Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 962 - 955: Baffling

Chapter 962: Chapter 955: Baffling

"Based on historical analysis, the Snow Domain at that time was essentially under the control of outsiders, and the Duke of Snow Domain did not have any nobles related to the imperial family under his command, so the royal family of the Aud Empire and even families of later generations should have nothing to do with the Snow Domain," Baiyue said, frowning as he negated the point he had just raised.

"That’s strange, then why did that guy show mercy specifically to Ziang’s subordinates and even willing to listen to him?" Luo’er pondered.

"Could it be love at first sight?" Tangmo suggested.

"Don’t assume everyone is as shallow as you..." Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes, the mere thought of it making his scalp tingle.

"I’m not shallow, I truly love Luo’er," Tangmo retorted without any politeness.

"Hmm," Luo’er coughed awkwardly, then said with a furrowed brow, "Let’s not talk about irrelevant topics in this situation."

"Oh..." Tangmo pouted and sullenly lowered his head.

"If we were to enter the tomb now, would that ghost still attack us?" Luo’er asked, squinting his eyes.

"It’s hard to say, but I feel I probably won’t be attacked, as for the rest of you..." Cheng Ziang said, shaking his head helplessly.

"But we don’t feel comfortable just letting you go down there alone," Luo’er said, frowning.

"What’s there to worry about, just have Fula accompany me," Cheng Ziang said with a shrug.

"Let’s do this, I’ll go down with you," Luo’er decided after some thought.

"Are you... really tired of living?" Cheng Ziang asked bluntly.

"Don’t forget I have the luck bonus," Luo’er said indifferently.

"Do you really think that so-called fate of yours is reliable?" Cheng Ziang questioned with a frown.

"Proof has indeed shown it’s reliable. You’ve seen it yourself, I’ve faced so many dangers and yet I’m still unscathed," Luo’er said, spreading his hands dismissively.

"That’s called forcefully unscathed. Do you have any idea what condition your body is in? Have you ever foreseen whether your future involves a wheelchair or lying in bed?" Cheng Ziang accused.

"Ziang, don’t say such things," Tangmo said, displeased on hearing this.

"What’s wrong with speaking the truth? You all indulge him, and he indulges you in return. In this cycle, everyone ends up hurt," Cheng Ziang said, frowning and expressing his dissatisfaction.

"So what do you suggest, sacrificing a team member for every dangerous mission? Do you think that’s reasonable? Since the day the Advance Team was founded, we’ve never abandoned a comrade. Why do you always think that sacrifice is the only way for others to be redeemed?" Luo’er asked quietly yet pointedly.

"Sacrificing oneself for the sake of others, that’s your idea, isn’t it?" Cheng Ziang countered.

"That’s also your idea, isn’t it? Don’t paint yourself as if you’re so noble. If you were in my position, making those choices, you wouldn’t necessarily do any better, would you?" Luo’er equally fiercely replied.

"Ay, why do you guys always like to argue lately, is it because the weather’s too cold, making everyone irritable?" Axia couldn’t stand it anymore and stepped in to mediate.

"Sorry to make you see such a fuss," Luo’er took a deep breath, then said with a slight apology.

Cheng Ziang sighed deeply, then shook his head, muttering to himself, "That’s the predicament of a small team, unwilling to part with each other, unable to make sacrifices. Knowing full well there’s a pit ahead, yet continuously jumping into it over and over again."

"Knowing that we’re a small team is enough," Baiyue said coldly.

Just as the atmosphere fell into a deadlock, suddenly, everyone felt a distortion in the air’s magic. In an instant, Fulajie’er’s figure appeared above the burning flames.

"Luo’er Luo’er, the Night Elf has come out, should I bring her over?" Fulajie’er asked anxiously.

"How are they?" Luo’er stepped forward, asking with concern.

"Their squad was wiped out. I managed to get her out of the crypt, and now she’s heading towards the big guy. Should I have her come over?" Fulajie’er asked.

"As expected, anyone entering the crypt would die," Luo’er nodded, then looked up seriously and said, "Guide her here to us, and have Little Ke retreat as well!"

"Roger that!" Fulajie’er saluted in a military fashion, then vanished into the flames in the blink of an eye.

While Cheng Ziang was unconscious, Luo’er briefly shared what happened with the Night Elves’ team, so everyone knew what had occurred.

"Why did the Night Elves come north to the Snow Domain? What exactly do they want in this crypt?" Axia mused after hearing the conversation between Luo’er and Fulajie’er.

"With the Night Elves coming to the Snow Domain, would you Snow Elves also shun them like the Wood Elves do?" Luo’er asked curiously.

"Shun, yes, but not to the extreme like the Wood Elves. Wood Elves and Night Elves are mortal enemies, but as Snow Elves in the Northern region, we seldom have direct conflicts with those two Elf Races. So, although we Snow Elves also dislike those two kin, we don’t go as far as attacking on sight," Axia answered truthfully.

"It seems that the three main Elf Races don’t get along with each other, huh?" Tangmo couldn’t help but remark.

"The main issue between Wood Elves and Snow Elves is over heretics, while with Night Elves it’s about religious dissent. For Wood Elves, heresy is more detestable than dissent, but for Snow Elves, heretics are worse than dissenters," Baiyue explained from the side.

"Ah, it’s those messy religious conflicts again. Our Luo’er is clearly an atheist, yet he got dragged into this mess. It’s infuriating," Tangmo said with frustration.

"Is Captain Luo’er planning to shelter that Night Elf, and use her as a stepping stone to reach Xia Yue Island?" Axia looked at Luo’er and asked.

"Yes, that’s exactly what I’m thinking," Luo’er nodded in confirmation, "Night Elves and Wood Elves are sworn enemies. Although I’m just a half-blood, there’s no guarantee I won’t get implicated. If we can gain the trust of a Night Elf to guide us onto the island, I feel things might go smoother."

"If we don’t do so, we might get caught by the Night Elves as soon as we set foot on the island, and that would be a serious problem. You have to know our Luo’er is..." Tangmo hadn’t finished speaking when Baiyue covered her mouth, and only upon meeting Cheng Ziang’s disapproving gaze did she realize she had nearly let something slip.

Seeing their actions, Axia just smiled faintly, choosing not to ask any questions. She could tell that Luo’er had some secret that couldn’t be disclosed, and the Advance Team’s lack of trust in her was probably why they behaved that way.

"It seems that you managed to escape last night thanks to Ziang’s efforts," Baiyue pondered for a while before drawing her conclusion.

"Why didn’t that terrifying guy hurt you, and why would he listen to you?" Luo’er stared at Cheng Ziang, utterly puzzled.

"Don’t ask me, I can’t figure it out either. Anyway, we’re not here to solve puzzles. Let’s not focus on that guy—find what we need and beat a quick retreat!" Cheng Ziang shrugged his shoulders and spoke.

About half an hour later, two figures appeared not far away. The Night Elf female Captain was seen clutching her chest, shivering like a sieve, with her large eyes occasionally glancing back in terror at the towering Hu Daoke behind her, looking very disheveled.

Hu Daoke, carrying his rifle, followed leisurely behind her, squinting his eyes as he appraised the female Captain’s backside with a faint smile. He was speaking something as he walked, likely conversing with Fulajie’er.

Upon seeing the female Captain arrive at the camp, Luo’er stood to greet her, then with an expressionless face extended his hands and said, "I already warned you not to go in there, but you wouldn’t listen. Now look what happened, all your people gone."

"Was it you who set the trap in that crypt?" The female Captain stared at Luo’er, her words bitten off with vehemence.

"Don’t mistake kindness for an offense. I sent someone to save you, you could at least thank me instead of accusing me of killing your people. That’s just absurd," Luo’er responded indifferently.

"I escaped following the guidance of the gods, with her help. What does that have to do with you? Don’t pat yourself on the back, Wood Elf!" The female Captain said ungraciously.
