Chapter 1557: Chapter 1550: Coming One After Another

"What’s wrong, why so tense?" Although Hu Daoke couldn’t see Cheng Ziang’s expression, he could feel something was off by his actions.

"Damn, I’ve lost my gun." Cheng Ziang said, as cold sweat broke out on his body once again.

"What the hell, your gun is lost? Let me check." Hu Daoke said and reached towards his groin.

"Stop joking at a time like this, I’m serious." Cheng Ziang said, visibly upset.

"What gun did you lose?" Hu Daoke asked.

"Yuanzi handgun?" Cheng Ziang thought for a moment and then said.

"Bro, how can you even lose that?" Hu Daoke exclaimed in shock.

"Now’s not the time to blame." Cheng Ziang said irritably.

"Think hard, maybe you didn’t bring it when you left the house." Hu Daoke comforted him.

"Why would I go out without a gun?" Cheng Ziang took a deep breath and said.

"Then think about when exactly you lost it." Hu Daoke said, comforting and reminding him.

"It must have been when I bumped into someone, it must have been taken by her, that thief." Cheng Ziang mused and finally had a clue.

"Who is this thief, what does she look like?" Hu Daoke pressed on.

"I don’t know..." Cheng Ziang said, frowning.

"No way, you talked to her and you don’t even know?" Hu Daoke was incredulous, his expression hidden by a mask.

"That’s the strange part, I should remember I met someone, but who she is, what she looks like, I have no idea. It’s as if someone used an eraser to wipe my memories about her from my mind." Cheng Ziang said, troubled.

"That’s really weird." Hu Daoke was astounded.

"Right now, I’d rather hope I’m dreaming, at least I’d wake up safe and sound." Cheng Ziang said sincerely.

"Maybe we’re really dreaming, why don’t you bite yourself and see?" Hu Daoke suggested.

"Bite yourself if you want." Cheng Ziang said, head down.

Hu Daoke didn’t hesitate, and after a moment of thought, he fiercely bit his own arm, instantly screaming as if a ghost wailed and a wolf howled.

"Ow, ow, ow, this isn’t a dream." Hu Daoke said with a mournful expression.

"Actually..." Cheng Ziang glanced at him, shook his head, and said, "Even in a dream, biting yourself would hurt because pain comes from consciousness. If the brain can simulate a dream, it can also simulate pain, so using pain to test whether it’s a dream is not as effective as you think."

"Why didn’t you say that earlier." Hu Daoke said feeling aggrieved.

"Are you a dog? Biting yourself that hard." Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes and said.

"Looks like we can’t confirm whether we’re in a dream or not either." Hu Daoke said, touching the bitten area.

"The best way to check if it’s a dream is to see if you can run and jump." Cheng Ziang leaned against the wall, head down, and said.

"What’s the reasoning behind that?"

"When people are asleep, their limbs are relaxed, so in a dream, a person’s limbs, especially their legs, are definitely heavy as if they’re filled with lead and they can barely move. If you can run and jump, that’s not a dream; that’s sleepwalking." Cheng Ziang explained.

"So we assume it wasn’t a dream, what should we do now?" Hu Daoke asked.

"What else can we do but go back," Cheng Ziang explained, "right now just the two of us are too helpless. We need to report the situation to everyone and figure out a solution together. This experience has been very strange; the longer we stay out here, the more uneasy I feel."

"What about your gun?" Hu Daoke asked.

"What can be done about it but to return and figure something out, there is no clue right now anyway. Moreover, that thing isn’t something just anyone can handle safely; a burst chamber is still considered lucky, it’d be much worse if it misfired and shot oneself," Cheng Ziang shrugged and said.

Actually, Cheng Ziang’s worry wasn’t about a thief mishandling the gun resulting in misfire or a burst chamber. Because Yuanzi guns are very precise weapons, they absolutely cannot be treated roughly. Cheng Ziang was more worried about the thief using the gun against him.

Against the Advance Team members might still be okay, as they all knew some shield magic and could block shots. But Feng was in danger; knowing that the Dantian can act like a black hole to the Yuanzi Group, if the enemy targeted her with a shot, then she would truly be ruined.

Yet, despite saying so, Cheng Ziang still felt somewhat guilty about the lost pistol. After all, the Yuanzi gun was a confidential project of the headquarters, and if it fell into the wrong hands, the consequences would be grave.

They rested for a while, finally recovering some strength. Just when they were about to leave, the sharp-eyed Cheng Ziang immediately noticed the two men; they had already blocked the only passage in the alley, standing at the entrance and coldly sizing them up.

"Damn, they really came for us," Hu Daoke said, skillfully drawing a pistol from his bosom and aiming at the two men.

"You back off, I’ll handle them," Cheng Ziang stretched out his hand to stop Hu Daoke, then drew out the Kedal long sword from his waist.

"No, man, don’t overdo it," Hu Daoke said worriedly.

"I can tell; these guys aren’t cultivators," Cheng Ziang stared at the two men and said.

Seeing Cheng Ziang draw his sword, the two men exchanged looks and also drew their weapons from their waists.

"Be careful," Hu Daoke, holding the gun, kept retreating to provide cover for Cheng Ziang.

"Who are you, and why are you following us?" Cheng Ziang asked in a deep voice.

Facing Cheng Ziang’s interrogation, the two men did not respond at all. Once ready, they immediately raised their knives and pounced towards Cheng Ziang.

Their knives had slight curves and were about a meter long. The two moved intertwined during their charge, intending to confuse Cheng Ziang’s vision.

Faced with the two men’s trickery, Cheng Ziang was very calm. Although not a cultivator himself, he still had a swordsman for a father, so his swordsmanship might not be the best, but when it really came to a fight, these two men were not necessarily his match.

He stood his ground and took a defensive stance. This is Yalunte’s most frequently used sword technique, the so-called counterattack swordsmanship, emphasizing defense and counter-striking with a deadly blow.

The two men moved quickly and soon reached Cheng Ziang. Facing their coordinated and fierce attack, Cheng Ziang calmly initiated and swung his sword to meet them.

The Yalunte sword technique emphasizes avoiding direct contact with the weapon, but Cheng Ziang opted for contact. Because the Kedal metal blade in his hand feared no weapon, clashing swords offered no advantage to others.

Sure enough, the two were not familiar with Cheng Ziang’s method of attack, and one of them immediately raised his knife to block.

Just a single collision, like lightning, resulted in his knife breaking into two pieces, making him exclaim in surprise, "Good knife!"

Cheng Ziang didn’t care for his admiration and immediately swung his sword, easily dodging the unarmed man. Following that, his right hand made several strange gestures, then clenched into a fist and punched hard towards Cheng Ziang’s abdomen.

Caught off guard, Cheng Ziang took the punch to his abdomen and cried out in pain. The punch seemed to resonate with his internal organs, making him feel nauseous, slightly panicky and breathless.

Cheng Ziang collapsed to the ground with a cry, and seeing this, Hu Daoke’s eyes reddened, instantly he raised his gun towards the two standing men and pulled the trigger.

Set to full-auto mode, the Yuanzi gun emitted consecutive roaring sounds, the man who struck Cheng Ziang’s abdomen was hit by dense Yuanzi bursts all over his body, causing a series of explosions.

Just as Cheng Ziang had predicted, neither of the two was a cultivator, and the Yuanzi bursts exploded directly on their bodies. Despite the limited power of Yuanzi Group’s attacks, a series of small explosions still severely mangled the man, blood splattering everywhere.

However, the other man didn’t lose his defensive abilities due to his comrade’s terrible state; he saw him cleverly weaving through, dodging Hu Daoke’s gun aim and then rushing forward with a bent posture, his sharp knife thrusting towards Hu Daoke’s abdomen.
