Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 395 - 388: Adding Fuel to the Fire

Chapter 395: Chapter 388: Adding Fuel to the Fire

Tangmo’s quick bandaging didn’t do much. After the strenuous movements, the adhesive tape on Xuzhong Qi’s abdominal wound was torn open. The gauze that originally clogged the wound fell to the ground, and fresh blood started to flow out.

Xuzhong Qi covered his wound in silence, but the continuously flowing blood left a long trail of blood on the ground.

"Luo’er!" Coming out of the street, Cheng Ziang, who was in charge of the rendezvous, rushed up. Seeing Xuzhong Qi’s injury, he furrowed his brows, "What happened?"

"There’s no time for explanations. Is the carriage ready?" Luo’er asked.

"It is, it’s right over there." Cheng Ziang nodded, pointing to a spot about a hundred meters away.

"Go and help, I’ll take Xuzhong Qi to the carriage first!" Luo’er took off the AK rifle he carried and handed it to Cheng Ziang.

"Understood!" Cheng Ziang nodded, accepting the rifle, and after pulling out a magazine from Xuzhong Qi’s belt, he went to support Hu Daoke.

"Old Hu, what’s going on?" Cheng Ziang arrived wielding his rifle, asking by Hu Daoke’s side.

"Damn, these guys popped out of nowhere, and there are so many. If I didn’t have enough bullets, I would have been laid out already." Hu Daoke grumbled, clutching his lightweight machine gun.

"Do you know who they are?" Cheng Ziang asked.

"Who the hell knows, probably members of the Hound Gang..." Hu Daoke said.

"Any distinguishing features?" Cheng Ziang asked.

"They are all losers... but their guns are impressive, they all seem to be Thompsons!" After hesitating a little, Hu Daoke said.

"They certainly are members of the Hound Gang. It was written on the list that the CIA provided them with a hundred Thompson submachine guns." Cheng Ziang gritted his teeth.

At this time, those chasing from behind had generally stopped. Soon, Yalunte and Zhuanzhu ran over, holding a submachine gun. They were nearly taken down by Hu Daoke and Cheng Ziang who almost mistook them for enemies.

"Don’t fire, we’re on the same side!" Yalunte raised his submachine gun and shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Understood, hurry over, they need our support!" Cheng Ziang waved and shouted.

Luo’er was helping Xuzhong Qi to steadily jog forward, with Wu Tairan, who was guarding Fu’en, in front of him, and Tangmo keeping watch from behind.

Lowering his head to catch his breath, he suddenly realized that Xuzhong Qi’s abdomen was bleeding heavily, forming a long trail of blood on the ground. He looked up, angrily questioning, "Why didn’t you tell us you were losing so much blood?"

"I’m fine, Captain, let’s keep going." Xuzhong Qi gritted his teeth and said. His face was pale, his forehead was covered in cold sweat, even his lips had lost their color.

"Listen to me, I don’t want to hear you say you’re fine anymore. Do you want to die? Losing so much blood and you don’t even make a sound?" Luo’er was furious.

He always used to treat people with kindness, but whenever a teammate got hurt, his protective nature would surface. They had entered the Otherworld a long time ago and had fought many battles, large and small. Yet, this was the first time Luo’er got so angry at someone that he gave them a piece of his mind.

"I’ll hold on until we get into the carriage!" Xuzhong Qi gritted his teeth and said.

"If you died without my permission, you would be disobeying me. We’re part of the advance team and I call the shots!" Luo’er glared at him and said through clenched teeth.

"I’m sorry Captain... I’ve only been a burden since joining the advance team, I haven’t been of any help..." Xuzhong Qi said weakly.

"Shut up, just shut up, you hear me!" Luo’er shouted angrily. Xuzhong Qi’s words sounded like a last testament, so even though Luo’er was shouting fiercely, he was actually terrified at what he was hearing.

"Just 30 meters left... 20 meters...hold on...we are almost there..." Luo’er looked at the carriage parked further down the road and repeated anxiously in his heart.

However, the disaster did not seem to end there. Just when everyone felt hope was in sight, a sudden gunshot echoed through the street. Wu Tairan, who was leading the way, screamed terribly and collapsed on the ground.

Then, another group from the Hounds Gang emerged from the other side of the street. The difference was that they were armed with a variety of weapons, including a FAL semi-automatic rifle – responsible for the recent gunshot.

Hearing the shot, Fu’en instinctively crouched down. After realising Wu Tairan had fallen, he took a moment to steady himself and noticing reinforcements not too far away, he broke into a smile and started running towards them.

"Damn it!" Luo’er muttered under his breath, then rolled behind a wooden vendor’s cart. He carefully put Xuzhong Qi down, then drew a handgun from his waist and fired towards Fu’en and the emerging enemies.

"Thud, thud, thud..." The handgun fitted with a silencer made a muted sound. However, due to the far distance and questionable accuracy, it emptied a whole magazine before it grazed Fu’en’s calf.

With a cry, Fu’en rolled on the ground. The henchmen from the Hound Gang immediately rushed to his aid and started firing at Luo’er. The wooden vendor cart couldn’t withstand the bullet attacks. Luo’er kicked Xuzhong Qi to the ground and threw himself down as well.

At this point, the shot Wu Tairan was rolling on the ground. Just as he was about to reach for his assault rifle nearby, two bullets hit him again. He shuddered, and Luo’er could see his clothes being torn by the impact.

Witnessing this, Luo’er was immediately enraged. He grabbed Xuzhong Qi’s assault rifle and knelt on the ground, unleashing a volley of bullets at the attackers.

A rain of bullets instantly took down one of the gang members. The rest began firing at Luo’er. The first bullet hit his right chest, but it was blocked by his bulletproof plate. Luo’er leaned back and continued to shoot crazily at them.

After taking down another one, Luo’er was hit by gunfire in the abdomen. It felt as if he had been punched hard. A wave of severe nausea washed over him, and his body started to fall backwards uncontrollably.

"Luo’er!!" Seeing Luo’er fall, Tangmo let out a heart-wrenching cry.

She rushed to Luo’er’s side and brandished her magic wand at the attackers. Instant twin explosions erupted without warning, causing a cloud of dust. Next, she started casting the shield spell and then started pulling Luo’er back by his shoulder strap.

"I’m okay!" Waving his arm wildly, Luo’er took a deep breath and finally regained a bit of his strength.

Upon seeing Luo’er unhurt, Tangmo sighed in relief, her heart falling back into place. She looked up to see Fu’en being led away by the henchmen of Hound Gang off in the distance, and anxiously cried, "Fu’en’s been taken away!"

"Forget him. Give me cover with the shield, I need to check on Wu Tairan!" Luo’er struggled to his feet and barked out the command.

The advance team had two members injured. Luo’er didn’t want to capture Fu’en alive anymore. He had initially intended to kill Fu’en with those previous shots, but they hadn’t hit any vital points.

Under Tangmo’s cover, Luo’er stumbled over to Wu Tairan. He was on the ground now, and seemed somewhat delirious. His thigh was pierced by a bullet. The blood gushed out, pooling on the ground. It was clear that he had been hit in an artery.

Luo’er reached into his pouch for medical supplies and tied a tourniquet around the upper part of Wu’s thigh with a bandage, trying to stop him from bleeding out and going into shock. After dealing with the wound on his leg, he started to check on Wu’s other injuries. Thankfully, both bullets had hit the plate and hadn’t struck any vital organs.

Feeling a bit relieved, Luo’er picked up Wu Tairan and ran towards the carriage. The cart-driver, terrified by the situation, was about to flee but was stopped by Luo’er’s threatening firearm.

After placing Wu Tairan on the cart, he turned to help Xuzhong Qi. It was then that he noticed that the rest of the standby unit had followed them. Murong and Hu Daoke were helping Xuzhong Qi hobble towards the carriage.

"Everyone, get on the carriage and head back to the academy!" Luo’er forgot about his own pain in the flurry of action. While keeping an eye out with his firearm, he yelled at his team.

"What about Fu’en?" Cheng Ziang rushed up to ask.

"Forget him. The situation is too urgent to care about him now," Luo’er said.

"The carriage can’t hold that many people. My mentor and I will stay at the inn and see if we can find Fu’en. You guys go back to the academy!" Cheng Ziang told Luo’er.

"I see, stay safe!" Luo’er nodded in acknowledgment.

Under the protection of Cheng Ziang and Yalunte, everyone boarded the carriage. Urged on by Luo’er, the cart-driver whipped up the horses and the carriage quickly headed towards the East City district.

On the jolting carriage, everyone was trying their best to control Xuzhong Qi’s bleeding. Luo’er pressed a piece of gauze against the wound, then turned to Tangmo and asked angrily, "What happened? How did you try to stop the bleeding?"

"Sorry, I didn’t expect it to tear open..." Tangmo voiced her regret.

"It’s not Sister Moumou’s fault... my actions were too reckless..." Xuzhong Qi weakly defended her.

"I told you to shut up!" An angry Luo’er snapped and then glared hard at Tangmo.

His mood was poor. This operation was supposed to conclude flawlessly. He did not expect these complications. Not only had Fu’en escaped, but also two of his men got injured.

Luo’er now despised the Hound Gang. If he had another chance to see Azita again, he would without question, blow Azita’s head off.

"Don’t be angry, it’s not entirely your fault..." Seeing Luo’er’s remorseful expression, Murong patted his arm in comfort.

Xuzhong Qi and Wu Tairan were both his teammates. Before joining the advance team, he was always worried that Luo’er would take advantage of them. However, in the current circumstance, he was wrong about Luo’er. Ever since they joined the advance team, Luo’er had always treated every team member well, without any discrimination.

Luo’er lowered his head, ignoring his consolation, looking extremely miserable. His hands were stained with blood. He wiped his face, and his delicate cheeks were instantly smeared with blood.
