Chapter 306 - 299: Double Reunion
Chapter 306: Chapter 299: Double Reunion
Almost everyone was stunned by what was happening in front of them, including Ziang. He had no idea why Yalunte was behaving in this manner. Granted, it was a long-awaited reunion, but he seemed to be overly excited.
After a momentary brain freeze, Ziang forcefully pushed Yalunte away. Surrounded by his startled gaze, Ziang instinctively protected his body. Shocked, he blurted out, "I’m warning you, I’m not into men!"
"Huh?" Yalunte was taken aback and hastily waved his hands, trying to explain, "No, it’s not like that! I just got excited seeing you, that’s all!"
"If I’m not mistaken, there’s no custom of hugging in the Otherworld. What are you trying to do?" Ziang continued to watch him warily, not backing down.
However, when the topic of hugging was mentioned, Luo thought of Melia, and his face couldn’t help but turn awkward.
"I apologize... I’m sorry, I got carried away..." Yalunte explained incoherently, failing to hold back his tears, but there was still a joyful smile on his face.
"What’s going on? Why are you crying and laughing at the same time?" Ziang looked confused, frowning at him.
Despite seeing his son, Yalunte still remembered his promise to Wang Xu, to refrain from recognizing Ziang right away. For Yalunte, being able to be with Ziang was satisfaction enough.
He hadn’t really noticed the last time they met. But during this reunion, for the first time, he realized how much Ziang resembled his mother Lin. Her features—those eyes, nose, and mouth—each bore her mark. Although she had been gone for over two decades, Lin had left a lasting impression on him.
This is our son, mine and Lin’s son. The headquarters didn’t lie to me, he survived. He grew up safe and well. He has become a man who can manage things on his own.
Thinking about this, uncontrollable tears flooded down Yalunte’s face, and he couldn’t stop them no matter how much he tried.
"Okay, stop crying..." Ziang frowned, reluctantly handing him a tissue to wipe his tears.
Even though he didn’t know why Yalunte was crying so hard, Ziang felt uncomfortable seeing him in tears; he felt like he couldn’t bear to see him cry.
Just when everyone’s attention was focused on Yalunte and Ziang, a petite figure emerged from behind the horses. As soon as she saw Luo among the crowd, her vision blurred as if all the wrongs done to her during these days had transformed into tears.
For the first time, she showed an astonishing speed that girls her age haven’t shown. Bypassing everyone’s notice, she threw herself into Luo’s arms.
"Luo, you’re Luo, the half-elf Luo!" As Feliz buried herself in his chest, her pent-up grievances seemed to dissolve into a stream of unstoppable tears, rolling down her cheeks.
A tad startled, Luo was taken aback by the sudden embrace from a stranger. But when he heard her voice, he froze, then cried out involuntarily, "Feliz, What are you doing here?"
Feliz didn’t reply; she just continued to sob in his chest. Seeing her like this, Luo felt a chill washing over him, and instinctively turned his head to look at Tangmo.
With a frigid gaze, Tangmo was staring straight at them. Perhaps due to the mishap from last time, she refrained from acting out rashly this time. But her detached gaze sent a chill down Luo’s spine.
Luo hastily pushed Feliz away then grabbed her arm. Alarmed, he asked, "Feliz, weren’t you at the Sacred Heart Magic Academy? How did you end up here...and with Mr. Sword Saint?"
Luo vaguely remembered the last time he saw Feliz, the usually haughty young lady remained surprisingly calm when she learned about Luo’s true identity. But now, that collected demeanor seemed to have disappeared.
"We came here for practice, but... but my friends were all killed..." Feliz wiped away her tears with the back of her hand, burning with grievance.
"What exactly happened?" Her words left Luo even more confused.
"Little elf, this girl has some important information for you to pass on. It’s about the Earth’s military preparing to invade the continent." After regaining composure, Yalunte took a deep breath. Though still basking in the joy of reunion, he told Luo in a serious tone.
"Earth’s military... wait, why do you all know about Earth’s military and their plans to invade the Otherworld?" Luo quickly picked up on the implications.
"Luo, Luo, listen to me," After wiping away her tears, Feliz grasped his hand nervously and spoke tearfully, "You must tell your people not to come to the continent. The invaders... they have already set up an ambush at the First Line Gorge, ready to strike the Otherworld’s army!"
"An ambush at the First Line Gorge..." Luo repeated her words, wrinkling his forehead, struggling to understand.
"First Line Gorge is about fifteen kilometers northwest of Yazhi City. It’s a vital route to Holy Heart City," Yalunte explained from the side.
"In other words, the people of Otherworld already know about Earth’s plan to send troops and have prepared for an ambush," added Cheng Ziang from the side.
"What exactly happened? Wasn’t Earth’s military operation supposed to be secret? How is it that so many people know about it?" Luo’er asked, looking confused.
"It’s true," Feliz said excitedly, "I heard it with my own ears. After they found us, they wanted to kill us to silence us. I was lucky to escape. I ran into Uncle Swordsman, but, but Xuela and the others..."
By this point, Feliz could no longer hold back her tears. Yalunte added from the side, "This girl and her companions were being chased and killed by a few Magic Academy instructors. Her companions are all dead, but I managed to rescue her."
"So that’s what happened..." Luo’er nodded, looking at her with sympathy. "You’ve had a hard time!" he said in consolation.
Hearing Luo’er’s comforting words, Feliz, unable to control herself, once again rushed into Luo’er’s embrace, sobbing loudly.
"People from the academy, are you sure?" Cheng Ziang looked at Yalunte and asked skeptically.
"I can’t be sure if they are from the academy, but they should all be followers of the Church Court." Yalunte shrugged.
"In other words, the Church Court knows about Earth’s military action plan. Then won’t Earth’s surprise settlement plan be in vain? Members of the Church Court could easily assemble troops in Yazhi City to prepare for a counter-attack. They could ambush Earth’s forces while they cross over through the Otherworld Gate. Even though Earth’s troops are well-prepared, they would be caught off guard and would have to retreat in disgrace," Cheng Ziang said, frowning.
"But how did the Church Court find out about Earth’s military attack plan?" Luo’er asked, puzzled.
"Could it be the last tripartite conference?" Cheng Ziang pondered, frowning.
"Could it be the Americans?" Hu Daoke questioned from the side.
"It shouldn’t be. What good would it do for the Americans to let the Church Court meddle in Earth’s military occupancy plan? Besides, most of the countries involved in the plan are from NATO. As long as Yazhi City is occupied, the United States would definitely come out on top when the spheres of influence are divided," Cheng Ziang dismissed, shaking his head.
"This makes the problem serious. Although it is not clear why the Church Court did not directly set an ambush in Yazhi City, if they have really learned about Earth’s military action plan, they surely would have taken corresponding measures. It’s known that among forces in the Otherworld, the Church Court is the most vehemently opposed to the deployment of Earth’s troops," Luo’er shared, his brows knitted together.
Cheng Ziang glanced at Yalunte, then asked, "Aren’t you an informant for the Headquarters? Shouldn’t you be able to contact the Headquarters directly? Why not reply to them directly?"
"I tried, but it seems like the Headquarters hasn’t been paying attention to me. I don’t know what happened," Yalunte shrugged, innocent.
Cheng Ziang and Luo’er exchanged glances. It seemed likely that the Headquarters had been attacked. The magic messenger, as a one-to-one communication method, also meant that if the people at Headquarters were in danger, Yalunte would directly lose contact with them.
"Never mind, we can’t manage that much. Let’s first send a warning message to the main team. Moumou!" Luo’er turned around to call Tangmo, who was quietly watching him and Feliz in his arms, her face devoid of any expression.
Seeing Tangmo’s demeanor, Luo’er felt a sense of unease once again. He quickly pushed Feliz away and said apologetically, "I’m sorry, I need to send a message to the main team."
"Moumou," after comforting Feliz, Luo’er turned his head and ordered loudly, "Write a letter to the people at the main team, tell them the situation has changed, suggest they abandon the placement plan!"
"Okay!" Tangmo faintly replied, her face completely emotionless.
"Are you alright?" Luo’er asked, looking at her uncertainly.
"I’m fine, just a little unhappy..." Tangmo replied quietly, then lowered her head and start looking for something in her bag.
Luo’er was relieved that Tangmo was not throwing a fit out of jealousy. Although he felt that something was off, he didn’t pay much attention to it at the moment.
He turned his head again and continued talking with Cheng Ziang. Cheng Ziang, acting as the team’s deputy leader, had always demonstrated his excellent decision-making and analytical abilities.
"Luo’er, turn your hand over..." Suddenly, Tangmo said hoarsely from behind him. Luo’er didn’t hesitate and instinctively handed his hand to her.
"The other side..." Tangmo continued, grabbing his other hand and turning it to his back.
"Moumou, you..." Luo’er was about to ask, but suddenly felt a swelling pain in his fingers. Tangmo had somehow tied his thumbs together.
