Chapter 963: Chapter 956: Talis
"Oh, the goddess you’re referring to, is it her?" Luo’er shrugged his shoulders, then stretched out his hand, palm facing upward.
Understanding Luo’er’s gesture, Fulajie’er flew onto his palm and then used her magical power to materialize. She sat on his palm with her arms crossed, looking irately at the Night Elves female captain while swinging her cute little legs back and forth.
"This, this is..." Seeing Fulajie’er suddenly appear, the captain showed extreme fear, shuddered all over, and collapsed powerlessly to the ground.
The reason for her tremendous fear was primarily because Fulajie’er looked almost identical to the Flying Head Monster they had encountered, except Fulajie’er had a complete body, while the Flying Head Monster had only a head and long hair.
Seeing her collapse in fright, Fulajie’er lightly leaped from Luo’er’s palm and then flew in front of her, saying coldly after coming into contact with her domain, "I was commanded by Luo’er to protect you and rescue you, yet you accuse him like this, disappointing me greatly."
"You, you are the goddess who has been protecting me, I’m sorry..." Hearing this familiar voice, the captain was overwhelmed with excitement, she even prostrated herself on the ground, showing her utmost respect.
"Hmph," Fulajie’er hovered in mid-air, hands on her hips, looking down and said, "Since you call me a goddess, you must also respect Luo’er, for he is also my master!"
"Master..." Hearing her words, the captain suddenly raised her head, her eyes wide with shock, and asked, "Goddess, what are you talking about? You mean that Wood Elf..."
"His name is Luo’er. If you call him ’Wood Elf’ one more time, I’ll be furious!" Fulajie’er said irritably.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry..." the captain apologized repeatedly.
"That’s enough, Fulajie’er," Luo’er waved his hand, then stepped forward and leaned down to offer his hand, saying, "Do you believe me now?"
"Who exactly are you?" The captain hesitated for a moment but still reached out her hand, letting Luo’er help her up.
"Before answering your question," said Luo’er, letting go of her hand nonchalantly after helping the captain up, "it seems I still don’t know your name."
The captain, with her Night Elves’ unique dark purple pupils, stared intently at Luo’er and, after pressing her lips together, she replied simply, "I, my name is Talis, from Xia Yue Island."
"Pleased to meet you, Captain Talis. I believe you already know my name, but I’ll introduce myself again. I’m Luo’er, captain of this adventurous team, and as you can see, I am a half-blood Wood Elf." Luo’er nodded, introducing himself as well.
"There’s no need to add ’Captain’, my team is all dead, I don’t deserve to be a captain..." Talis said, looking down with a sorrowful expression.
"Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend." Luo’er apologized.
"You didn’t save me just out of kindness, did you?" Talis stared at Luo’er and asked.
"Of course. I’m just curious, why wouldn’t you Night Elves stay on Xia Yue Island, but come to this tomb in the Snow Domain?" Luo’er asked directly.
"That has nothing to do with you." Talis replied coldly.
"Don’t be so nervous. We mean no harm. I just think that if our interests align, we might consider an alliance." Luo’er gestured with his hand.
"An alliance with me?" Hearing Luo’er’s words, Talis narrowed her eyes warily.
"Of course." Luo’er blinked, nodding somewhat sheepishly.
After staring at Luo’er for a long while, Talis averted her gaze and then revealed a scornful smile, "It’s not that simple, is it? I have neither people nor weapons now, I have no value to offer for an alliance. Your so-called alliance must have another motive, right?"
"You are indeed clever..." Seeing he could no longer conceal, Luo’er admitted, albeit with a bit of embarrassment.
"It was your act that was too clumsy. Tell me, what exactly do you want?" Talis shifted her gaze and asked.
"Here’s the thing," Luo’er decided to disclose their need openly since hiding it was no longer an option, "I hope you can take us to Xia Yue Island. If you can help us get onto the island, we can help you enter the tomb beneath to find what you’re looking for."
"What are you going to Xia Yue Island for?" Upon hearing Luo’er’s words, Talis’s eyes instantly became vigilant.
"Don’t be tense, I’m a half-blood Wood Elf, not a pure Wood Elf, the conflict between Xia Yue Island and Ilanadale has nothing to do with us." Luo’er reassured with a hand gesture.
"Who exactly are you?" Talis frowned, her face still wary.
"Can’t you tell? We are an adventurer party," Luo’er said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Then why can you receive the goddess’ favor?" Talis asked, looking at Fulajie’er.
"Just a stroke of serendipity," Luo’er replied.
"No, I don’t believe you," Talis hesitated for a long time but still shook her head, rejecting Luo’er’s proposal.
"Boss, since she won’t budge, let’s just go hard!" Hu Daoke, unable to stand it any longer, said to Luo’er in Chinese.
"What did he say?" Hearing his words, Talis looked at Luo’er and asked with a frown.
"Don’t be nervous. He just made a little suggestion," Luo’er responded calmly.
Hearing his words, Talis looked around and suddenly felt a twinge of unease. She took a deep breath, then bit her lip and stared at Luo’er. "You’re trying to coerce me, aren’t you?"
"I didn’t say that," Luo’er shrugged and then said with a smile, "But it seems you’ve come up with a good suggestion."
Although his tone was even, the threat was blatant. Facing the obstinate Night Elf, Luo’er was gradually losing patience.
"Don’t try to run; you certainly won’t escape," Cheng Ziang said behind Luo’er, his arms folded and his voice indifferent. As soon as his words ended, Feng drew his long sword with a clang from not too far away, the threat unmistakable.
"Your Advance Team has been acting more and more brusquely lately," Axia couldn’t help but shake her head and sighed.
"As long as the goal is achieved, who likes to beat around the bush?" Cheng Ziang said nonchalantly.
"Let me try, since this Night Elf miss doesn’t want to trust a Wood Elf, perhaps she’ll let me, a Snow Elf, have a try," Axia stepped forward and volunteered herself.
"This..." Seeing Axia take the initiative, Luo’er showed a surprised look, but the corners of his eyes betrayed a hint of delight.
"Not welcome?" Axia asked with a smile.
"No, no, no, having Aunt Axia take action personally, we couldn’t be more grateful," Luo’er said, shaking his head excitedly.
The reason for his excitement was that he could see Axia seemed to be getting involved in the Advance Team’s operations. This was a good sign, meaning Axia was no longer staying out of it but starting to recognize the interests of the Advance Team and willing to serve them. This meant that once they returned to base, the headquarters could directly recruit her.
"Thank you, Captain Luo’er, for giving me this opportunity," Axia said with a slight smile, deliberately speaking out.
"No, no, no, it should be I, on behalf of the Advance Team and the headquarters, who should thank Aunt Axia," Luo’er said, waving his hand.
Axia smiled, then turned her head to look at Talis and said with narrowed eyes, "You don’t believe what that Wood Elf said, so you should believe what I say, right?"
"You are just a Snow Elf; don’t act like you’re very familiar with us Night Elves," Talis said warily.
"What if I tell you that I worship the main god Xiapei Kam?" Axia asked with a smile.
"You, you worship Sir Xiapei Kam?" Talis was stunned to hear her words.
"What? Don’t you believe me? Do you think I’m deceiving you?" Axia asked.
"How can you prove it?" Talis asked with a frown.
"Do you need me to recite all the teachings of Xiapei Kam?" Axia asked, tilting her head.
