Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 419 - 412: Heading to Training

Chapter 419: Chapter 412: Heading to Training

In the end, the Murong Squad departed. Before they left, they bid farewell to the other members of the Advance Team, clinging to Hu Daoke as Wu Tairan and Xuzhong Qi wept. The awkwardness they felt upon first meeting was gone.

All the members of the Advance Team, except Luo’er, came to see them off, including Cheng Ziang, who ordinarily didn’t get along with them. The disappointment for Murong was that Luo’er was under confinement and couldn’t say goodbye.

Shangguan Jiu walked out of the villa wiping her tears. Murong knew where she had been. He looked sympathetically at Wu Tairan, who was crying alongside Hu Daoke. It turned his heart to see Shangguan Jiu so heartbroken.

As he recalled, Wu Tairan had always been interested in Shangguan Jiu, often publicly declaring himself as her strongest supporter. However, it seemed he had gone from being her shield to a lapdog, a fact he might not have realized yet.

Based on his current behavior, it seemed he hadn’t caught on. Ever since they arrived here, this oblivious fellow had been hanging out with Hu Daoke and the others every day, completely oblivious to the relationship between Shangguan Jiu and Luo’er.

However, it was their business now, and Murong did not want to meddle in helping Wu Tairan win back Shangguan Jiu. He could see that Shangguan Jiu simply did not like Wu Tairan. Her heart had never changed; she loved Luo’er, who was also of Elf Race descent.

"Let’s go!" Murong said, nudging others to leave as soon as Shangguan Jiu returned to the squad.

Lin Wei was waiting for them in the car, so they couldn’t delay any longer. At Murong’s urging, the group reluctantly climbed into the carriage. Under everyone’s gaze, they left the outpost of the Headquarters.

Watching Lin Wei and the others slowly leave the compound, Wang Xu returned to his office and sighed in relief. "Oh my, I thought we were for it this time, but everything turned out fine. Who would have thought, the Chief really does care about Luo’er!"

"After all, his grandfather is the Principal. The Chief will naturally show him some respect." Li Si handed him a cup of tea.

"It has little to do with his grandfather," Wang Xu said, shaking his head after taking a sip of tea. "Chief Lin was a comrade-in-arms of Luo’er’s father and saved him on the battlefield. So, both emotionally and rationally, he wouldn’t want to give Luo’er a hard time, especially since he has gained a lot from Luo’er. I thought he had forgotten his roots, but it seems he does remember that he owes the Luo’er family."

Li Si was the only person in front of whom Wang Xu dared to speak so freely.

"What about the Space Administration..." Li Si asked hesitantly.

"Don’t worry, all the relevant documents have been prepared. Even if they come in person, they won’t find anything. If they can’t catch it, they can’t catch it. What can we do? It’s not like we are on Earth!" Wang Xu shrugged.

"It’s weird, why is the Space Administration so interested in the Otherworld? It’s not even their territory," Li Si asked, frowning.

"I heard they want to use the Otherworld Gate to realize their space exploration plans," Wang Xu pondered.

"Otherworld Gate? Space exploration?" Li Si asked in surprise. These two terms seemed incompatible and he couldn’t understand their connection.

"Hmph, I heard their related research is still theoretical, who knows if it will come to fruition. These guys are really arrogant. They just grab people like we’re nothing. We are managed by the Otherworld’s Headquarters, not them!"

Since the Otherworld General Staff Headquarters was under the direct control of the Ministry of Defense, Wang Xu spoke confidently.

"Now that the Chief has left, should I let Luo’er out?" Li Si asked tentatively.

"Forget it, the kid is nursing a broken heart. Let him self-heal. Go arrange it, give the Advance Team a month off at the secret mansion in a few days." Wang Xu instructed.

"A vacation, but the Chief..." Li Si asked in surprise.

"Chief Lin said he’s going to upgrade to a larger confinement room for Luo’er, actually sending them on vacation to the secret mansion, to draw attention away from him. He didn’t really want to be hard on Luo’er, just vent his anger." Wang Xu explained.

"Okay, I’ll arrange it!" Li Si nodded and left the office.

Three days after the Advance Team returned, Li Si had prepared carriages for their trip to the mansion. There were three carriages; it was unclear what they were carrying.

"What the hell are all these carriages for?" Hu Daoke asked, looking at the carriages.

"I noticed that what you learned about military skills at Haiya Academy was just the basics. After entering the Otherworld, you’ve been fighting and killing all the time, so it’s necessary to enhance your military literacy." Wang Xu explained, stepping forward.

At this point, Luo’er had emerged from his depression. He looked at the carriage and asked hesitantly, "So the carriages are..."

"Arms and ammunition. The mansion has been converted into a secret military base for training our mercenaries. There are instructors there; they might well help you improve." Wang Xu explained.

"We’re not going on vacation?" Hu Daoke’s face fell when he heard this.

"You wish! You’ve had several vacations already. Aren’t you tired of leisure? Look at how you suffered in that last battle. The bullet-proof plates were shot to pieces." Wang Xu rolled his eyes at him.

"Victory or defeat is a common occurrence for soldiers, and after all, we’ve experienced so many battles, we should have more combat experience than those instructors!" Hu Daoke argued.

"Stop it, our country hasn’t been to war for decades. By your logic, isn’t our country devoid of competent soldiers?" Wang Xu retorted.

After being scolded, Hu Daoke looked quite aggrieved. He mumbled discontentedly, "How annoying, I want to cry. I was so happy today, why did you have to say that to me!"

"So are there a lot of people over there now?" Luo’er asked.

"Yeah, but don’t worry. They’re all familiar faces," Wang Xu waved his hand as a gesture of reassurance.

"Ah, Luo’er, are you guys leaving?" Suddenly, a woman’s voice sounded. Daier, dressed as a maid, ran up to them hastily.

Luo’er looked her up and down. Daier’s maid outfit wasn’t of Otherworld style nor ACG culture, but a very traditional British black and white maid outfit, with a long skirt reaching her ankles. She wore a pair of leather boots and a headscarf.

Luo’er had never thought about what Daier should do here, but he didn’t expect Wang Xu and the others to really make her a maid.

"Are you adapting to being here? Aren’t you too tired?" Upon seeing her, Luo’er asked out of concern.

"No, I’m not," Daier shook her head, expressing her gratitude, "It’s much better here than at the academy. Not only do I have a single dormitory, but the food is also good. So, I’m very thankful to you."

"Relax, Our society is a civilized one where we emphasize equality. We have an eight-hour workday system, which includes room and board, and we even pay wages!" Wang Xu proudly told Luoer.

Luo’er glanced at him, genuinely at a loss for how to counter. Since Daier wouldn’t suffer here, he didn’t have to worry any more.

"Are you leaving now?" Daier asked him.

"Well, we’re going for training and it might take some time before we can return," Luo’er briefly replied.

"Please be careful. The state you guys were in last time scared me quite a bit." Daier expressed her concern.

"Don’t worry, it’s just training." Luo’er assured her.

"Why not let me go with you?" Daier suggested, turning her head to look at Wang Xu.

"Nah, we’ll be fine. You just stay here and work without worries. We’ll be back quite often," Luo’er quickly declined. The place had turned into a training ground with sounds of fighting all the time, so it wouldn’t be good to take her there.

Having bid farewell to everyone, the five members of the Advance Team, together with Yalunte, finally boarded the carriage bound for the training base. After spending so many days with Cheng Ziang, Yalunte felt satisfied. He initially planned to continue traveling the world, but upon hearing about the training, he couldn’t resist tagging along.

If it was about training, then he felt obligated to impart his life’s knowledge to Cheng Ziang, so that he could leave with peace of mind. The Advance Team still had to carry out missions in the future, and since he couldn’t influence Cheng Ziang’s fate, he might as well make him stronger to increase his chances of survival.

Even though they had escaped a predicament, Luo’er still had lingering thoughts about what had happened over the past few days. He felt he had let both Tangmo and Baiyue down, leading him to stay silent in guilt.

"Speaking of it, I seem to be the team captain now, don’t I?" Cheng Ziang suddenly asked while in the carriage.

Luo’er looked at him, then gave a slight nod and replied, "Yep, I’ve been demoted."

"What happened, Luo’er, he..." Hearing these words, Tangmo was the first one to fret.

"Don’t panic, it’s just for a month. The chief still has a soft spot for Luo’er," Cheng Ziang waved his hand to comfort her.

"Is that so?" Tangmo asked with concern.

"Kinda," Luo’er shrugged, "I was so confused from being scolded so harshly that I didn’t even notice his punishment."

"You got off easy just getting a good scolding for the mess you caused. If I were the leader, I would’ve kicked you back to Earth a long time ago," Cheng Ziang leaned back in his chair, jokingly.

"Luo’er is our companion; why are you being so harsh on him?" Tangmo asked with a frown.

"Disobeying orders openly is a serious issue," Cheng Ziang looked at Luo’er and said with a smile, "Not going as far as to have him shot, just a good scolding, Luo’er really is the academy’s treasure!"

"It’s not that serious..." Tangmo mumbled with a concerned frown.
