Otherworld Advance Team

Chapter 570: Chapter 563: Luo’er’s New Outfit_1

When Luo’er left the office, his eyes were still rimmed red, but no one dared to ask him what had happened, because they all knew why. Toward Luo Qishan, he never failed to show a mixture of reprimand and care, being harsh in words but earnestly concerned about his health.

Ever since he had shared with the team about his parents’ experiences in their youth, he seemed to have had an epiphany. Consequently, his bitterness towards Luo Qishan also faded significantly.

Cheng Ziang was probably the only one who understood the complexities of the relationship between Luo’er and Luo Qishan. They were like a pair of squabblers—the love was there, but Luo’er never expressed it verbally. Luo Qishan, too, cared about Luo’er, but opted for the wrong way to show it, leading to a rapid deterioration in their relationship.

On reflection, it became clear that their biggest failing was in communication. Through open dialogue, they could dissolve their conflicts. The majority of tragedies in this world stem from an information imbalance and lack of a means for effective communication.

It was evident that the urgency of Headquarters in summoning back the Advance Team was not solely for Zhuyan Yu’s safety. The impending arrival of Princess Nina was the main reason. Lin Wei decided to exploit Luo’er’s and Nina’s mother-son relationship in hopes of furthering the rapport between the headquarters and Ilanadale.

Earlier on, the Kedal metal sent to Earth had been confirmed by the research center to be a potential substitute for tungsten alloy with extraordinary penetrating power, far exceeding even the notoriously effective depleted uranium penetrating bullet.

The metal not only had significant uses in the military field, but the scientists had discovered its importance in other areas as well. Therefore, after some deliberations, the Ministry of Defense classified this metal as a strategic import raw material and planned to sign a long-term procurement deal with Ilanadale, assisting the elves to exploit the Kedal metal in the Namijiya Mountain Range.

At this point in time, the decision by Ilanadale to dispatch the princess for a visit to the base was nothing short of a godsend for Headquarters. They prioritized this meeting immensely, not only by recalling Luo’er but also by sending Lin Wei, the head of Headquarters, through the Otherworld Gate to meet with Nina in the Otherworld.

As the uncontested chief of Headquarters, Lin Wei controlled virtually every affair of the agency. Officials at his level usually delegated their tasks and appointments to spokespersons. The last time he came to the Otherworld was for Lipei’s second Gate, during which he had given Luo’er a good telling-off.

It took the personnel at the base more than a week to temporarily repurpose an area of the manor estate into a landing strip for the transport planes. As there were no berths for airboats, these vehicles always remained in mid-air hover mode.

The dwarf aircrew on board the airboat paid little heed to the energy consumption, knowing the cost was always picked up by the Headquarters staff. If Headquarters was willing to foot the bill, the airboat could hover above the base for years without concern.

Due to the rushed preparation, the younger girls who Luo’er had brought back from the Otherworld pitched in, helping out around the base as maidservants. It was Wang Xu’s initial intention to have them enrolled as the first batch of students in the Mingming Plan, but given that the plan now required some adjustments, they had no choice but to toil away at the base for the time being.

And for Luo’er, things were different due to his unique circumstances. Li Si had prepared a suit for him which, when worn, fit him perfectly. The suit had been custom-made by machines according to his body measurements, hence it was a perfect fit without an inch of leeway.

Upon wearing the suit, Luo’er emerged somewhat uneasily. His unruly hair had been neatly styled, adding a refined touch to his appearance and removing the subtle feminine aura he previously maintained. Everyone was caught off guard in seeing him don a suit instead of his customary adventurer’s attire.

"Luo’er, ahahaha!" Tangmo shouted with delight and lunged at him. Luo’er barely managed to catch her, preventing her from sliding off him.

"Don’t get so fired up! Calm down!" Luo’er responded, his face reddening slightly in embarrassment.

Cheng Ziang reached out, grabbed her by the back of her neck, and pulled her away. He rolled his eyes and said, "Keep yourself in check. Luo’er has only one set of clothes—if you get your drool over it, he won’t have a replacement."

"I didn’t drool!" Tangmo retorted, instinctively wiping her lips.

Taking advantage of the moment Tangmo was dragged away, Baiyue stepped in silently. She reached over and adjusted his tie with a matronly air.

Seeing Luo’er basking in popularity, Hu Daoke quickly pulled Li Si aside and said, "Brother Li, let’s discuss this—you haven’t got one of these suits. Let’s get a couple for you!"

"This suit was tailored to fit, so there weren’t any extras. Even if there were, they wouldn’t fit you," Li Si replied.

"Then why does the boss get to change?" Hu Daoke complained.

"Well, Luo’er is key to this meeting, so of course she should be treated differently," Li Si said, as if it were obvious.

"I don’t care. We’re members of the Advance Team after all. If you’re going to play favorites, believe me, I’ll go tell the boss," Hu Daoke threatened playfully.

The reason Hu Daoke said he would complain to Luo’er, rather than Wang Xu was because he knew complaining to Wang Xu would achieve nothing. But Luo’er was different, Hu Daoke knew that if he made a request, Luo’er would absolutely fulfill it.

"You win, come and see if there’s anything you like!" Li Si conceded, shaking his head in resignation, then beckoning them over.

"That’s more like it! The boss shouldn’t be the only one looking good," Hu Daoke said excitedly, slapping Li Si on the shoulder before he pulled Cheng Ziang over and said enthusiastically, "Come on, Old Cheng, let’s go pick out something new to wear!"

"You really have nothing better to do..." Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes, but didn’t refuse. In fact, he wanted a new outfit too, but was too embarrassed to say so. He’d been listening intently when Hu Daoke and Li Si were discussing earlier.

The two of them left in high spirits with Li Si, leaving Luo’er surrounded by three girls fawning over him. When he’d returned earlier, Luo’er had handed Fulajie’er’s container to Nightingale, so now she was accompanying her sister.

Currently, Zhuyan Yu was conversing with Wang Xu in his office. Having just seen Luo’er’s new outfit, she broke into a smile, then shook her head and said, "And here I thought you were urgently calling back the Advance Team for my sake. Turns out it was all for Luo’er."

"Of course, it was for you too. I was worried... um..." Wang Xu responded awkwardly.

Sharing an office with Zhuyan Yu, Wang Xu didn’t project his usual indifference. Instead of sitting at his desk, he stood nervously behind her.

"For me?" Zhuyan Yu gazed at her own hand, a touch of melancholy on her face. "I’m now a citizen of Otherworld. I might never be able to go back to Earth."

"Well, that’s...not necessarily a bad thing. At least you can stay in our base here..." Wang Xu scratched his head and said hesitantly.

At his words, Zhuyan Yu turned to give him a looking, shook her head and said, "You’re absolutely terrible at comforting others. Any girl who ends up with you is going to be driven insane."

"Then how should I put it?" Wang Xu asked anxiously.

"If I have to teach you how to say it, it’s better if you don’t say anything at all." Zhuyan Yu rolled her eyes at him, speaking with a sense of resignation.

"Uh, what do you mean?" Wang Xu didn’t quite get what she meant.

"Never mind. You’re hopeless at comforting others. I’m going back to my room." Zhuyan Yu said as she started walking towards the door.

"Wait, hold on. Stay a little longer. I have so much more I want to say to you." Wang Xu stuttered.

"If it’s about work, forget it. I understand all that, I’m a major after all." Zhuyan Yu waved dismissively without turning back.

"No, it’s a personal matter!" Wang Xu called after her desperately.

"A personal matter," she echoed his words, turning back to look at him with an amused smile. "A personal matter you say. What could that be?"
