Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 754 - 747: Phantom of the Dark Night

Chapter 754: Chapter 747: Phantom of the Dark Night

Soon, the silhouettes of two transport planes carrying marines appeared in the sky. Seeing the two transport planes approaching, Luoer nodded and then turned to Baiyue and said, "You wait here for Feng to return, and then set off. We will go and search for traces of Mu Lansi first."

"Mmm, take care!" Baiyue nodded and said, worrying.

"Don’t worry, we still have Fula!" Luoer smiled, then picked up his gun and came to the others. After making a gesture to each other, the four began to take turns covering and entered the Asirens.

As a ground support ship, the Asirens had basically no single-soldier combat force like the marines, making it vulnerable once attacked by enemies onboard.

Of course, Luoer dare not take it lightly. After all, if Mu Lansi can induce the Asirens to betray, it means that he might have made sufficient preparations. Recklessly rushing in could easily lead to a crushing counterattack.

"Check the ammunition in your weapons. Fula, you scout ahead while we maintain a search formation. I’ll lead, and Momo will cover our rear!" Upon reaching the corridor, Luoer whispered to the team.

"Roger!" Tangmo nodded, leading from the rear with his gun.

I must say, Momo proves particularly useful on this kind of special operations mission. If nothing else, at least Luoer is more willing to trust her.

The rifles in their hands were equipped with magic silencers and quick-aim reflection optics. Since entering Otherworld, this was the first time they felt their weapons were so advanced.

"Luoer, there are two people coming around the corner!" Fulajie’er returned to report after a while.

"Identifying features!" Luoer reminded.

"Oh," Fulajie’er hesitated for a moment, then quickly said, "Two people, no weapons, it seems that they are not armed personnel."

"Got it, keep checking if anyone is following them." Luoer ordered.

"Yes!" Fulajie’er nodded, her voice disappearing at once.

Luoer made a stop gesture, then raised and aimed his rifle at the corner of the corridor. Breathing deeply, he suddenly had a thought and adjusted the muzzle downward a bit.

Before the operation started, Cheng Ziang had reminded Luoer not to make the mistake of applying his prior experiences. The Dwarves were called as such because they were much shorter than the Human Race.

The position Luoer just aimed at was the head height of a standard Human Race. This way, as long as the target appeared, he could shoot them in the head instantly. However, as their combat targets now were Dwarves, continuing to use the Human Race’s standard would likely lead to a miss.

Since it was a special operation, Luoer naturally wouldn’t be merciful towards these Dwarves. After all, if this operation had been approved, it meant that Reimer had agreed that he could kill anyone aboard the Asirens, regardless of their innocence.

Right now, it was crucial to find Mu Lansi and resolve the betrayal of the Asirens. He didn’t have the luxury to discern who was an enemy and who was an innocent aboard the Asirens.

"There’s no one behind them, only the two of them!" Fulajie’er flew back to Luoer and whispered her report soon.

Her report came at the perfect moment. As soon as she finished speaking, two Dwarf crew members appeared at the corridor’s corner. Unaware of the danger, they chatted while walking.

Without hesitation, Luoer pulled the trigger, and the 47-type rifle equipped with a magic silencer once again created a sound vacuum at its muzzle. Luoer only felt an orderly recoil of the gun body, followed by a slight burst of flame from the muzzle.

Not far away, two dwarves’ heads were blown open in an instant. A bullet shot one of the dwarves in the temple and exploded his head; the other was hit just behind the ear.

They never heard the gunshot; they died without understanding why. After being shot, their bodies jerked violently and then fell face-first onto the ground, leaving two pools of blood on the wall.

Admittedly, while the Magic Silencer perfectly silenced the muzzle noise, it relatively weakened the suppression of the muzzle flash. There are always trade-offs — improvements from the research center are just awaited.

To minimize the noises that might interfere with their infiltration mission, the rifles of the Advance Team were equipped with modular shell casings. Baiyue could still hear the sound of shell casings hitting the ground when firing on the Transport Plane. Yet, Luoer couldn’t hear anything. If he hadn’t been paying attention, he wouldn’t even have believed it was he who shot those two dwarves.

"Clear, proceed!" Witnessing Luoer killing the two dwarves, Fulajie’er immediately looked around and then flew back to report.

Fulajie’er was developing in the direction Luoer most wanted to see: towards becoming an artificial intelligence system. She could guide the Advance Team’s actions based on reconnaissance and intelligence analysis, instead of always waiting for his commands. This was less cumbersome and reduced the risk of missing opportunities.

"Understood, proceed!" Luoer replied satisfactorily, nodding his head before giving hand signals and low-voiced orders.

As they ventured further into the Asirens, the atmosphere became even tenser. It was late at night, most of the crew was off duty, resting. Moreover, to ensure the Asirens had enough energy to reach Baales, lights were strictly regulated. The dimmed corridor lights made the entire corridor look eerie and dangerous.

However, Luoer could easily ignore these problems. He now had Fulajie’er, the Ghost System, scouting ahead, making him fearless of hidden enemies.

"Three people coming from the left branch of the corridor, most likely patrol guards, armed with three long guns," Fulajie’er reported after a short while.

Perhaps it was due to the Influence Realm, but she also intentionally lowered her voice. Even though her voice relied on the Soul Domain, she preferred to live as a real person would.

"Received!" Luoer nodded, then patted Cheng Ziang behind him. The latter immediately understood his intentions and moved to the other side of the corridor and raised his rifle, synchronizing with Luoer.

The 47-style rifle again trembled silently, and the three dwarven gunmen fell silently like stalks cut by a sharp knife.

"Clear, proceed!" After about ten seconds of completing the shooting, Fulajie’er flew back to report.

In this manner, the team, like ghosts hidden in the dark, proceeded smoothly while taking down their targets and gradually approached the bridge of the Asirens.

Just as Luoer squatted in a corner to catch his breath, a gun noise was suddenly heard from afar. It was harsh against the quiet night. It must be the infantry causing a ruckus with the enemy. They didn’t have silencers and could easily make a lot of noise.

"We’re out of time," Hearing the gunfire, Luoer felt a jolt, checked the time, then unanimously said to Fulajie’er, "Fula, I’m giving you two minutes. Search the bridge for Mu Lansi. If he’s not there, we’ll move!"

"Understood, I’m on it!" Fulajie’er nodded seriously and left.

"Everyone, move towards the bridge in alert formation; we have to hurry. Free fire is allowed!" After sending off Fulajie’er, Luoer lifted his gun and ordered.

"Received!" Everyone else nodded.

Without Fulajie’er’s vigilance and reconnaissance, they had to be more alert for potential enemies. It was indeed a test for them. The Advance Team couldn’t always rely on Fulajie’er. She should be a driving force for the team’s progress, not an excuse for their laziness.
