Chapter 305: Chapter 298: Reunion After a Long Separation

Feliz tightened her cloak around her and quickly followed Yalunte, leaving the disputed territory behind.

"Mount up!" Seeing her approach, Yalunte glanced at her tattered hem and waved for her to get on the horse.

"Uncle, aren’t you getting on?" Feliz climbed onto the horse and looked at him with a question.

"I’d prefer not to. It’s not suitable for a man and woman to get too close!" Yalunte replied, with a phrase straight out of Chinese.

"What do you mean?" Feliz frowned at him. "Uncle, are you having some improper thoughts about me?"

Yalunte stumbled in surprise, nearly falling flat on his face. He did not anticipate such a pure and innocent girl to utter such words.

"What nonsense are you talking about? I’m in my fifties, would I really be interested in a young girl like you?" Yalunte rolled his eyes in exasperation.

"Then you should get on the horse. We can’t go fast if you’re leading it!" Feliz urged, her mind filled with a hurry to proceed.

"Is everyone in the Uzistas Family as intense as you?" Yalunte asked. He recalled knowing several members of the Uzistas family when he was a legion commander.

"Are you saying that everyone in our family is a brute?" Feliz frowned at him.

"I didn’t say that. Forget it, I can’t be bothered to argue with you." Yalunte dismissed her with a wave of his hand.

"Uncle, come on, get on the horse. We gotta get moving!" Feliz urged again.

"All right, all right, move back!" Out of alternatives, Yalunte sighed and climbed onto the horse, letting Feliz sit behind him.

"Uncle, you smell bad!" Feliz, clutching his clothes, bluntly said.

"Do you want to walk?" Yalunte responded, rolling his eyes again. Having been on the road for so many days without a chance to clean himself, he obviously didn’t smell pleasant.

"No, I can bear it." Feliz muttered, holding her nose.

Yalunte sighed, finding himself entirely at the mercy of this little girl. "You’re a magic student, right?" He asked.

"Yes, Uncle. So what?" Feliz asked back.

"Take this. It might save you if anything unexpected happens." Without turning back, Yalunte handed her a magic wand that he’d picked up on their journey.

"Thank you, Uncle!" Feliz gratefully responded. The fact that Yalunte was willing to give her the wand showed the trust he had in her. Otherwise, he would not have exposed his back to her or given her a weapon.

Back to the Advance Team, Tangmo had just found Luo’er and handed him a piece of intelligence from Headquarters. The report said the Headquarters was just attacked. The attackers numbered between twenty to thirty and managed to penetrate the estate and launch an attack through the estate’s gaps.

According to the report, the group was equipped with NATO-standard weapons from the Cold War era. Regrettably, none of them were apprehended so their identities remain unknown.

The assault caused substantial damage, with several mercenaries and Otherworld inhabitants losing their lives, and many staff members injured. Fortunately, Wang Xu and Li Si weren’t injured in the attack.

Headquarters warned the Advance Team to stay cautious. As the battling was drawing closer, Yazhi City’s atmosphere began to tense up. Various unidentified forces started to stir, trying to benefit from this operation.

"Luo’er, what should we do next?" Tangmo asked, looking worried. Unlike before, instead of directly giving Luo’er the intelligence, she opened it and read it herself. Although it was a minor detail, it was still noticed.

"We should wait here for a bit. The report said Mr. Sword Saint is on his way here and the Headquarters is temporarily out of contact with him. They’ll just have to wait," Luo’er replied with a frown.

"Oh, man, Brother Yalunte is coming!" The mention of Yalunte excited Hu Daoke.

"Why would he come?" Cheng Ziang frowned and asked. Although he was happy, he was also puzzled.

"Wang Xu asked him to help out. He thought we might not be able to handle this task on our own," Luo’er shrugged and then passed the paper to them.

"Well, it doesn’t matter. It’s good that Brother is coming, now we can have our drinking company back!" Hu Daoke said excitedly. He was a close friend of Yalunte and they always had many topics to discuss over drinks.

"No drinking on this mission, including you, Mr. Sword Saint!" Luo’er threw him a glance and issued a serious warning, causing Hu Daoke to stick out his tongue.

Luo’er estimated the time. Based on Yalunte’s speed, they should regroup in two days. Before losing connection with the Headquarters, the Headquarters had provided him with the current coordinates of Advance Team. This meant that all they needed to do was wait for Yalunte here for two days before considering whether to continue their mission.

"This guy comes and goes as he pleases, does he think our Advance Team is a public toilet!" Cheng Ziang spoke out, evidently pleased inwardly but not holding back his sharp tongue. He still couldn’t forget his last parting scene with Yalunte, who, after two months’ roaming around in Saint Basaya, had finally decided to return.

"There, there. No need to be upset. He’ll be here shortly, and you’ll be able to see him immediately!" Luo’er knew what was going through his mind and tried to comfort him.

"Who cares about him?" retorted Cheng Ziang defiantly.

After burning the letter in his hand, Tangmo clung to him like a magnet again. Ever since their reconciliation, her infatuation with Luo’er just seemed to intensify. Obviously, the reason she had requested the reconciliation was to be close to Luo’er.

"Moumou, you’re distracting me!" said Luo’er reluctantly, wrestling his arm out of her embrace.

"You don’t have anything else to do. Why won’t you let me hug you, don’t you like me anymore?" Tangmo, rejected by Luo’er, instantly changed her expression and asked him pitifully.

"We are out in the wilderness with a lot to do," Luo’er told her helplessly.

"Then let me help you!" Tangmo immediately chipped in.

"Then, first, let go of me. How am I supposed to work with you clinging on me like this?" Faced with Tangmo’s insistence, Luo’er unusually exhibited resistance, unlike his former self who would typically lose himself in her tender affection.

"Well, I’ll just follow you around then..." Tangmo released him reluctantly with a pitiful face, clutching his hem tightly subsequently.

Apparently, after being rebuffed several times, she had learned the tactic of retreating to advance.

While they were encamped in the wilderness, they had to deal with the dual threat of wild animals and banditry. If it weren’t for waiting for Yalunte, Luo’er would have preferred to stay in an inn.

They stayed in the wilderness for a full two days. Cheng Ziang, while not admitting it outright, was full of anticipation as he kept an eye on their surroundings— ready to spring into action at the slightest disturbance.

During those two days, Luo’er kept thinking about the attack on the Headquarters. Theoretically, it was not just a random incident, but rather a premeditated act. What was the motive of those causing trouble at this crucial moment? Were they trying to provoke the Headquarters into deploying troops?

And who were those people anyway? If they were from Otherworld, were they related to the Aud people who had been causing mayhem in Yazhi City? Or could those people possibly be from the CIA?

The latter seemed unlikely, as the CIA and the Headquarters were maintaining a peaceful relationship on the surface. If they offended the Headquarters, they wouldn’t gain anything. They’ve known for some time about the location and movements of the Headquarters’ personnel. If they wanted to stir things up, they could easily meddle with this.

Regardless, the most crucial matter at the moment is the plan to infiltrate into Otherworld. Success or failure would only be clear once the plan was underway. When they were initially sent as the Advance Team into Otherworld, their mission was to gather intelligence in preparation for deployment of troops.

Once this conflict is over, their burdens should be significantly lightened. At that time, Luo’er would finally have enough time to do what he has always wanted to do.

Just as Luo’er was lost in his thoughts, suddenly they heard footsteps approaching— the sound of horse hooves hitting the ground. Luo’er snapped out of his thoughts, whistled softly, signaling everyone to be prepared for battle, and then cocked his rifle.

Although they were unsure if the newcomer was Yalunte, Luo’er decided it was best to be fully prepared. Living in the wild, they generally abided by the law of the dark forest.

As the footsteps got closer, a horse came into view. There were two figures on the horse, both clad in cloaks, making it impossible to identify them immediately.

The pair rode their horse to a spot not far from them and then reined it in. The horse neighed once before coming to a stop.

Without any hesitation, Luo’er blew a whistle, and his team quietly surrounded them. With his gun pointing towards the riders, Luo’er slowly moved closer to them, then asked coldly, "Who goes there?"

"Don’t you recognize me, little elf?" One of them lifted his hood, revealing a familiar face.

"Drop your guns, it’s a friend!" Recognizing Yalunte, Luo’er breathed a sigh of relief and signaled his team to lower their weapons.

Sitting high on his horse, Yalunte looked down at those who had come to surround him, and suddenly, he spotted a familiar figure. Cheng Ziang stood beside Luo’er, glaring at him displeasingly.

Upon seeing his son, Yalunte felt a surge of emotion. He immediately swung himself off the horse and, before anyone could react, he embraced Cheng Ziang.
