Chapter 262: Chapter 255: Swordsman and Princess

Once I sat down, Dr. An Liang turned his head and started speaking through the translator to the young couple. He spoke in English because the translator only understood English. Because of that, I had the good fortune of listening to their conversation.

"The lady’s illness should ideally be treated on Earth, where they have more advanced medical technology, and they can effectively treat diseases like this," Dr. An Liang said to the couple seriously.

"But," relayed through the translator, the young man expressed his concern, "we cannot stay on Earth for too long. If we do, even if her illness is cured, we’ll die because of the environment there."

"May I ask what your job is and why you know about these issues?" Dr. An Liang appeared to be somewhat on his guard due to the worries expressed by the young man.

"I apologize for not mentioning it earlier, but I was a part of the Prophetic War," admitted the young man.

Upon hearing the translator’s words, I watched the young man with surprised eyes. At over twenty years old, with a handsome face that still had a hint of youth, it was hard for me to believe that he had participated in the great war.

"I see," Dr. An Liang smiled, not taken aback, but instead, he said with relief, "Since the war is over and both sides have signed a peace agreement, we are no longer enemies."

"Thank you for your understanding," the young man said gratefully.

Dr. An Liang carefully examined the young woman, her hood hiding her face but the visible section was enough to take one’s breath away. However, his gaze didn’t hold traces of desire when he looked at her, rather it had a hint of concern.

"May I be excused to intrude a little?" Dr. An Liang asked, "Could the lady extend her hand for me to examine her condition?"

"How should we do that?" The young man looked at him and then at his wife, seeming slightly baffled.

"Please, place your hand on the table, palm up," Dr. An Liang instructed.

"Like this?" The woman looked at her husband before extending her hand. Her skin was so white and smooth that it resembled jade; I could even see veins beneath her skin.

"Excuse me!" With an apology, Dr. An Liang reached out and put his fingers on her wrist.

Appearing shy and unsure as Dr. An Liang held her wrist, the woman looked towards her husband. The young man patted her shoulder to reassure her.

After holding the young woman’s wrist, Dr. An Liang closed his eyes. I seemed to recall seeing something like this before. After a while, he opened his eyes and stared intently at her. Finally, he asked, "May I ask you a few questions?"

The couple exchanged a glance, not knowing what Dr. An Liang had discovered. The young man respectfully said, "Please ask."

"Has the lady been feeling nauseous recently, vomiting, and losing her appetite?" Dr. An Liang asked.

As if he had identified her symptoms correctly, the young woman widened her eyes. She looked at her husband, then at Dr. An Liang, and nodded in confirmation.

Seeing her affirmation, Dr. An Liang nodded back and followed up with another question, "Have you two been sexually active recently?"

On hearing this term, the translator hesitated for a moment before translating with a blush. When the two young people heard the translation, they blushed and didn’t know how to respond.

Scratching his head awkwardly, the young man asked with confusion, "Sir, how did you know?"

"Congratulations, madam, you’re pregnant!" Dr. An Liang’s words, delivered through the translator, completely stunned the couple.

The young man stared at his wife with a flushed face, elation filling his smile. The woman, however, kept her head down and didn’t make a sound. Having such personal information revealed by a stranger was indeed a little embarrassing.

"How, how did you know? Are you, are you a doctor?" The young man stuttered excitedly.

"I indeed studied some medicine, but just a bit," Dr. An Liang laughed and said modestly.

"So, so is this true? I mean, just by doing that, you knew she was..." The young man continued stuttering.

"I can’t be completely certain, but the accuracy rate is around 80%," Dr. An Liang admitted honestly.

"Lin, Lin, we..." Having heard his words, the young man turned and started calling his wife’s name. Since the revelation, she had not dared to lift her head.

"But," Dr. An Liang’s tone changes, revealing a serious expression on his face, "Madam’s illness is already very serious, this child could cause her to lose her life!"

Upon hearing this, the face of the young man changed immediately, and his previously joyous expression was suddenly filled with panic. He stared at Dr. An Liang with wide eyes, his expression one of disbelief.

"Sir, then what should we do?" The youngster asked, worried. Not only did he need to save his wife’s life now, but also that of their unborn child.

"I repeat, it would be best for you to seek treatment from the people of Earth. Their medical methods may not guarantee complete recovery, but surely they’d offer better chances than none." Dr. An Liang suggested again.

"This...," the young man seemed puzzled after hearing him, looking at his wife with a troubled face.

"Of course, if you’re worried about your wife, you can seek treatment in Yazhi City." Dr. An Liang went on to suggest.

Hearing his words, for the first time, a spark of hope kindled in the young man’s eyes. Looking at Dr. An Liang, he excitedly asked, "In that case, will you aid us?"

"Of course I can!" Dr. An Liang smiled and produced a card from his breast pocket. He wrote something on it in Chinese, so I didn’t understand what he was writing.

After writing, Dr. An Liang handed the card to the young man and instructed, "You take this card to a mansion about five kilometers west of the Otherworld Gate in Yazhi City, where you should find someone guarding it. Find a man with black hair and black eyes, give him the card and he will help you solve the problem."

"Thank you, sir!" The young man stood up to accept the card, expressing his gratitude.

"You’re welcome." Dr. An Liang nodded slightly. I seemed to see a trace of satisfied smile on his face.

While they were communicating, a loud clamor came from outside the inn. In response to the sound, the young man and girl became tense all of a sudden. The girl instinctively reached out and grabbed her husband’s hand.

Immediately afterwards, the door was kicked open hard, and a team of fully armed knights walked in. The man in the lead, dressed in an armor as exquisite as a piece of art, slightly bowed to the young couple upon seeing them and respectfully said, "My Lord, Leader of the Legion, please return with us!"

As the interpreter mentioned the word for Legion Leader, I was almost stunned. I hadn’t expected this young man before me to be a Legion Leader, and he moreover had participated in the Otherworld War. Could it be that the rank of Legion was merely the bottom of the military in Otherworld?

The two parties were still conversing. The interpreter was translating their dialogue to Dr. An Liang, and I was fortunate enough to hear some of it.

Upon hearing the man’s words, the young man seemed quite angry. He drew his long sword from his waist, indicating an inevitable fight ahead. The girl rushed in front of the man and loudly scolded the man. Her appearance seemed to scare the man.

While the interpreter was translating their conversation, he suddenly changed his expression and said with disbelief, "That, that girl is the princess, Princess of Odelanqi!"

Upon hearing his words, I was also shocked. I looked at Dr. An Liang, but there wasn’t any surprise on his face. Only a confident smile, as though everything was within his expectations.

Suddenly, the man looked over at us, pointed his long sword at us and asked loudly about something. The translator quickly explained. The man stared at us suspiciously but did not question any further.

The translator said the man was questioning our identity. He told the man that we were a delegation from Earth, which is why he didn’t ask more. However, the young couple might be in trouble now.

As the battle was imminent, almost everyone in the inn had fled. The interpreter suggested that we leave this place to avoid getting involved. However, Dr. An Liang, still fixated on the young man, agreed to move aside to the corner of the room, but was still determined to observe the fight.

The knights surrounded the young couple, each brandishing swords from their waists. It was clear they didn’t show much mercy towards the young man. The young man motioned his wife to back away a few steps, holding his sword high, signaling them to attack.

What happened next was incredibly surprising, the man’s moves were as graceful as dance routines. His sword was as quick and deadly as a poisonous snake, precisely penetrating loopholes in the knights’ armors. The depth of his pierces was not deep, but sufficient to incapacitate the knights.

After a few rounds, the knights surrounding him fell to the ground groaning. This was the most impressive fight I had ever seen. There was no dazzling magic or fierce fighting, just swift movements and the young man easily took out the knights.

Suddenly, a knight who wasn’t wounded too badly drew a dagger from his waist and aimed at the young man’s lower back. Since the young man had no armor like the knights, if he took a hit, he would surely be critically injured.

Just as we were feeling worried for him, a ball of fire suddenly appeared and hit the knight who intended to ambush him. Though not powerful, it successfully disrupted his sneak attack.

We hadn’t expected that the young princess was also a mage. We saw her raising her magic wand summoning the fire to prevent her husband from being ambushed by the knight. Casting magic seems to take a heavy toll on her. After casting one spell, her face turned pale and she fell to the ground due to exhaustion.

"Lin!" The young man turned his head and called out anxiously to his wife. The sword in his hand pierced through the rib slit of the knight like lightning, puncturing his lungs in one stroke. The knight wailed and fell to the ground convulsing in pain.
