaling those of City A. From a distance, Emma spotted a pristine park and a hint of a lake.

Drawn to it, she made her way over, leaving the bustling mall behind. She preferred the tranquility of nature over urban chaos.

The park offered a pleasing landscape and fresh air, and since it wasn’t the weekend, it was pleasantly uncrowded, just the way Emma liked it.

As she followed the path, enjoying the secluded charm of the park, she suddenly heard cries for help.

Quickening her pace, Emma ran toward the sound and found a middle-aged man lying on the grass within a grove, unconscious, with a middle-aged woman beside him, frantic and in tears, attempting to dial for help on her shaking phone.

Bystanders gathered, but none dared to intervene.

"There’s not even a camera here," one woman remarked.

Another man stepped back, saying, "My cousin once helped an old lady across the street and ended up paying tens of thousands in compensation. Who would dare to help now?"

Hearing the crowd’s comments, the distraught woman pleaded, "I swear I won’t sue anyone. If anyone can help, I’ll generously reward you." Still, no one moved forward.

Seeing the man on the ground, Emma didn’t hesitate to kneel beside him and begin CPR, grateful for the life-saving skills she’d learned in school.

Her efforts paid off when the man finally took a breath.

The woman, relieved and grateful, clutched Emma’s hands.

"Thank you, young lady, thank you so much." She was captivated by Emma’s kind and beautiful demeanor, thinking what a perfect daughter-in-law she would make for her picky son.

The middle-aged woman, holding Emma Hart’s hand, inquired, "Dear, do you have a boyfriend?"

Emma was taken aback, clearly not expecting such a question and responded with an awkward smile.

Glancing at her uncle lying on the ground, the middle-aged woman then shifted her focus back to the man, smacking her forehead and exclaiming, "Oh dear, I got so caught up with you, I almost forgot about him!"

Emma stood there, somewhat in disbelief at the couple’s interaction, finding it hard to believe they were married, and even more so that the uncle had just fallen to the ground. Could such an incident really be forgotten?

The man quickly got up, profusely thanking Emma.

The woman, still holding onto Emma’s hand, persisted, "You haven’t answered me yet, do you have a boyfriend?"

Seeing this, the middle-aged man intervened, gently pulling the woman’s hand away, "You’ll scare the girl like that."

The woman shot him a glare, "What do you know?"

She took out her phone and took down Emma’s phone number, insisting, "We really need to thank you properly for today. But we’re a bit tied up right now, let’s make a day to thank you properly!"

Emma waved her off, "No need, really, it was nothing."

The woman’s appreciation for Emma grew. Not only was the girl beautiful and likable, but she also appeared very kind. Judging by her attitude towards the elderly, she would surely make a great daughter-in-law, respectful and caring.

The middle-aged man pulled his wife aside to bid farewell to Emma, promising, "We must properly thank you another day." Emma watched them leave, amused by the loving and entertaining couple.

Once they were alone, the man questioned, "Why postpone? We don’t have any plans today."

His wife looked at him disdainfully, "That’s because you don’t understand. What good food do we have to offer now? We should invite your good-for-nothing son next time, let them interact, and who knows? It might just work out."

The man muttered, "Always dreaming," complaining, "Your mind’s filled with nothing but our son finding a match."

"Won’t you be happy to have grandchildren soon?" she retorted.

Hearing this, the man couldn’t help but laugh, "Yes, I would."

The conference room within the Taylor Corporation was meticulously arranged with meeting essentials, boasting the title of the largest conference room in the company.

Every standard was set to the highest specification, a testament to the importance of the meeting.

This significance was underscored by the guest, Damien Sterling, the president of the Sterling Group—a titan in City A known for building an empire with decisive and resolute actions.

Upon the door opening, Matthew Taylor was unexpectedly greeted by a man of a similar age, strikingly handsome.

Extending a hand in welcome, Matthew Taylor expressed his admiration, "It’s an honor to host you, Mr. Sterling. Your presence truly graces our Taylor Corporation!"

Damien Sterling stepped forward, his formidable presence dominating the room.

With a friendly handshake, he responded, "You flatter me, Mr. Taylor. There’s not a soul in the business world who isn’t aware of your father’s legendary saga. His respect is universal. Given that he entrusted the Taylor Corporation to you, you must undoubtedly possess exceptional qualities!"

Damien had a profound understanding of Matthew Taylor’s father—a man of sincerity and diligence, who started from scratch to build what was now a commercial empire.

However, Damien found Matthew, who had spent his formative years abroad and broke conventions with his innovative approach upon graduation, somewhat of an enigma.

If not for his curiosity about Matthew’s character, Damien might not have attended personally.

Once seated, Matthew allowed his assistant to spread out the documents and candidly stated, "Mr. Sterling, to be frank, we have multiple potential partners for this collaboration."

Cutting through the pleasantries, Matthew’s direct approach was a departure from his father’s style—a difference Damien found refreshing.

Damien, appreciating Matthew’s forthrightness yet hoping it stemmed from integrity rather than arrogance, couldn’t help but smile, the meaning behind it ambiguous, "Good, I appreciate your straightforwardness."
