Chapter 793: Chapter 786: Returning to the Urban Area
"Isn’t it kind of bad to speak like that? Be careful what you say, she might overhear." Luoer said, sounding somewhat embarrassed after hearing Tangmo’s complaint.
"It’s meant for her to hear, what’s wrong with that." Tangmo replied nonchalantly.
With a gentle sigh, Luoer gave her a look and said, "To be honest, sometimes I get confused who I really like, or if it’s just Tangmo alone that I like."
"Why not have both? What’s the issue? After all, I am her, and she is me." Upon hearing the word ’like’ from Luoer, Tangmo was instantly elated.
"I’m not that kind of person." Luoer said helplessly.
"Luoer," instead of continuing with the topic at hand, Tangmo peered at him and said tentatively, "you rarely come back and you’re leaving again tomorrow, maybe we should..."
"Should what?" Although Luoer knew Tangmo had some ulterior motive, he still forced himself to ask.
"I mean we should have a good gathering, aren’t you thinking of something else?" Tangmo revealed a sly smile, watching him with twinkling eyes.
"Uh, I was thinking the same." Luoer coughed, lowered his head and said awkwardly.
Luoer seemed a bit worn out the next day after being harassed by Tangmo all night. It was a good thing he kicked Tangmo out of the room before sleep, otherwise, he might not have kept his chastity.
"Boss, you should take it easy." While walking through the campus, Hu Daoke couldn’t help but speak looking at Luoer.
"Alright, you know I’m not that kind of person. Stop messing with me." Luoer shook his head.
"Speaking of which, when we leave today, will we be immediately coming back?" Hu Daoke asked.
"Hmm, we are leaving to take care of Eve and her siblings. We must avoid them falling into the hands of the Booze Ghost Gang or even the CIA. And by the way, we will also deal with the power struggle between the Booze Ghost Gang and the Hound Gang, so Azita doesn’t get wiped out by them." Luoer nodded and explained.
"I think if Eve is so important, why don’t we escort her to Headquarters with Feng? Once there, we can truly rule." Hu Daoke suggested.
"That makes sense, but we still have to wait for Ziang’s message. If he can find the way to open the Otherworld Gate, maybe we could use Eve to our advantage." Luoer added.
"What do you mean?" Hu Daoke looked puzzled.
"The goal of the CIA is to prevent us from opening the Otherworld Gate, but they do not necessarily know whether we actually know how to open it. So, they will surely monitor us closely. So let’s assume, if Ziang manages to find out how to open the Otherworld Gate from the Church Court, we can use Eve to distract the CIA. This would give Headquarters an opportunity to open the Otherworld Gate." Luoer explained.
"Do you think they’ll fall for it?" Hu Daoke asked.
"Unless the CIA has insiders in our Headquarters, it would be difficult for them to know whether we have the ability to open the Otherworld Gate or not. If we put up a show suggesting that Eve is our only lifeline, I am sure we can easily divert their attention. This would give our Headquarters a chance to open the Otherworld Gate without their interference." Luoer explained.
"Oh, so that’s it, a kind of ’lure the tiger away from the mountain’ plan." Hu Daoke finally comprehended.
"Pretty much. Both misunderstanding and strategy are based on unequal information between us. We should fully utilize this fact to lure them into our trap." Luoer said.
"Boss, you’re so wise!" Hu Daoke praised, giving him a thumbs-up.
"Enough, stop buttering me up. Let’s get in the car!" Luoer joked, shaking his head.
The two of them boarded a carriage heading for the Eastern District of the city. The carriage then left the academy, heading towards the Eastern District.
Although the Church Court’s headquarters were a strong ally, the secular government of Holy Heart City also wielded great power. These people collaborated with the Central Intelligence Agency, making every move they made very cautious.
The headquarters had always been actively seeking influence in the northeastern areas of the continent, neglecting the development of the west in the process. The headquarters and the Central Intelligence Agency seemed to have an understanding between them; one controlled the east, the other west. They had coexisted in peace for over a decade.
However, as their investments in the Otherworld increased, the conflicts between them became more intense and frequent. After finishing their investments in Ronisca and Masya, the headquarters were finally able to turn their attention to the West, specifically the Odelanqi forces, which had long been controlled by the Central Intelligence Agency.
Once the control over Odelaunch is complete, the headquarters would have essentially completed all of the work for the first phase. Their sphere of influence would span the entire northern region of the continent, beginning to radiate southwards.
Thanks to the Tuo Luoer siblings, the headquarters was able to establish a connection with the Wood Elf Kingdom of Ilanadale without much effort. The headquarters valued this relationship because they hoped to build Ilanadale into a southern base, laying a foundation for their future expansion in the south.
There was a prevailing belief on Earth. Since the laws of the Otherworld were completely different from those of Earth, and earthlings could not control the laws of the Otherworld, what exactly was the purpose of our relentless attempts to control the Otherworld?
Although the laws of the two worlds are different, they both have civilizations. Development is the primary aim of civilization, and whether it is achieved through control or war, it essentially is a part of development.
Truth be told, no one can truly control the laws at play. Even earthlings cannot command the laws of the Earth and can only utilize them. Similarly, while earthlings may not be able to control the laws of the Otherworld, it does not mean they cannot use them.
There are still many mysteries about the Otherworld that remain unexplained, but the ones that are known are exhilarating enough. The Elf Planet Project, for instance, a classic example, directly realizes the human wish for eternal life.
Hence, no one can guarantee if this magical world does not hold any more surprises, so everyone will try to exert their influence on it, striving to control it.
The plan for humans to venture into the cosmos is still too distant, but controlling the Otherworld seems much easier in comparison.
The weather was slightly drier on the second day. When they alighted from the carriage, the mud on the ground had dried but was quickly ground to dust by the passing pedestrians and carriages, hanging in the air.
Hu Daoke was still cautious, fearing that he might step into cow dung as soon as he got off the carriage, so he looked very careful while alighting.
Luoer instinctively surveyed the surroundings, worried that they might reveal their tracks. After making sure it was safe, he gestured to Hu Daoke and they headed towards the inn.
Unlike their previous outing, this time they were fully equipped with weapons, in case of any emergencies. The Booze Ghost Gang and the Hound Gang were in the heat of a conflict, and Luoer had plans to interfere so as not to give the Booze Ghost Gang the upper hand. If neither side could gain an advantage, that would be ideal. The loot they didn’t plan on taking wouldn’t be left for the enemy either.
Following the bustling street, the two of them arrived at the inn without encountering any trouble, and headed straight to the room where Eve and her team were staying.
As soon as they reached the door and were about to knock, the door was opened, and Feng poked her head out. As she saw Luoer, her typically emotionless face brightened with joy.
"How did you know we were coming?" Hu Daoke, taken aback, asked her.
"Don’t forget that Feng’s perception is very strong," Luoer explained nonchalantly.
The two entered the room where Eve was sitting on the bed talking to her brother Jora. Seeing the two of them come in, Eve got up excitedly and asked Luoer, "Well, have you decided to accompany us back to the Snow Domain?"
"Don’t rush, you’re in a lot of trouble right now; think about how to survive first," Luoer waved his hand and said.
"As long as we can leave Holy Heart City, they won’t be able to threaten us anymore," Eve said anxiously.
"First, you have to be able to leave Holy Heart City," Luoer shrugged and replied.
