Chapter 150: Threatening to Complain to Damian Sterling If Fired

Emma Hart spent the entire morning in her room, feeling bored and listless.

At noon, Damian Sterling’s assistant brought her lunch, but her sour mood left her with no appetite.

"Miss Emma, the president mentioned that if you don’t eat, he’ll come and feed you himself," the assistant said with a smile, which Emma found eerily unsettling.

Ultimately, under the formidable influence of Damian Sterling, she reluctantly ate some lunch.

After the assistant left, the room fell silent once again.

Bored to the brink, Emma wandered around her room until she remembered the salary from her afternoon’s work the day before.

Even if she didn’t work for the next two days, she was determined not to let her earnings from yesterday go unclaimed!

With thoughts of the money fueling her determination, Emma abruptly stood up, strode to the door, and swung it open... only to be met by the intimidating stares of two burly bodyguards standing to her left and right.

Their imposing presence immediately sapped the courage she had just mustered.

"No, I was just opening the door to get some fresh air. You guys are working hard," she said with a forced laugh, quickly turning around and waving at them before she shut the door.

Closing the door, Emma took a deep breath and felt an even stronger resentment towards Damian Sterling.

But staying put wasn’t a solution either, so she paced the room, looking for another way out.

Opening the rear window to peek outside, she realized she was on the second floor. The distance to the ground wasn’t great, but a jump would still be unpleasant.

Scanning the area near the window, her eyes lit up when she spotted a white drainpipe connected to the bathroom window.

Excitedly, she rushed to the bathroom, opened the window, and saw the drainpipe within reach.

"Heh, what good are bodyguards at the door when it’s just a room that’s holding me? You can’t keep me here," Emma boasted arrogantly.

Without hesitation, she climbed out of the bathroom window, reached for the drainpipe, and carefully slid down.

Safely reaching the ground, Emma was immensely proud of herself.

She had completely forgotten Damian Sterling’s previous warnings, caught up in the thrill and excitement of her successful escape.

Now that she had managed to escape, her next step was to find the manager from yesterday and claim her wages.

With this plan in mind, Emma stealthily made her way along the wall towards the lobby.

Due to it being the afternoon, the lobby wasn’t crowded, with just a few staff members tidying up here and there.

Emma Hart was about to ask one of them for the manager’s whereabouts when a furious shout from a corner caught her attention: "What did I tell you? Mr. Sterling must not be displeased, not at all! You think my words are just wind in your ears?"

A man, his name tag declaring him the "General Manager," was yelling, his face contorted with rage.

The commotion inevitably drew Emma’s gaze, and to her surprise, she found that the subject of the scolding was the supervisor herself.

The supervisor, head bowed, kept apologizing, her face full of regret.

If she had known the woman from yesterday was Damian Sterling’s wife, she would never have dared assign such work to her!

Yet, the supervisor was puzzled; if Emma Hart was Damian Sterling’s wife, why would she need to work here?

No longer needing to ponder this, the supervisor was abruptly told by the general manager, "Enough, go to HR and settle your salary. We can’t afford to keep a supervisor who won’t spare even Mr. Sterling’s wife."

The supervisor’s body jolted at these words, sighing inwardly. She had anticipated this outcome the moment she learned of Emma’s identity the previous night.

However, the supervisor bore no ill will towards Emma. After all, Emma hadn’t done anything wrong and had even solved the absence of a model. The supervisor was not one to repay kindness with hostility.

Before the supervisor could apologize to the general manager, an angry voice from behind interjected, "This isn’t the supervisor’s fault; I’m to blame!"

Both the supervisor and the general manager turned in astonishment towards the speaker, their surprise evident.

"Mrs. Sterling? I apologize, it was my failure to properly supervise my staff that led to Ava Garcia treating you so poorly yesterday." Upon seeing Emma Hart, the general manager’s forehead broke out in sweat, and he struggled to meet her gaze.

Everyone knew about the wealthy individuals who had made inappropriate comments towards her the previous night, only for Damian Sterling to break their hands; he now lacked the courage even to look at Emma.

Seeing the general manager’s swift change in demeanor, Emma was momentarily taken aback.

However, she quickly recovered and pointed at the supervisor, saying, "You can’t blame her for yesterday. I chose to work part-time myself. If you dare fire her, I’ll tell Damian Sterling you bullied me!"

Knowing her own words might carry little weight, Emma decisively invoked Damian Sterling’s name.

Ava Garcia stood by, her face a picture of surprise, hardly believing that Emma Hart would go to such lengths for her.

Seeing the general manager caught in a difficult position, Ava sighed and said to Emma Hart, "Miss Emma, it’s alright. It was my mistake, and the general manager is only acting in the best interest of the company."

Despite Ava’s words, Emma Hart remained indignant, puffing her cheeks and responding, "Supervisor, this situation has nothing to do with you. I can’t just stand by and watch you get fired because of me."

Emma Hart is someone who absolutely cannot stand to see others punished for her own mistakes.

Ava Garcia felt somewhat helpless at this, and the general manager even more so.

The decision to terminate Ava Garcia’s employment had Damian Sterling’s endorsement behind it; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so ruthless as to dismiss one of his own staff.

Ava was initially unaware of Emma Hart’s identity and hadn’t caused any real harm to Emma, so he had no desire to fire Ava.

However, faced with Damian Sterling’s authoritative position, he felt he had no choice but to proceed with the dismissal.

Unexpectedly, Emma Hart intervened, threatening to complain to Damian Sterling if Ava Garcia was fired, leaving the general manager with an even bigger headache.
