Chapter 450: Chapter 443: Heterochromia
"Judging by the situation, it was probably two days ago. I couldn’t stop her." When it came to her daughter, Nina couldn’t help but sigh.
"Did she go north?" Cheng Ziang asked.
"How did you know?" Nina asked, her eyes widened in surprise.
"Damn, she may have gone to participate in the siege against Judgement Legion!" Cheng Ziang blurted, his face grim.
"What? Judgement Legion?" Hearing this name, Nina’s eyes grew even wider.
"Yes, the Heresy Tribunal Army of the Church of Light, they are waging a war. They’re already tens of kilometers away from the village," Cheng Ziang stated.
"How did you know all this?" Nina queried, staring at him.
"To be honest," Cheng Ziang hesitated but ultimately chose sincerity, "due to certain circumstances, the Church Court is now our ally. We have followed them all the way from the north to here."
"Cooperation... wait, is Luo’er also an ally of the Church Court?" Nina asked, her brows furrowed.
"Yes!" Cheng Ziang nodded.
"Impossible," Nina stated firmly, "Luo’er is a Half-elf, it’s surprising enough that he’s not discriminated against. How could he cooperate with the Church Court, those arrogant people?"
"This situation is not easy to explain in a short time..." After a moment of thought, Cheng Ziang explained, "We belong to an organization on Earth. Luo’er’s grandfather is one of the founders. You may not be aware of the situation in the north since you live in the south. In short, it’s complex, but currently, our organization is cooperating with the Church Court."
"So, there’s a war going on up north?" Nina pointed towards the north and asked.
"Yes, we just escaped from there. Luo’er will probably come over soon as well. However, to be honest, I don’t think Theron has much advantage over the Judgement Legion, so casualties are inevitable," Cheng Ziang declared.
"I have to go and bring her back!" said Nina, starting to look for the weapons in her house.
"Wait, she took the weapons!" After a quick search, Nina exclaimed.
"Nina, wait a minute. If you really want to go, give us some time. We will accompany you there," Cheng Ziang proposed, standing at the door to stop her.
"I don’t need your help, this is our family matter!" Nina shook her head.
"Aunt Nina," Cheng Ziang addressed her, "listen to me. Luo’er is our captain, our older brother. His matters concern us too. Don’t rush, it’s too dangerous for you to go alone!"
Truth be told, Cheng Ziang felt awkward addressing Nina as Aunt. She was shorter than him and appeared younger than him. Even though he knew she was nearly two hundred years old, he couldn’t help but see her as much younger.
Frankly, if Nina and Luo’er stood together, it would be better if people mistook them as siblings. It would be more embarrassing if they were considered as a couple.
"What happened?" The argument outside piqued the curiosity of Tangmo, who just finished changing her clothes. She peered out, looking puzzled at the two arguing.
"You two, come here and try to calm Aunt Nina down. Don’t let her act impulsively. Old Hu, put away the things and check the equipment, we need to prepare to leave!" Cheng Ziang commanded loudly.
"Uh...uh...uh...Aunt, please, don’t rush..." Tangmo, dressed in her pretty dress, walked to Nina with hesitation. She held onto Nina’s sleeve, stuttering her words.
If the woman standing in front of her was Luo’er’s mother, one of the most important people to Luo’er, then getting her approval lent stability to her position. The thought of this event made Tangmo feel like she was meeting her parents-in-law, her hands and feet trembling uncontrollably.
"Who are you?" Nina asked, seeing her fear.
"I, I, I am Tang...Tangmo...I, I am Lor...Luo’er’s friend..." As Nina turned to look at her, Tangmo became even more nervous. Her speech became more stuttered, and she even bit her tongue a few times.
"Are you afraid of me?" Nina asked, frowning.
"No, not at all, I, I am Luo’er’s, goo...good friend...haha..." Hearing her words, Tangmo hastily waved her hands, speaking incoherently.
Looking at her nervous appearance, Nina gentled her hand, stroking her small head. Compared to Nina, Tangmo appeared incredibly delicate, much like an exquisite doll.
Tangmo, feeling the warmth of Nina’s palm, was startled and her heart leaped. This familiar feeling made her instantly think of Luo’er. It seems gentleness really did run in the family.
"You are..." Nina stared at her, frowning, "You are from the Dwarf Race!"
Nina, having been well-traveled and knowledgeable, knew the characteristics of the Dwarven race. The girl in front of her seemed relatively old but was small in stature. Apart from disease, the only other possibility was that she was of the Dwarf race.
"Oh, yes, yes, I am, I’m a dwarf, a, a half-dwarf... But, I, I and Luo’er are..." Tangmo stuttered anxiously, assuming that Nina might disdain her short stature and hastily explaining herself.
Nina, recognizing her fretting, softly assured her, "I don’t mean anything by my question. I really like you – you’re like a doll."
"Th-thank you, auntie!" Upon hearing these words, Tangmo was moved to the brink of tears.
"Um, a-...auntie..." Having just settled Tangmo, another girl approached. This was the girl with the white hood whose hair was white.
She seemed to have changed into a lighter dress, and her hood was now removed, revealing her breathtaking silver hair. On her head, two fluffy bunny ears hung loosely in her hair, making her look adorable.
"Are you also one of Luo’er’s friends?" Nina looked her up and down, understanding something, she gave a sigh and asked.
"Yes, yes..." Baiyue didn’t say much, but she didn’t stammer like Tangmo did.
"Sigh..." Looking at the two girls, Nina couldn’t help but sigh. She hadn’t seen Luo’er in so many years, and now he had grown up and even had two beautiful and adorable girls who liked him. She only wondered what he looked like now and whether he resembled his father.
"Um, aun...auntie, can I, I come closer to you?" Tangmo gathered her courage after a long hesitation and finally asked.
"Of course." Nina nodded assuredly.
"Great!" With her permission, Tangmo giggled and quickly walked over to Nina’s side, affectionately wrapping her arm around Nina’s.
"Um, a-... auntie..." Seeing Tangmo had seized the opportunity, Baiyue seemed anxious.
"Come over here..." Nina shook her head and beckoned her over.
Watching the girls’ coy behaviour, Cheng Ziang sighed, originally intending to have the two prepare for battle, but now he was somewhat embarrassed to speak up, seeing their current state.
"By the way, you haven’t yet introduced all of these people to me." Nina turned her head to look at Cheng Ziang as she hugged both girls by her side, subconsciously figuring that he must be the leader of the group.
"My apologies, I was neglectful,"Cheng Ziang gave a slight bow and began to introduce, "My name is Cheng Ziang, the burly man is Hu Daoke. As for these two girls beside you, the redhead is named Tangmo, and the white-haired girl is Baiyue. As you can see, we are all of mixed blood from Earth and Otherworld. Those two girls over there are sisters. The injured one is the elder sister, Olavia, her younger sister is Ona, and they are Shani people."
"And then..." Cheng Ziang looked at these two lovesick girls and couldn’t help but shake his head, "These two girls are friends with Luo’er, although their attitudes towards him are probably clear to you."
"Do all of you have Chinese surnames because you are all Shani people?" Nina asked.
"Yes, mostly, though there are exceptions," Cheng Ziang pointed at Baiyue and said, "That kid is Slavic."
Hearing his words, Nina fell into deep thought. At this moment, Hu Daoke walked up with a light machine gun and said to them: "Well, auntie, and Old Cheng, I’m ready!"
"I know," Cheng Ziang nodded, then said to the two girls, "You two should stop fawning and get prepared. I’m giving you three minutes. Fawning now is useless, rescuing your cousin is the only thing that will earn you points."
Hearing his words, the two girls exchanged a glance, then quickly turned and entered to change their clothes. Seeing their proficient movement, Nina couldn’t help but ask, "Who’s their cousin?"
Although she has been influenced by some of the Huaxia culture, she didn’t fully understand it, so she was a bit confused about their interpersonal relations and titles.
"Don’t worry about it, auntie. You just need to tell us what Luo’ya looks like and wait for us here." Cheng Ziang changed the subject.
"Alright... Luo’ya’s appearance," Nina thought for a moment, raising her head and saying, "Luo’ya looks a lot like me, she hardly inherited her father’s looks."
"So that means," Cheng Ziang stared at her and asked, "She is a light-haired, dark-green-eyed half-elf, right?"
"Yes," Nina nodded, then abruptly seemed to remember something, adding, "But she does inherit some of her father’s features. One of her eyes – her right eye – has her father’s color."
"Right eye, so the left eye is... dark green?" Cheng Ziang asked, frowning.
"Correct!" Nina nodded.
"So she has heterochromia; it will be much easier to find her now." Hearing this information, Cheng Ziang nodded in agreement.
