Chapter 414: Chapter 407: The Three Great Elf Races
After they returned to the Holy Heart City’s Magic Academy, the Church Court members left in a hurry, and Shariya didn’t appear to greet them. They had no idea what everyone was busy with.
After a few days of dejection, Luo’er’s mood significantly improved. It’s not that he was escaping reality; he had just prepared for the worst-case scenario. At most, he would be repatriated to Earth - as an Elf Race hybrid, the one thing he wasn’t lacking was time.
Upon this reflection, Luo’er felt much better. With death as the inevitable outcome, there was no point in sulking as it wouldn’t solve the problem - he may as well face the music and accept it.
This failure made him realize the shortcomings of individualism. Ignoring the opinions of his team members and acting unilaterally would only lead to failure.
Finally, it was time to return to Yazhi City. They remembered arriving by horse initially, only to be knocked down by Fu’en. They had been beaten terribly and barely escaped annihilation. This time, with three girls in tow, they chose a carriage as their means of transport.
They were about to leave Holy Heart City but peculiarly, Shariya, their old friend, didn’t come to say goodbye. Instead, her subordinate was assigned to help them and pass on a message. Apparently, the Church Court had made some unexpected discoveries in the eastern district of the city, so they were busy investigating these findings.
Luo’er had no interest in getting involved in the Church Court’s affairs. The consecutive failures had dealt a massive blow to his spirit. He needed to spend some time recuperating at his stationing point.
As an old friend, Shariya prepared two very modern carriages for them. These carriages had front and back seats and even had a trunk. It was evident that they were made on Earth but used horses as their power source.
The journey from Holy Heart City to Yazhi City was mostly plains, and the carriage could cover the distance in half a month. When they initially arrived on horseback, it had taken them half the time.
The Advance Team consisted of over ten people, along with the three girls. The group was large and filled with women. Given this, everyone implicitly agreed to let Luo’er sit in one carriage with the girls while they occupied the other carriage.
Luo’er had tried to sit with the others, but he was ferociously dragged back into the carriage by the girls. Of course, the usually ardent collector of girls, now was personally tasting the bitter fruit. As Hu Daoke used to say, "whoever pollutes cleans up, whoever develops protects."
Obviously, not everyone rode in the carriage. Yalunte leveraged his personal relationship with Shariya to coax two horses from the academy, one for him and one for Cheng Ziang.
As per the saying, ’three women make a market’, audibly faced with six girls, conflicts were inevitable. Tangmo and Baiyue, who saw themselves as official matches, took the places to Luo’er’s left and right to mark their territories. This was why Luo’er wasn’t keen on staying inside the carriage.
The carriage had a front and back seat. Tangmo, Baiyue, and Luo’er sat on one side, with Tangmo seated next to Zhenli. Being younger, Zhenli did not understand what was going on and stayed out of this meaningless dispute.
The opposite side was occupied by Feliz, Daier, and Shangguan Jiu. Shangguan Jiu initially wanted to sit next to Luo’er, but Tangmo and Baiyue had beaten her to it. Thus, she sulked and sat across from them.
Tangmo held Luo’er’s arm tightly, sweeping her gaze across the girls in front. Luo’er had explained everyone’s origins to her, but she was still angry. Luckily, this was Tangmo being upset, not the other personality Momo. Otherwise, given her temperament, she would have blown up the carriage.
Baiyue also held Luo’er’s arm. She wasn’t interested in observing the others and continued to translate her father’s diary. Although her movements were awkward, it seemed like she had no intention of letting go.
"Can you two stop acting like this? It feels like I’m being escorted as a suspect," Luo’er said after a long silence, looking to his left and right.
"That’s what you get for being a playboy!" Tangmo replied, pouting.
"I’ve already explained everything to you, why are you still hung up over this?" replied Luo’er, feeling somewhat helpless.
"I don’t care, I’m just mad!" Tangmo muttered, lowering her head.
Seeing the affectionate interaction between the two, Daier asked with a bitter tone from across, "Miss Audrey and Luo’er are indeed...?"
"Yes, partners!" Luo’er interrupted her before she could finish, knowing that if Daier were to utter the words ’fiancé,’ then the carriage would inevitably explode.
"Absolutely not, he’s my slave!" Tangmo let go of Luo’er’s arm and, in one swift motion, grabbed his waist.
"Stop groping me..." Luo’er pulled her hand away.
"Am I also the older sister’s slave, since Luo’er is my master?" Zhenli pointed at herself, that cocked her head in confusion.
"Nonsense, I’ve never seen you as a slave," Luo’er replied.
"Does that mean Master Luo’er doesn’t need me anymore?" Zhenli paused, and she almost burst into tears.
"That’s not what I meant, what I meant is that I don’t see you as a slave." Hearing the quivering sob in her voice, Luo’er hurried to explain.
"So what am I?" Truth pointed to herself and asked.
"You..." Luo’er was at a loss for words for a moment.
"Isn’t it obvious? You, you are our child." Tangmo turned around, rubbing Truth’s little head, and said with a smile.
She never asked Luo’er about Truth’s age, so she subconsciously thought that Truth was about the same age as Yaning, around five or six. However, if she observed carefully, she would find that Truth was actually a half-breed of Snow Elves and it was difficult to determine her age by her appearance.
"Stop making things more complicated!" Luo’er gently tapped Tangmo on the head and said to Truth, "I view you as my little sister."
"Little sister, what’s that?" Truth asked, tilting her head. Used to being alone, she didn’t fully understand what familial relationships were, only knowing the bond between her and her mother.
"It’s someone who has watched you grow up since you were little, someone who will accept you for who you are, and give you warmth." Luo’er explained.
"Oh!" Truth nodded, seemingly understanding.
"Isn’t that what lovers do?" Tangmo lifted her head, looking at him and asked, somewhat discontentedly.
"Sweetheart, only you could think of it that way." Luo’er pinched her face and said helplessly.
Watching the two of them being affectionate made Shangguan Jiu feel uncomfortable. She looked at Truth, who was sitting on a soft armchair, with her feet not even reaching the floor, which made Shangguan Jiu curious. She couldn’t help but ask, "How old are you this year, Truth?"
"Oh, she is thirteen this year!" Luo’er answered for her.
His simple sentence shocked everyone in the carriage, they all turned and looked at Truth, studying her carefully.
"Didn’t you guys know?," Luo’er scratched his head, seeming to realize something, and added, "It seems that I forgot to tell you all, Truth is a half-breed Snow Elf. Her age can’t be determined from her appearance."
"A half-breed Snow Elf!" like discovering a New Continent, Shangguan Jiu rushed to Truth, pinched Truth’s tender face and said in surprise, "No wonder! I always thought she had a fair and tender complexion, not at all like someone who had been a beggar."
"Does sister not like Snow Elves?" Truth asked timidly, seeing her excited expression.
"Of course not. Look," Shangguan Jiu said, taking off her own hat and saying with a smile, "Big sister is also a half-breed Elf. However, I am a night elf."
"Now it’s all good. We have all three main Elf half-breeds in this car." Tangmo, coiled around Luo’er’s arm, said cheerfully.
Upon close observation, they found that the three Elves all shared a few features: they were all very good-looking and even for males, they tended to be more feminine.
Originally, they thought the idea that all Elves were handsome and beautiful was a myth, much like how everyone believes that Eastern European girls are all remarkably beautiful. However, after comparing the three Elven half-breeds, they realized that Elves really are extremely attractive.
Whether Elves are mixed with Earthlings or Otherworldlings, their genes are extremely dominant. Almost all Elven traits are carried in dominant genes, even able to lighten the skin when mixed with the Black people.
So whether it’s Luo’er, who’s a half-breed Wood Elf, Shangguan Jiu, a half-breed Night Elf, or Truth, a half-breed Snow Elf, they all carry certain Elven traits such as skin, ears, and pupils, to varying degrees.
For Earthlings, Elves hold a very appealing aesthetic. Earthlings even once attempted to genetically engineer test-tube babies, but all ended in failure. The only ones that succeeded in breeding a half-Elven half-Earthling hybrid were the Otherworld Research Center at headquarters.
However, even after over 20 years of the Origin Project, they had barely managed to breed a few half-breed Elves, so they were still very far from creating a large-scale shopping resource. Before Luo’er arrived, these scientists would never have believed that Elven genes could be fused with Earthling genes because previous failures had shown them that there was reproductive isolation between Elves and Earthlings.
To this day, Elven half-breeds remain a rare resource in the academy. Therefore, when Luo’er discovered that Truth was a half-breed Snow Elf, he knew that the academy would be extremely interested in her. The subsequent Mingming plan required a large number of young Otherworldlings for training, and he felt like every one he could find was a treasure.
According to the academy, they want half-breeds from all races, and not just from certain races. After all, to achieve racial harmony, they must start with the children.
The Mingming Plan will be another significant project following the Origin Project. If the plan goes smoothly, half a century later, headquarters will have a force of its own in the Otherworld, consisting of numerous highly qualified individuals.
