Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 413 - 406: Transmitting to Earth
Chapter 413: Chapter 406: Transmitting to Earth
"What!" Tangmo’s statement shocked everyone, causing a collective gasp.
"What happened?" Luo’er, getting up from the ground, walked up to her and asked.
"These are the coordinates of Earth, no doubt about it!" Tangmo lifted her notebook, comparing two pages of diagrams, her face serious.
"Are you sure?" Luo’er asked in surprise.
"Yes, no doubt about it. Even though one is a rune on the Otherworld Gate and the other is a magic array on the ground, the pattern for the coordinate runes is similar. I just compared them. The coordinates of this magic array match those of the Otherworld Gate in Lipei," Tangmo cast a glance at the remaining array on the ground, her expression grave.
"Can we start the magic array again and catch up?" Hu Daoke asked.
"No!" Tangmo answered definitively. Transport isn’t like summoning. It requires activation on both sides. Starting one side alone won’t enable transport.
"That’s odd. Doesn’t Earth lack magic? How did they manage the pairing then?" Hu Daoke asked, surprised, looking at others quizzically.
"No, Earth has magic!" Murong suddenly answered unexpectedly.
Upon hearing his answer, Shangguan Jiu suddenly remembered something, then said excitedly, "That’s right. Earth has magic, the magic leakage points!"
"Remember how I mentioned this before? Earth’s magic leakage points." Murong turned his head, addressing Luo’er.
The connection between Earth and the Otherworld wasn’t just in these recent thirty years. Long, long ago, Earth had already established some contact with Otherworld. Mainly, people from the Otherworld summoned earthlings to their world, but some Otherworlders were transported to Earth for various reasons, forming the early shape of Earth’s religions.
Some Otherworlders who were transported to Earth, using their understanding of magic, weakened the barrier between Earth and the Otherworld, letting the Otherworld’s magic permeate Earth, creating several magic leakage points.
Even so, the magic from Earth’s leakage points wasn’t generally strong. Its concentration barely allowed the use of even basic magic. However, the arrival of magic caused the physical rules around these leakage points to change.
Upon the opening of the Otherworld Gate, some earthlings were astonished to discover that these magic leakage points allowed the circulation of magical energy in magic crystals. Thus, they established research centers around these leakage points to study the flow of magical energy.
The reason Shenghua Academy is located in Chuan Zhong is precisely that a magic leakage point exists there. Although the Otherworld research center’s headquarters is at Haiya Academy, the main magic experiments take place at Shenghua Academy, and the magic crystals transported to Earth are flown directly to Shenghua Academy.
Following this logic, Fu’en’s destination became clear. Previously, Murong noticed Fu’en constantly checking the time, apparently coordinating with people on Earth. The time the Advance Team launched their attack was exactly when he established the transport connection with Earth, so he could use this magic array to escape.
"But, who would be receiving him on Earth?" Hu Daoke asked, skeptical.
"Need you ask?" Luo’er, gritting his teeth, responded bitterly, "Gene weapons, magic leakage points, interworld transport... It must be the CIA again. Only they are capable of this!"
Reminded by Luo’er, the others instantly connected, previously the special forces of earth that the Advance Team encountered at Helros must have been transported to the Otherworld in the same manner.
The reason for choosing this method of transportation, rather than directly using the Otherworld Gate, is straightforward. The physical constitution of the transported individuals would be reassembled to match Otherworlders, which would grant them immunity to the everyday problems caused by magic power erosion.
"What are we supposed to do next?" Hu Daoke asked, looking around at everyone.
"Moumou, message the headquarters again, tell them Fu’en might have escaped to Earth and suggest a global hunt. After Yue’er records the scene, we’ll retreat!"
"Understood!" Tangmo nodded and went on to send the message.
After everyone left, Luo’er sat back down under the tree, holding his head in his hands, sighing heavily. Cheng Ziang walked up to him, looked down at him, and found himself saying, "I can’t even be bothered to scold you anymore. When we get back to the base, you’re definitely going to be severely reprimanded!"
"I know... the problem lies with me..." Luo’er lowered his head, guiltily accepting his criticism.
"Why can’t you be more flexible? Always seeking revenge!" Cheng Ziang wore a look of despair that his efforts to mentor Luo’er hadn’t paid off.
Seeing Luo’er hanging his head without a valid response, Cheng Ziang sighed, then stated with self-reproach, "It’s partly my fault too for not correcting your issues as Vice-Captain in time. It’s clear you’re just not suited for leadership. You lose control when there are too many people."
He wasn’t doubting Luo’er’s leadership abilities, but felt Luo’er’s approach to his team was unsuitable for a leader. Luo’er could manage the five members of the Advance Team, but when there were more people, it was chaos. Each individual needed to be carefully managed and looked after. There was just too much for him as a leader to handle.
However, since the incident has already happened, Ziang Cheng was helpless and could only think of ways to make up for it. But he was constantly worried that it was Lin Wei who personally arranged this matter. Now that it has been messed up by Luo’er, Wang Xu had no choice but to report it, and Luo’er was likely to be dealt with by Lin Wei.
But he wasn’t particularly concerned because he remembered that Luo Chuan, Luo’er’s father, was indebted to Lin Wei. Hence, considering the face of the departed comrade-in-arms, Lin Wei should not assert harsh punishment on Luo’er.
After tidying up the battlefield, Luo’er checked the status of everyone. Their assault was smooth this time, and most of them only suffered scratches without serious injury. Under the escort of the Church Court’s cavalry, the Advance Team sat in the carriage, heading towards Holy Heart City with their heads down in depression.
Given the chance to start over, Luo’er would certainly not be so reckless. He would immediately have the Church’s personnel capture Fu’en and bring him back to Holy Heart City. But it was too late now. Fu’en had escaped to Earth, and to catch him now would be as difficult as ascending to heaven.
Everyone seemed very gloomy and downcast on the return journey. They had sent a message to the Headquarters but received no reply even until they returned to Holy Heart City. But Luo’er’s greatest fear now was being questioned by the Headquarters. He would rather that messengers from Headquarters never arrive.
Upon arrival at the Academy, Luo’er got off the carriage with a weary expression and a face covered in dirt. The moment he got off the carriage, three girls of varying ages approached and surrounded him, excitedly shouting, "Luo’er, you’re back!"
Those who came were Feliz, Daier, and Zhenli. They had heard Luo’er had returned and were all very delighted.
"Hello!" Luo’er greeted with a painful smile.
Seeing so many girls surrounding Luo’er, Tangmo appeared irked. She stepped off the carriage with a sulky expression, pulling Baiyue by the hand and heading towards the dormitory without turning back, not wanting to see this irritating scene.
"You, that..." Feliz hesitated to speak.
"Don’t worry, I will keep my promise and we will head to Yazhi City tomorrow!" Luo’er said seriously.
"Great!" Hearing his commitment, the three girls immediately broke out into cheerful laughter.
"Well, you all go back and pack now. We leave tomorrow!" Luo’er said to them.
"Alright, we’re going now!" The three girls, seemingly unaware of Luo’er’s disheveled appearance, left him cheerfully.
"You, rather pull girls than carry out the mission..." Ziang Cheng sighed and couldn’t help but comment.
However, Luo’er’s overflowing charm to attract girls played a key role in achieving a breakthrough in their mission. Without Zhenli stealing the transfer list in time, how could they have threatened Azita?
Although they were tricked by this grandson in the end, at least their communication with the Church Court had become more tolerable. If Luo’er had not acted stubbornly, they would probably have Fu’en in their hands and be on their way back to Yazhi City by now.
Regardless, what’s done is done. Luo’er is still a capable commander, and this failure should be a lesson for a long time.
"After we return, are we going back to Earth?" Wu Tairan suddenly thought of something, so he looked at Hu Daoke and asked.
"Probably, if the Headquarters want to continue catching Fu’en, you guys are the best candidates since you’ve seen Fu’en and have confronted him, you know his capability," Ziang Cheng volunteered to answer.
"I don’t really want to go back..." Wu Tairan said with a reluctant expression on his face.
"What’s so good about staying here? There’s no electricity or internet. All we can do every night is sleep," Hu Daoke said, putting his arm around Wu Tairan’s shoulder.
"Well, I’ve gotten used to this kind of life. It seems much more interesting," Wu Tairan said.
"No worries, go back and enjoy your college life. When you guys return to Otherworld, you will definitely be much stronger than us!" Hu Daoke spoke cheerfully.
"I hope so!" Wu Tairan glanced at him and said with a bitter smile.
Ziang Cheng turned his head to look at Luo’er and found him silently hanging his head, so he couldn’t help but say, "You’d better start thinking about how to deal with the people at the Headquarters. I have a feeling you’ll be severely reprimanded when you go back."
"Don’t worry, I’ll speak up for him when the time comes, so don’t put all the blame on him." Murong stepped forward and said.
Ziang Cheng looked at him, then at Luo’er, and shook his head saying, "This guy loves to take all the blame on himself. Just watch, when he gets back to the Headquarters, he’ll try to take all the blame for the failure."
Ziang Cheng understood Luo’er too well, this guy liked to step up for them. This time, having made a mistake, he was even more eager to shoulder the burden; he almost certainly intended to take all the blame for the failure.
