Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 621 - 614: Unscientific Consecutive Slash
Chapter 621: Chapter 614: Unscientific Consecutive Slash
While everyone was still stunned, the girl gently leapt, instantly appearing in front of the exotic beast’s corpse. Luo’er only felt a blur before his eyes, as if she had teleported there, giving him no chance to react.
The girl coldly looked at the exotic beast’s corpse on the ground, then surveyed her surroundings. The unrestrained roars of the exotic beasts echoed through the forest, indicating that these creatures had been lurking on the fringes for a long time, confirming the girl’s decision to stop the Advance Team from entering the forest was correct.
"You retreat to the village and leave this situation to me..." The girl turned her head to glance at Luo’er, then spoke in a calm tone.
"But, you..." Seeing the exotic beast’s corpse beneath her feet, Luo’er instinctively wanted to warn her. This place was the epicenter of the epidemic, the entire Advance Team was heavily protected for fear of infection. With her current attire, Luo’er was worried she could get infected.
"Worry about nothing, fear nothing, leave this to me, retreat!" The girl closed her eyes slightly and uttered without looking back.
Caught in indecision, Luo’er looked towards Cheng Ziang for guidance. Cheng Ziang decisively made a gesture indicating a retreat.
"Luo’er, we should fall back. She can handle it," Fulajie’er also advised, pausing before she continued, "I get the feeling, these monsters are no match for her."
"Alright," Luo’er gave a nod, then motioned with his hand, "Everyone, retreat in order. Fall back to the village and be prepared to provide her with backup at any time!"
With this, Luo’er began directing the Advance Team’s retreat. Perhaps because of the girl’s overwhelming aura, nearly all the exotic beasts converged around her, barely noticing the retreating Advance Team.
The Advance Team retreated approximately twenty meters away and then started their vigilance according to the nearby buildings and ground formations. Baiyue, who was skilled in shooting, was tasked to provide fire support for the girl at any time, giving her some advantage in the skirmish.
After the Advance Team’s retreat, the exotic beasts quickly surrounded the girl. Using her as the hub, they paced back and forth within a five-meter radius, intermittently growling lowly.
Clearly, Luo’er’s estimation of the exotic beasts was somewhat erroneous. They knew how to suppress their noise. Despite making some sounds now and then, their noises were easily drowned out by the backdrop of the battlefield in an intense fight.
The girl stood untroubled, devoid of much expression. She pivoted on the spot, scanning each of the exotic beasts surrounding her. The beasts numbered around a dozen, but for reasons unknown, none dared to rashly attack her, instead they continued pacing back and forth.
After a few rotations, the girl drew a deep breath, checked her longsword in hand, and closed her eyes slightly. Following that, she raised her longsword above her head in a striking pose, but held that position.
Whether it was because they saw her close her eyes or not, the exotic beasts started to grow restless. One of them, unable to hold its impulse, roared and pounced towards the girl. With one leading the charge, the beasts were instantly riled up. They leapt one after another, aiming to pounce on the girl.
"Get ready to fire!" Seeing the impending beasts about to knock the girl over, Luo’er felt his heart shoot up to his throat and raised his hand hastily to order the firing. However, what happened next completely upended his world view.
In the face of imminent threat, the girl remained calm and composed. As the first beast was about to leap onto her, she suddenly opened her eyes, a chill sparkled in her eye corner. Immediately after, she swung down her raised longsword, tracing an arc through the air.
In that instant, a scene that stunned everyone unfolded. The exotic beasts that were about to pounce on her suddenly burst into showers of blood mid-air, as if sliced by an invisible blade, instantly tearing their bodies apart.
Brown-sticky blood splattered in the air as the roars of the exotic beasts turned into agonized shrills. They didn’t even reach the girl before tumbling down midway. Their bodies were ripped open with large gashes, some even torn into halves.
The unseen sword energy emanating from the girl blasted in all directions; not only did it instantly rip apart the approaching exotic beasts, but also affected the nearby flora, dropping them to the ground without warning. Even the thinner nearby trees were cleaved in half, and they wailed as they slowly fell.
Witnessing this, all the members of the Advance Team were petrified. Their eyes widened in shock, and had they not worn gas masks, their jaws would have hit the ground.
Luo’er took a deep breath, it took him a long time to react, his mind was blank. For him, a follower of Materialism, such a magical move happening in such a scientific world was absurd and incomprehensible.
He vividly saw that the girl only swung her sword once, yet she instantly killed all the attacking exotic beasts; how did she do that. Could it be that she didn’t just swing one sword, but swung one at each of the attacking exotic beasts in an instant?
Trying to find a scientific explanation led to nothing but unscientific explanations. How did she do it? Did her body surpass human limits, killing all the beasts in a matter of milliseconds, her speed so fast that they only saw her swing once?
Or did she have the ability to stop time and used this to kill each attacking exotic beast?
No matter what the reason, none could explain what was happening. Luo’er firmly believed in what he saw: the girl only swung her sword once, there were no additional actions, nor afterimages left by extreme speed killing.
"Luo’er, I feel fluctuations in magic..." as if to answer Luo’er’s question, Tangmo turned his head, muttered blankly.
"Magic!" Luo’er’s eyes brightened instantly, that’s right, this world is not scientific, there’s an unstable substance called magic. Maybe, the girl’s move was actually magic and the sword was just the medium for her to cast the spell.
After killing all the attacking beasts, there was still no expression on the girl’s face. She looked around indifferently, then sheathed her sword and walked towards the Advance Team. Luo’er noticed that due to the recent battle, her body was stained with a lot of exotic beast blood.
"Wait, don’t move," Luo’er shouted while stretching his arm, then turned his head and anxiously said to his teammates, "Find, find, find disinfectants and antibiotics!"
"There’s no need for that, I won’t become a corpse demon, this disease doesn’t affect me!" The girl said indifferently, completely ignoring Luo’er’s warning, walked past him and straight to a well.
She fetched a bucket of water from the well and started cleaning the sticky blood on her body. She seemed to despise this sticky substance, so she washed very meticulously.
"Who are you?" Upon witnessing her actions, Luo’er took a step forward and asked carefully.
"I’ve already told you, I’m not your enemy. Can you believe me now?" The girl asked without lifting her head.
Hearing her words, Luo’er and the others glanced at each other, then nodded carefully, "Alright, I believe you don’t mean us harm."
"Good, then follow me later." The girl said.
"Where are you taking us?" Luo’er asked, frowning.
"To meet the master!" The girl answered.
"Who is the master?" Luo’er asked.
"You will know when you get there, I don’t want to answer too many of your questions." The girl said indifferently.
During their conversation, Luo’er noticed a detail. Despite having a different appearance from the locals, the girl’s Tasta language had a distinctive Northern Aud accent. This was an accent from north of Odelanqi, considered the standard Tasta language.
If the girl was speaking in a Northern Aud accent, it suggested that she had been living in this area for quite a long time; otherwise, it would have been impossible for her to have such an authentic Northern Aud accent.
