Chapter 451: Chapter 444: Fratricide
While the two were conversing, the two girls had already changed into their regular clothes and marched out with their weapons. One had to respect their speed when expressing concern over Luo’er’s family matters.
"Listen up, our target is a half-elf girl, who looks a lot like Aunt Nina. However, there is one distinction; her right eye is puplish and the left eye is dark green. If you find her, bring her back," Ziang instructed the crowd.
"Left eye green, right eye dark," Tangmo and Baiyue shared a glance, and then looked at Ziang to ask, "Heterochromia?"
"Yes, that feature should be conspicuous." Ziang nodded in agreement.
"Once we’re prepared, let’s set off. Auntie, all you need to do is wait for our return at home!" Ziang told Nina.
"No way, I must accompany you, or I will not be at peace!" Nina declared resolutely.
"Ah..." Ziang looked at the others for answers.
"Just let Auntie come along," proposed Tangmo, "After all, it’s her daughter. How could she possibly not be worried?"
"Alright then, but Auntie do you own any weapons?" Ziang asked.
Before she could utter a single word, Tangmo interjected: "Auntie, you have magic, right? Here, please take one of my magic wands!"
With that, she detached an additional magic wand from herself and handed it to Nina.
Nina didn’t reject the offer but accepted it with grace, swinging it around once before commenting with a frown: "Magic? For us, the Elf Race, it’s called Arcane!"
Observing her reaction, something came to Ziang and he remarked, "Ah, Auntie, let me clarify. If we find Luo’er, please refrain from using magic in his presence!"
"Why, what happened to Luo’er?" Nina gazed at him apprehensively as she inquired.
"We can elaborate on the specifics later. For now, just make sure you remember it." With that, he drew a dagger from his waist, casually tossing it into the air. The dagger without any deviation, stood erect on the table, continuously swaying.
"Ona, take care of your sister. If anyone tries to harm you, stab them with this knife!" Ziang gave a piece of advice, then waved to everyone and left the room.
Once again they arrived at the mesmerizing village exterior, where the group could not afford to admire the beauty of the village, and rather hurriedly walked towards the village entrance. On the road, Tangmo pondered for a moment, deciding to give her 74U short assault rifle to Nina, as she felt Nina should be a better shot than her. However, her suggestion was rejected by Nina.
Exiting the village entrance, the group promptly headed North. The combat between Theron and the Judgment Legion would not cease any time soon, unless Theron managed to achieve an absolute advantage; otherwise, they would be in a deadlock. The plan was to take advantage of this deadlock and reach the battlefield to find Luo’er and his sister, Luoya.
Meanwhile, Luo’er, alongside Luoya, who he was still unfamiliar with as being his sister, continued their journey on a narrow path in the direction of the village.
The entirety of the journey saw Luo’er keeping to himself, focusing solely on making pace. Several attempts to converse with him by Luoya were unsuccesseded.
"Hey, I say, why don’t you take a break!" After walking for almost half the day, Luoya, supported by a tree trunk and panting heavily, suggested.
"You can’t take it despite only an hour of walking. And you plan to join Theron?" Luo’er looked back at her disappointedly.
"Who says you can’t be tired if you join Theron!" Luoya retorted, looking disgruntled.
"Nobody articulated that but, in my opinion, it’s a basic requirement." Luo’er shrugged dismissively.
After giving Luo’er an upset glance, Luoya turned her head back around, staring at the distance and said, "We seem to be moving further away. Weren’t you supposed to intercept the Judgment knights on the periphery?"
"I’ve already completed that task. Didn’t you see how I slaughtered their Bishop?" Luo’er pointed out.
"But..."
"... but you took the merit. Now that you have received the merit, quit whining!" Luo’er said.
"As if I stole your credit. Here, take it back, I don’t want this merit!" Luoya, displaying her stubbornness, took out the pendant from her bosom, and with a streak of anger, tossed it at Luo’er’s feet.
Luo’er bent over to claim the pendant, fondled it a bit, then asked, "Hey, are you sure you don’t want it?"
"I don’t, I am not interested. I will earn my own!" Luoya, in staunch denial, seemed to have been upset.
"Alright then!" Not wanting to entertain her, Luo’er straight away pocketed the pendant. Seeing his gesture, the erstwhile petulant Luoya was left dumbstruck, completely exasperated with Luo’er.
"You get upset even when I say a couple of things. You really aren’t suitable to socialize with others." Luo’er cautioned her.
"I just don’t get along with you, that’s all. Don’t maliciously speculate others, do you have any idea about the trials others have been through!" Luoya returned short-temperedly.
"I obviously don’t. What I do know is that everyone has their own difficulties. If one wants to fit in the society, they must tone down their prickliness." Luo’er suggested.
"I don’t need your counsel!" retorted Luoya.
"I wouldn’t bother anyway. Let’s part ways here. Rest all you want!" Luo’er responded as he turned around to make his departure.
"Wait up!" All of a sudden, he was halted by a loud call from Luoya.
"What is it?" Luo’er asked, turning back around.
"Give me the pendant!" Luoya stretched out her hand and demanded.
"Why? You’ve already given it up." Luo’er shrugged.
"I must join Theron!" Luoya said resolutely.
Luo’er didn’t respond verbally. He appraised her silently for a moment before responding. "No!"
"Wait a minute!" Seeing Luo’er was about to leave, an anxious Luoya drew her bow, aiming an arrow at him.
"What now, planning to kill me and silence me?" Luo’er asked, appearing nonchalant.
"Give me the pendant!" Luoya maintained an aggressive stance with her bow, but her tone was much softer than before.
"Are you coercing or begging me?" Luo’er took a step back, his left hand resting casually on the handle of the pistol at his waist.
"I don’t want to hurt you!" Luoya’s lips thinned.
"But you’re pointing a bow at me!" Luo’er spat out coldly.
"Give me the pendant, and I’ll lower the bow." Luoya proposed.
"In the end, you’re still coercing me." Luo’er shook his head.
"Nuo’er, don’t push your luck!" Luoya said through gritted teeth.
"Wait..." Upon hearing her, Luo’er froze. He couldn’t help but ask, "How do you know that phrase?"
The phrase Luoya had just used was in Chinese. In Otherworld, it is common to mix languages, similar to how English is occasionally inserted in Chinese sentences on Earth. The same occurs in Otherworld, though most people tend to insert English, and rarely Chinese.
"Never mind that, just give me the pendant. I... I can’t hold on much longer..." Luoya’s hand on the bow shivered slightly.
"Just let go if you can’t hold it, why are you persisting." Luo’er instinctively took a step back.
"No, I must become a Theron!" Luoya insisted, gritting her teeth.
Seeing her determination, Luo’er hesitated for a while before he finally decided to toss the pendant at her feet. Luoya let out a sigh of relief and stowed away her bow and arrow; she picked up the pendant from the ground.
"Fine, now we’re even, let’s part our ways!" Luo’er turned to leave once more.
"Wait," Luoya stopped him abruptly. She pocketed the pendant and again prepared her bow, eyeing him warily, "Why do you know Chinese?"
"Because I come from the North." Luo’er answered nonchalantly.
"What’s your relationship with the Judgement Legion?" Luoya interrogated, her eyes fixated on him.
"Clearly, we’re enemies." Although he sensed something amiss, Luo’er did not blink an eye while lying.
"That’s not right, you knew the Bishop, or else he wouldn’t have followed you." Luoya stared at him intensely.
Luo’er felt a chill in his heart and thought he must have exposed himself when he led the way for Kroel. After a long pause, he said, "It’s not what you think, Kroel he... "
"You know the Bishop’s name!" Luoya immediately saw through his lie.
"Damn!" Luo’er cursed under his breath, he hadn’t expected to slip.
Without asking further, Luoya swiftly fired an arrow. Luo’er instinctively swerved, and the arrow flew past him, embedding in a tree trunk.
"Are you insane? Trying to silence me by killing me?" Luo’er broke out in cold sweat, quickly ducking for cover.
"I’m not insane, you’re collaborating with the Judgement Legion." Luoya said coldly, loading and firing another arrow, which Luo’er again dodged.
"What does it have to do with you? You are not a Theron!" Luo’er narrowly dodged another arrow, breaking out in cold sweat.
"If I kill you, I can become a Theron!" Luoya looked at him, her expression devoid of mercy.
At this point, Luo’er was also filled with a murderous intent towards her. He found it strange that he’d allowed this girl to attack him continuously. He would have shot anyone else by now.
His hand rested on the handle of his pistol. As Luoya fired another arrow, he drew his pistol and aimed it directly at her. He was confident that a few bullets would be enough to take her down, even kill her.
But when it came to pulling the trigger, he softened again. He couldn’t bear to kill the girl in front of him, he couldn’t pull the trigger.
The moment he hesitated, Luoya’s arrow buried into his chest. Contrary to what he’d imagined, his bulletproof plate failed to stop the arrow. The bulletproof plate, which could withstand rifle bullets, was as fragile as plaster in front of the arrow. By the time Luo’er felt the excruciating pain in his chest, the arrow had already pierced his heart.
Luo’er fell back with a thud, his mouth opened in silent screams. Exactly in his violently beating heart, each beat brought excruciating pain; so much so that he wanted to roll around in agony, but he didn’t have the strength to do so.
