Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 151: She Doesn’t Even Care!

Chapter 151: She Doesn’t Even Care!

Ava Garcia, although deeply touched by Emma Hart’s defense on her behalf, still took her aside, holding Emma’s hand and expressing her gratitude.

"I truly appreciate you speaking up for me," Ava said earnestly, "but the mistake was mine to begin with, and it’s only right that I take responsibility for it."

Seeing that Emma wanted to add something, Ava quickly continued, "Besides, the manager didn’t want to fire me. This was all for the sake of the company, and I don’t want to put him in a difficult position."

Perhaps it was Ava’s genuine sincerity that resonated with Emma, for she finally dropped the idea of complaining to Damian Sterling.

However, her expression remained somewhat sour.

After soothing Emma, Ava returned to the manager, and after a brief exchange, she hesitantly rejoined Emma, saying, "There’s something I remembered. This morning, I saw Ms. Sophia Greenwood arriving at the villa."

Sophia Greenwood? Emma was momentarily puzzled. What did her visit have to do with her?

Seeing Emma’s confused look, Ava didn’t expect her to understand but explained anyway, "I was guiding them when I overheard Sophia’s companion planning to drug Mr. Sterling at tonight’s dinner."

"Drug him?" Emma exclaimed in shock, startling Ava, who quickly covered her mouth.

"It’s just something I overheard vaguely. There’s a chance I might have misheard," Ava murmured, biting her lip.

She had no real reason to share this with Emma, but Emma’s act of standing up for her, seeking justice on her behalf, had moved Ava, prompting her to share the news.

Regardless, Emma was Damian Sterling’s legally wedded wife, and such a nefarious plan, whether or not it originated from Sophia Greenwood, could not be allowed to proceed.

This revelation struck Emma like lightning, leaving her stunned and deeply agitated.

"They, their despicable tactics, Damian Sterling must see through them, right? I know what to do..." Emma muttered, her gaze drifting away as she nervously twisted the hem of her dress. A flicker of complex emotions crossed her bright eyes.

Indeed, that was Damian Sterling. If such tactics could get someone into his bed, what was the point of his influence?

Ava noticed Emma’s insincerity, understanding more about her feelings.

Although the nature of Emma and Damian’s relationship was still unclear to Ava, it was evident that they hadn’t yet reached a stage of open and honest communication.

Despite wanting to help Emma Hart, Ava Garcia couldn’t help but caution, "Isn’t Miss Greenwood Mr. Sterling’s childhood sweetheart? Others might not stand a chance of deceiving him, but if Mr. Sterling lets his guard down around Miss Greenwood, wouldn’t that play right into their hands?"

Hearing this, Emma Hart seemed taken aback, as if Ava’s words held much weight.

Yet, why should she be upset over this? The man locked himself away in his room, accusing her of shamelessness. Why should she care if he preferred the company of another woman?

Such thoughts of defiance made Emma’s resolve waver.

Seeing her hesitation, Ava played her trump card: "Miss Emma, remember Mr. Sterling is your husband, the father of your future child! You can’t tolerate another woman trying to seduce him!"

That was it! Even if she didn’t care for Damian Sterling, she had to consider their unborn child.

As if a fog had lifted from her mind, or perhaps Ava’s words had echoed her deepest feelings, Emma nodded vigorously, her expression one of fierce determination.

She placed a firm hand on Ava’s shoulder, saying with grave sincerity, "Manager Garcia, I’ll need your help with this. I can’t let another woman fuck my husband!"

Ava Garcia, momentarily speechless, gave a wry smile.

The two then split up to take action.

Ava, still temporarily holding the position of manager until the end of the event, took advantage of her role to visit Sophia Greenwood’s room directly.

"Hello, I’ve come to deliver some fruit," she said, knocking on the door with a smile.

The woman who answered sampled the fruit and, finding it satisfactory, invited her in.

Inside, several women were discussing their plans.

Sophia Greenwood, arms crossed, remained silent.

"This is the perfect opportunity, Sophia. With that woman not around, you can finally make Damian Sterling yours!" one encouraged.

"Exactly, I’ve even prepared the drug for you. You can’t miss tonight’s dinner," another added.

Sophia, clearly annoyed by the pestering but intrigued by the idea, waved them off, saying, "Don’t worry, I’ll remember to slip it into his drink."

Ava Garcia, having overheard everything, silently placed the fruit tray on the table before leaving as naturally as she had entered.

Pacing anxiously at the corner of the hallway, Emma Hart was a bundle of nerves, constantly turning in circles until Ava Garcia emerged.

Without missing a beat, Emma rushed to her, eagerly inquiring, "How did it go? Did you manage to overhear any useful information?"

"They’re planning something for tonight’s dinner; the drug is likely to be slipped into the drinks. Remember to keep a close eye on Sophia Greenwood’s glass," Ava Garcia relayed everything she had overheard to Emma Hart, while simultaneously strategizing on how to foil their sinister plot.

After pondering for a moment, Emma had a stroke of inspiration and, grabbing Ava Garcia by the arm, asked, "Ava, could you help me get ahold of a waiter’s uniform?"

"Sure, are you planning to disguise yourself as a waiter?" Ava Garcia asked, suddenly realizing Emma’s plan.

With a mischievous squint, Emma nodded, ready to disguise herself and swap the drinks.

That evening, dressed in the waiter’s uniform Ava had procured, Emma applied makeup to ensure she looked sufficiently different.

Only after Ava confirmed her disguised appearance did Emma confidently head to the banquet.

The dinner was exceptionally grand, contrasting with the previous night’s focus on performances and showcasing the hosts’ collection.

This evening promised a feast, inviting guests to indulge in a plethora of exquisite dishes.

Having not had a sip of water since lunch, Emma’s eyes gleamed with temptation at the sight of the lavish spread.

If it weren’t for the critical mission at hand, she would have undoubtedly succumbed to the allure of the feast.

"She’ll likely make her move after the hosts’ toast. I’ve assigned you to the table next to them; remember to keep your identity under wraps," Ava whispered to Emma during a quiet moment, her concern palpable.

Emma, however, flashed an excited grin and winked at Ava, assuring, "Don’t worry, I can handle it."

With a professional smile, Emma then confidently approached the table she was assigned to, ready to enact her plan.
