Chapter 452 - 445: The Death of Luo’er
Chapter 452: Chapter 445: The Death of Luo’er
This was probably the second time Luo’er experienced the feeling of death. The sharp arrow pierced his heart, causing it to convulse intensely, to the point that he couldn’t breathe.
In his confusion, he seemed to hear a choir singing in his ears. The music was melodious, and the children’s voices were neat, although he couldn’t understand a single word.
He forced his eyes open to look at the girl trying to kill him. She stood in place, looking at a loss — seemingly unaccustomed to killing. Looking at her, Luo’er had not a shred of regret in his heart. He always felt that if he had to choose again, he still wouldn’t dare to shoot at her.
What kind of spirit was this? Sacrifice? No, it was simply the feeling that she was someone who couldn’t be harmed.
Luoya stood stock-still in place. This was the second person she had killed today. But for some reason, she felt an intense pain, as if that arrow hadn’t pierced Luo’er but herself.
She held the recurve bow, and her hands started to tremble involuntarily. Luo’er was different from those in the Judgement Legion, Luoya still remembered that he had helped her.
Seeing Luo’er struggling painfully on the ground, a strong urge surged from the bottom of her heart to save him! But no matter how much she yearned, she felt immobilized as if this body was no longer hers; no matter how hard she tried to control it, she couldn’t move a single step.
Luo’er lay on his back on the ground, his legs struggling ceaselessly, digging two holes in the earth. Gradually, his struggles weakened. Although he opened his mouth, he couldn’t breathe; every breath, every twitch of his heart caused the arrow lodged in it to scrape against his fragile organ.
Seeing Luo’er growing weaker, Luoya felt her head spin. Although she couldn’t move, she could still speak. Just as she was preparing to call Luo’er’s name, a familiar yet despairing roar came from the bushes beside her.
"Luo’er!!!!!"
A familiar figure lunged at Luo’er, Luoya looked closely and saw it was her mother, Nina. Seeing her mother before her, Luoya instinctively called out to her. But it was as if her mother hadn’t heard her, tumbling and crawling towards the fallen Luo’er.
"Luo’er, you’re Luo’er, you’re Luo’er! Luo’er, Mom has found you!!!" Nina disregarded everything, picked Luo’er up and cried out in despair.
By this time, Luo’er’s clothes had been soaked through with blood. When Nina lifted him, her hands instantly became smeared with the sticky blood on his back.
Hearing her cry, Luo’er abruptly opened his eyes, seeing the face he had yearned for day and night. Looking at Nina’s face close at hand, Luo’er’s pale lips quivered excitedly, but could only make meaningless groans.
He reached out a trembling hand to grasp Nina’s clothes, his mouth moving non-stop but unable to say a word. His tears streamed down ceaselessly, instantly blurring his vision.
Luo’er clung tightly to Nina’s clothes, almost as if he wanted to tear them off. Using the last of his strength, he finally managed to croak out the address lodged deep in his heart, one he’d never forget: "Mom... mom... mom...."
"Mom’s here, mom’s here," Nina sobbed, her tears fell onto Luo’er’s face.
Luo’er’s address for Nina was not in Tasta language but in Chinese. This was the first word Luo Chuan taught him, and the only name Luo’er used for Nina.
Luoya stood blankly in place, watching her own mother cradling that stranger. She didn’t dare to clarify that the man was her mother’s long-yearned-for son, her own biological brother.
The thought of having killed her own elder brother with the bow and arrow in her hands caused Luoya’s limbs to tremble uncontrollably. At this point, she was incapable of even holding up the recurve bow, let alone shooting an arrow.
At this moment, two figures darted out from the jungle once again, charging towards Luo’er while letting out hysterical roars. These two figures were none other than Tangmo and Baiyue. When they saw that Luo’er was on the brink of death, they disregarded every bit of caution protocol and crawled their way to Luo’er’s side, their tears falling without respite.
"Don’t move!" Suddenly, Luoya heard a man’s voice from behind her. A stalwart-looking man emerged from the undergrowth, carrying a light machine gun, the barrel of which was aimed straight at her.
Luoya froze in place, incapable of even turning around. A man walked past her, casting a cold gaze in her direction.
He had the face of an Aud, and his hair was a light color, a characteristic of the Northern Auds. He was tall yet well-proportioned, not muscular or burly. Luoya noticed he held in his hands a strangely shaped long knife, its blade adorned with intricate patterns.
Upon seeing Luoya, Cheng Ziang immediately concluded that she must be the "daughter" Nina had talked about, and Luo’er’s own younger sister, Luoya.
Seeing her motionless, Cheng Ziang took a step back and used his long knife to flip her hood back, revealing the light-colored hair typical of an elf. Cheng Ziang couldn’t miss the black leather eyepatch over her left eye and the revealed right eye with a dark iris.
With a swift movement of his blade, he cut through the string of her eyepatch without hurting her face, revealing her elven green iris hidden beneath.
After he saw her full face, Cheng Ziang nodded at Hu Daoke. Although Hu Daoke was reluctant, he reluctantly lowered his gun but remained on the spot, keeping watch over her.
"You jerk, I’m going...I’m going to kill you!" Crying in despair, Tangmo, with strength found where none ought to be, picked up the magic wand lying on the ground and began to utter curses at Luoya.
"Don’t be foolish!" Cheng Ziang strode forward and caught hold of her magic wand.
"What are you doing? She killed Luo’er! I need to kill her for revenge!" Tangmo glared at Cheng Ziang, shouting at him hoarsely.
"She’s Luo’er’s sister. If you kill her, how could you face Luo’er." Cheng Ziang stated calmly. In such a situation, he was the only one who could remain composed. If even he couldn’t, then the entire team would turn into a mess.
Hearing his words, Tangmo stared at him with reddened eyes. Suddenly, she stammered and sank onto the ground, letting out heart-wrenching sobs. Cheng Ziang shook his head. Even though Luoya was Luo’er’s sister, when Tangmo was about to kill Luoya, Nina didn’t react at all. He guessed that even Nina had given up on this daughter of hers.
"Now you, after killing your elder brother, do you plan to kill all of us?’’ Having dissuaded Tangmo, Cheng Ziang turned to ask Luoya.
Luoya’s face turned pale. Avoiding direct contact with Cheng Ziang’s eyes, she instinctively looked away when their gazes crossed.
Seeing her state, Cheng Ziang signaled Hu Daoke behind her. Hu Daoke understood and carefully approached to snatch the recurve bow from Luoya’s hand and threw it far away.
"Luo, Luo’er’s wounds, should, should..." Baiyue, kneeling next to Luo’er, fumbled through her backpack for a medical pack while uttering meaningless words in a robotic tone.
