Chapter 798: Chapter 791: Waiting for the Appointment

"I didn’t expect your boss to be so loyal." Hearing this, Luoer was quite surprised. He never thought that this Azita was so popular in the underground of Holy Heart City.

The bartender swallowed, hesitated to look at Luoer, and after a long hesitation, he replied, "Booze Ghost Gang is just a flash in the pan. All the establishments here were built by Boss Azita himself. Those people took over in the time of his downfall. They have no legitimacy whatsoever."

"Aren’t you afraid that I’m from the Booze Ghost Gang when you speak like this?" Luoer asked, staring at him.

"I’m not afraid," said the bartender, shaking his head.

"Why?" Luoer was puzzled by his steadfast attitude.

"The Booze Ghost Gang wouldn’t shelter a half-elf." The bartender stared straight at Luoer, and following his gaze, Luoer realized that his elf ears had somehow been exposed.

"Okay then," Luoer picked up his handgun from the table, turned off the safety, and stuffed it into his holster. He then said to the bartender, "Since you’re from the Hound Gang, you should let your boss know that an old friend has arrived."

"I should go?" The bartender pointed at himself in surprise.

"Who else?" Luoer shrugged.

"You mean, you’re not worried I might run away?" the bartender asked, his eyes wide as he looked at Luoer.

"If you run off, I’ll destroy this place and force your leader to appear. After all, all the business here belongs to the Hound Gang. I’m not worried about finding them," said Luoer indifferently.

"But, I..." the bartender hesitated and looked at the machine gun pointed at him.

"Go." Luoer motioned to Hu Daoke to lower his gun.

The relieved bartender cautiously left the counter, then rolled and crawled until he left Luoer and the others’ sight.

"Boss, aren’t you worried that he might run away?" Hu Daoke walked by Luoer’s side, looking at the bartender escaping, he asked worryingly.

"We can only give it a shot. It’s the fastest way to find the Hound Gang." Luoer shrugged and said calmly, "If we looked for the gang in the slum, it’s too difficult and dangerous. I don’t want to keep struggling as long as there’s a shortcut."

"But what if he goes and snitches to the Booze Ghost Gang?" Hu Daoke asked anxiously.

"Do you really think these muddled Booze Ghost Gang members can do anything to us now?" Luoer asked.

"Right, I almost forgot, we have Feng as our trump card!" Hu Daoke realized this and slapped his head. Then he casually tossed the machine gun onto the counter.

"Boss, can I have a drink?" Hu Daoke rested his hands on the counter, ready to jump in.

"Just one, and get me one too," Luoer nodded.

"Sure thing!" After getting Luoer’s approval, Hu Daoke excitably jumped over the counter and started rummaging for liquor.

"Are you two thirsty?" Luoer turned his head and asked Eve and Jora.

"A kind of...." They glanced at each other, and Jora swallowed, then nodded in agreement.

"Look for some low-alcohol content drink, preferably fruit vinegar." Luoer turned his head back and told Hu Daoke, who was still rummaging.

Hu Daoke rummaged around and found a bottle of Erguotou, with a big red star printed on it. He held up the bottle and excitedly said to Luoer, "Luoer, look what I’ve found."

"You’re not allowed to drink that, look for some local liquor," Luoer rolled his eyes.

"Oh okay," Hu Daoke said, obviously disappointed, and put the bottle back down. He started to search again.

He found a wooden crate in the corner of the room, with a metal sheet nailed onto it. It was clear it had not been unsealed. So, he pulled out his dagger, cut off the metal sheet, and then forcefully pried open the lid of the crate.

"Wow, look at what I found here." Hu Daoke said, smugly pulling two glass bottles of cola out of the crate.

It was a strange feeling to find cola in a tavern in this otherworld. Staring at Hu Daoke showing off his cola, Luoer was momentarily at a loss for words, standing there dumbstruck.

"Here, boss." Hu Daoke said, placing the two bottles of cola on the bar countertop.

"Is there more?" Luoer used his dagger to pry open the metal cap on the bottle and then handed it to the siblings, Eve.

"Yes, as much as you want," Hu Daoke said, fetching two more bottles of cola from inside. He threw one to Feng, who was standing by the door. "Feng, catch!"

Feng caught the bottle of cola and immediately her eyes lit up at the sight of its color. A hint of delight appeared on her usually impassive face.

She had tasted this beverage before on the airship of Ronisca, supplied by the logistics of the High-Peak people. The stimulating and sweet taste of the cola had been unforgettable.

For Luoer and the others, such goods from the Industrial Age were easily accessible, but in the largely agricultural society of the Otherworld, these industrial products were considered precious.

Feng held the cola bottle and, after hesitating for a moment, prepared to chop off the neck of the bottle with her long knife, but was stopped by Luoer.

"Wait a moment!" Luoer prevented Feng’s rash action, then picked up a bottle of cola, knocked it firmly against the bartop, and easily removed the cap.

Noticing Luoer’s action, Feng replicated it and bumped her bottle against the door frame, easily popping off the cap. The sweet liquid, mixed with carbon dioxide, immediately bubbled out.

Eve, who had been handed the cola, didn’t immediately open it but rather eyed Luoer suspiciously. Only after seeing him take a swig of the dark liquid did she feel reassured enough to take a sip, resulting in a fit of violent coughing, and she spat out the cola.

"Are you okay?" Luoer asked her, looking at her.

"What is this, poison?" Eve asked, staring wide-eyed at Luoer in terror.

"Have you ever seen someone drink poison like a beverage?" Luoer shrugged and took another sip.

Seeing Luoer’s action, Eve was very confused. She glanced around and saw that not just Luoer, but even the killer girl was sipping and enjoying the brown liquid. She looked back to see that Jora too was gulping it down.

"You should drink it slowly. This stuff is meant to be sipped." Luoer said, looking at her.

Hearing Luoer’s advice, Eve coughed awkwardly and then asked Luoer, "How long are we going to stay here?"

"Until when? Of course, until the people from the Hound Gang arrive." Luoer answered matter-of-factly.

"You’re going to hand us over to them?" Eve asked, gripped by fear.

"Do you have paranoia? Why are you always assuming we’re going to harm you," Luoer shrugged and continued, "Right now, you’re being hunted down by the Booze Ghost Gang because those people from Earth still don’t know you’re with us. If they knew, not just the Booze Ghost Gang might be after you."

"What do you mean?" Eve asked, looking at him.

"Don’t forget, those people from Earth are partners with the royal family of Odelanqi. If they really get annoyed, they might send the army of Holy Heart City to destroy us. We will have nowhere to hide then, unless we can leave the city." Luoer said.

"How can this be..." Hearing his words, Eve stood there in shock, muttering to herself dazedly.

"From the moment you met us, you should have anticipated this situation. We and the Booze Ghost Gang are like opposing chess pieces, and you, you are the chip." Luoer said.

"Why? Just because I am related to Fu’en, just because I might know the method to open the Otherworld Gate?" Eve asked, somewhat puzzled.

"People often find it hard to understand their true worth. These things may seem insignificant to you, but for us, we must seize every opportunity. Once missed, it is almost impossible to have a second chance." Luoer said.
