Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 620 - 613: Astonishing Figure
Chapter 620: Chapter 613: Astonishing Figure
Everyone suddenly turned around, and to their surprise, a person had appeared no more than ten meters behind them. Upon hearing the voice, not just Luo’er, but everyone else was startled.
Luo’er had ordered Fulajie’er to constantly patrol around the Advance Team, to immediately notify him of any movements in the vicinity. Oddly, the girl had managed to approach within ten meters of them without triggering any warning from Fulajie’er.
"Lo-Lo-Luo’er...she...the aura I sensed, it came from her..." Fulajie’er stuttered, her voice trembling, when she spotted the figure.
It wasn’t just her; Luo’er too felt a strong aura emanating from the girl. She stood there in silence, creating an atmosphere that was almost suffocating. Luo’er and the others felt as if they had intruded in her territory. It put them at unease, and their hearts beat frantically.
"The one who dances with Ghost, you must be the one the master has prophesied about." The girl stood there, her voice chilling, a voice unique to a girl.
"Who are you?" Luo’er asked cautiously after taking a deep breath.
Only then did he get a chance to observe the visitor. She seemed like a young girl, slender, and not too tall, roughly the same height as Tangmo.
She wore simple, roughly-made clothes – common attire in the Otherworld and didn’t offer any discernible characteristics. Over her clothes, she wore a cloak with a hood that fell to her waist, its large hood concealing half her face, but what showed was astoundingly beautiful.
What caught Luo’er’s attention the most was the worn-out long sword hanging by her side. The sword, unmistakably of Otherworld style, was double-edged and about a meter long. The sheath was wrapped in cowhide, and the hilt’s leather was polished by regular use, indicating she frequently used the sword.
Clearly, she was a swordsman, her left hand holding the sword hilt, and her right hand hung loosely by her side. If she wished, she could draw her sword and strike within a second.
"The master asked me to wait for you here. You should not go any farther. There are many dangerous creatures ahead. Besides me, no one has ever survived inside." The girl coldly responded to Luo’er’s question.
Since there was a fair distance kept between the Advance Team and the girl, they didn’t immediately point their weapons at her; instead, they carefully observed her. The girl gave off an unpleasant vibe, but she only had one sword at her disposal. The five members of the Advance Team could easily overpower her if conflict arose.
"Who is this master?" Luo’er furrowed his eyebrows and asked.
"The master asked you all to follow me and meet him..." The girl replied, slowly approaching the team, and took off her hood.
Her features left one at a loss for words. Not that she was unattractive; quite the contrary, she was stunningly beautiful. However, her race was ambiguous to Luo’er and the others. She didn’t resemble the Aud people, Bobulu people, or even the Blaiqi people. Initially, Luo’er thought she might be from the southern Ancient States, but on closer inspection, that didn’t seem to be the case.
Her eyes were cold, her irises a deep brown, a rare trait in the Otherworld. Her features were delicate and compact, unlike the bold features of the Aud people, reminding one of a doll. Her shoulder-length hair was so dark it was almost black, flowing smoothly like a black waterfall.
Luo’er stared blankly at her; although her features were ambiguous, they felt oddly familiar. After pondering for a moment, he came to a realization and turned to look at Tangmo.
She did indeed share some of the same features as Tangmo, who possessed mostly East Asian traits from Earth. Could it be that the girl before them was mixed with the East Asian Race?
Seeing the girl getting closer, Luo’er sprang into action, raising his pistol with one hand while the other shot out in warning, "Stay where you are, or we will use force!"
"Don’t worry, I am not your enemy," The girl gave a slightly disdainful glance at the weapon in his hand and replied lightly, "Moreover, your weapons can’t hurt me."
Her eyes were the typically almond-shaped, and although she had double eyelids, she always gave a haughty, disdainful vibe. Coupled with the icy expression she had barely changed since before, it inevitably imposed a pressing sense of oppression on people.
This was the first time Luo’er had this kind of feeling since he entered the Otherworld. Standing in front of her, Luo’er felt as if he didn’t even have the courage to resist her, let alone shoot. Hence he could understand why Fulajie’er didn’t immediately sound the alarm when she appeared.
"This chick is really arrogant, just like Old Cheng." Hu Daoke couldn’t help but mutter, resulting in Cheng Ziang rolling his eyes.
The girl stopped about three meters from the crowd, then slightly closed her eyes. Seeing her unusual behavior, the Advance Team members didn’t aim their guns at her as one might expect but instead, stood frozen.
"How are we to believe you?" Luo’er asked on guard.
"Fall back!" The girl abruptly made a nonsequential retort.
"What?" Hearing her words, Luo’er was instantly stunned.
"I said, fall back, maintain your positions, and fall back..." The girl coldly uttered, maybe because of her tone, her words sounded laden with grave threats.
"Why?" Luo’er paused for a moment, all five were taken aback, they had no idea what was happening, but their bodies involuntarily took a step back.
"Do it now!"
Suddenly, the girl flung her eyes open, then quickly bent down, the bottom of her sheathed sword resting on the ground as she made a move similar to that of doing splits. Following that, her right hand grasped the hilt of the sword tightly and she unsheathed the sword and swung upwards.
A visible surge of energy emitted from her action, slicing through the ground, headed straight towards the members of the Advance Team. Fortunately, they had all taken a step back in time and could see the sword energy whizzing past them.
At the moment the sword energy passed, everyone heard a buzzing sound, and the insightful Tangmo even felt the magic in the air surging.
The girl’s actions were fluid, from swinging the sword to shooting out the sword energy, all within one second, it can be described as a flash. Then, all the members of the Advance Team heard the sound of something ripping from the side. It seemed like something juicy had been split open.
It wasn’t until a few drops of black liquid splashed onto Luo’er’s gas mask, that he suddenly realized what had transpired. He reached out and wiped it, realizing that the liquid on the mask was a deep brown, extremely slippery.
He stared at the place where the noise emanated, only to realize, there now laid an Exotic Beast. However, he didn’t need to worry, because the Exotic Beast had already been sliced into two from the head down, with only the skin at the base intact. The deep-brown blood inside its body splashed out, sprinkling onto the members of the Advance Team, luckily, they all wore chemical protective clothing.
"This..." If it wasn’t for the gas mask, Luo’er’s jaw would have dropped in shock.
He could barely describe such a technique with words. The girl unsheathed her sword and swung it, generating a powerful sword energy, and in an instant killed an Exotic Beast that was trying to ambush the Advance Team, almost cutting it in half with a single stroke.
What kind of combat power was this, Luo’er dared not imagine. He now understood the girl’s contempt. Indeed, with her speed and ability, the weapons held by the Advance Team members had no advantage. If she had any hostility, she could have sliced everyone present into two with a single stroke.
