Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 753 - 746: Ziye’s Sniper
Chapter 753: Chapter 746: Ziye’s Sniper
The meeting concluded close to nightfall, and everyone immediately began to prepare. Reimer mobilized his main battle airship’s ground forces to prepare for the offensive. The main airship came equipped with two transport planes, which could swiftly follow up and seize control of the area after the Advance Team had taken over the surface of the Asirens.
However, given how things had escalated, Luoer’s greater concern now was whether there were traitors for Mu Lansi within the aerial fleet. If there were, and he informed Mu Lansi of the Advance Team’s imminent plan, then they would be walking right into a trap.
Given this consideration, Luoer asked Reimer to screen the crew members as well as the ground forces on the two warships in the aerial fleet. They were to complete this task by midnight and prepare to coordinate with the Advance Team.
According to Luoer’s arrangement, the Advance Team would launch their attack in the latter half of the night, using the cover of darkness to disable the three anti-aircraft positions on the back of the Asirens. This would create a passageway for the follow-up forces.
Reimer’s interests were now tied to those of Luoer and his people so he didn’t object to Luoer’s near-command tone. As soon as Luoer made this request, Reimer immediately began to act accordingly.
Ensuring that there was no communicative leakage between these two airboats proved neither too difficult nor too easy. As long as they controlled communication with the Asirens and screened the crew members and ground forces for any illicit use of Messenger Magic, they could limit potential leaks.
Messenger Magic works through point-to-point communication, and only designated devices could join the connection with the Asirens. Thus, the focus of their search became whether anyone held the rune of Messenger Magic.
After preparations, midnight approached. Baiyue, wearing Fulajie’er’s pendant, boarded one of the transport planes alone, shielded by the envelope of darkness as she began heading towards the Asirens.
At the same time, Luoer and the others boarded another transport plane, then began to ascend steadily. They soared to a height of over five hundred meters above the Asirens, holding a stationary position relative to it.
Shortly after, the transport plane carrying Baiyue reached the side of the Asirens, all its lights switched off, appearing like a night raven in the darkness. The Asirens in front of them exhibited no sign of lighting, giving off the impression of a massive lurking beast.
She slid open one of the cabin doors, braced her M14 EBR semi-automatic rifle on the ground, and began searching for her target.
"It’s too dark; I can’t see anything." Baiyue was searching when Fulajie’er’s worried voice reached her ear.
"Don’t worry; we will be able to see soon," Baiyue responded calmly.
After a short while, a flurry of gunfire resonated from the rear of the Asirens. Subsequently, several bright columns of light streaked across the back of the Asirens, flying several kilometers before they finally plunged into the pitch-dark land, like falling meteors.
These were tracer bullets fired from a reconnaissance aircraft, intended to provide brief illuminations for Baiyue’s sniping. Though the process was brief, Baiyue, who had prepared beforehand, quickly locked on to the position of an anti-aircraft defense position.
The dwarves at the defense position were startled by the tracer bullets and hastily manned the machine gun. However, the reconnaissance aircraft that had fired the tracer bullets had already returned to the main battle airship.
"Fula, confirm their status!" Baiyue aimed her sniper rifle at a certain location and commanded.
"Roger that!" Fulajie’er replied, immediately flying towards the last known anti-aircraft position.
In no time, she flew back and reported: "He’s still in the same spot. He seems very nervous."
"Got it!" Baiyue responded calmly before starting her mental calculations to determine the parameters for the shot.
For her, in these circumstances, a one-shot kill was very challenging. She could take multiple shots to ensure the target was thoroughly neutralized. However, Baiyue wanted to do it cleanly to make the subsequent work much easier.
After roughly five minutes of calculation, during which Baiyue sent Fulajie’er back and forth twice to confirm the exact situation, she had a clear idea in mind. Baiyue decisively pulled the trigger.
The M14EBR rifle jerked back sharply, but without making a sound; only the clatter of bullet casings ejected from the chamber echoing inside the cabin. This was the effect of her Magic Silencer. If Earth’s modern silencers had effectively silenced gunshots, then the Magic Silencer had completely erased the noise produced at the muzzle.
"Recon!" After a brief moment of deafness, Baiyue ordered Fulajie’er firmly.
"Yes!" Fulajie’er assented, and immediately flew towards the Asirens.
"Target down, there are still two of his companions!" Fulajie’er quickly returned and reported loudly.
"Understood, continue!" Baiyue said as she rapidly adjusted her muzzle and determined the approximate location of the remaining two people from her recent memory. This time, she didn’t go for one-shot kills, but kept pulling the trigger, ensuring that she hit the target.
She fired nineteen shots in one breath, completely emptying a magazine. Each shot created a sound vacuum area with the magic silencer, so she couldn’t hear her gunfire, only the recoil, which gave her a surreal feeling. However, the metallic sound of the falling shells brought her back to reality, unfooled by the illusion created by the magic silencer.
"All down, they’re all dead!" Fulajie’er’s reply allowed Baiyue to finally breath a sigh of relief, she immediately let go of the tight trigger.
"Inform Luoer, the landing zone is clear, ready for landing." Baiyue ordered Fulajie’er.
"Roger that, I’m on my way!" Fulajie’er said, and turned to fly towards the sky.
"Proceed to the predetermined landing area!" After ordering Fulajie’er, Baiyue turned her head and ordered the two dwarven pilots in standard Dwarven language.
"Understood!" The pilots nodded, and immediately began to adjust the posture of the transport plane.
In fact, they could understand Tasta language spoken by Baiyue, after all, as dwarf pilots, it’s impossible not to learn the common Tasta language used widely across the continent.
Upon receiving Baiyue’s command, Luoer and the rest slowly began to descend, and soon landed at a location more than two meters behind the Asirens airship.
This is the parking platform for Asirens’ transport aircraft. Not far away is an anti-aircraft position, but Baiyue had already dealt with this position, so they could land without worry.
"Feng, remember the position of the remaining two anti-aircraft positions?" Luoer asked Feng after opening the cabin door.
"Remembered!" Feng nodded in response.
"Good, take them out and then gather up. Remember, do it skillfully!" Luoer reminded.
"Understood!" Feng nodded, a frosty expression once again appearing on her face.
Then, she jumped down through the open cabin door. Such a height was nothing to her, not to mention she was equipped with an ultra-mobility device.
"Control the landing area, wait for the ground forces to arrive before taking action!" After sending off Feng, Luoer raised his rifle and commanded the team.
Upon his command, the four members of the advance team jumped from the transport plane, with their guns alert at the landing platform. After dropping off the advance team, the transport plane returned to the main battle airship, preparing to bring the dwarves’ air force ground forces for support.
"Luoer, I’m here!" As soon as Luoer landed, Fulajie’er’s voice came from his earpiece.
"Guard the passage, scout the enemy!" Luoer ordered succinctly.
"Understood!" Fulajie’er responded, and immediately flew towards the passage connecting the platform to the deck.
Baiyue’s transport plane arrived at the platform shortly after the four landed. Then, Baiyue, holding a 47-type rifle, jumped off the transport plane. Her semi-automatic rifle wasn’t suitable for indoor combat, so she left it on the transport plane.
"Luoer!" Baiyue, clutching her rifle, walked over to Luoer, looking at him expectantly.
"Well done!" Luoer said with a smile.
"Thank you!" Hearing Luoer’s praise, Baiyue shyly lowered her head and her cheeks turned a faint pink.
