After this incident, Luo’er had come to respect Xia Yue quite a bit more. Obviously, they couldn’t look at Xia Yue through ordinary eyes. Though she appeared to be just a teenage girl, everyone knew that her true form was, in fact, a squirming mass of flesh, and she herself was the god of this world — the kind of god whose mere action could make everyone feel utterly despondent.

In her free time, aside from meditating, Xia Yue’s favorite activity was to continuously gaze at her hands, staring at her fingers and then observing her palms, as though she was never quite satisfied with her hands and felt there was room for improvement.

"You don’t look much like a god," Luo’er said, frowning.

"Is that so," Xia Yue said, not getting angry but instead laughing cheerfully, squinting her eyes, "Actually, gods are similar to humans in many personalities. Since we are advanced artificial intelligences, we naturally must possess human-like qualities. It’s just that, unlike humans, we have discarded the weak and negative aspects of human personality."

"Like?" Luo’er asked.

"Like, desire, or, empathy..." Xia Yue said, her eyes suddenly becoming misty, then she showed an intoxicated expression, "That year, there were many gods in this world, both humans who became gods and those like us, serving Human Gods, created to be gods. Sadly, now it’s just me and Tana left... I don’t have empathy, and I don’t even feel sad, haha..."

"You’re clearly feeling sad," Luo’er said, staring at her.

"Am I?" Xia Yue paused, withdrew her gaze from her fingers, then squinted at Luo’er and said sincerely, "Thank you."

"Thank me for what?" Luo’er was somewhat baffled.

"I was thinking," Xia Yue didn’t answer his question but instead spoke to herself, "If we possessed human emotions, would we also be indecisive and impulsive like humans?"

"If you were like humans, then you would probably have weaknesses," Luo’er said.

"Like you?" Xia Yue looked at him with a smile.

"Um..." Luo’er paused momentarily, then nodded awkwardly.

"So, I wouldn’t be an invincible god then," Xia Yue said wistfully.

"You’ve always been invincible," Luo’er said.

In the understanding of the Advance Team, the gods of Otherworld were definitely the most powerful force in this world. Merely demigods were not something ordinary people could handle, let alone Xia Yue, or rather Xiapei Kam, who was a True God of this world, whose strength was indeed not to be underestimated.

"No, that would create attachments, and these attachments would limit my powers," Xia Yue’s gaze returned to her fingers.

"That would just cause a few percentage points of reduction in combat strength, I guess," Luo’er said.

Pausing for a moment, she continued, "Tana’s emotions are a hundred times richer than mine, so rich that she would violate the Ancestors’ will regardless of the cost. But has she controlled the world, or has she destroyed it? If she had been a human turned into a god, she would definitely have a strong territorial awareness, and you Earthlings would have perished the moment you entered this world, preventing a second Otherworld war from being possible. Think about it, in these days, Tana’s persecution of you, doesn’t it seem rather childish? If her desires had broken through the Ancestors’ limits, you would have been turned to ash a long time ago."

"Last time at sea, we almost got completely wiped out," Cheng Ziang suddenly interjected.

"What killed you was the seawater, the Leviathan, but definitely not Tana. She can secretly control everything, but she would never personally involve herself; this is our divine nature as gods, which, frankly speaking, is just the rule bestowed upon us by the Ancestors. A rule to maintain this world, to prevent it from falling into their past mistakes," Xia Yue explained.

"So I have a question." Baiyue looked at her and said.

"Go ahead, your question must be interesting," Xia Yue nodded lightly.

"So, if gods control the world, is it feasible for a human to become a god? Like, the Deity Creation Project in Ancient States?" Baiyue asked cautiously.

"It’s not feasible," Xia Yue responded flatly. "According to the Ancestors’ will, gods who were once human are no longer allowed in this world. They perished because of it, so absolutely will not allow such a thing to happen again."

"That means..." Baiyue hesitated.

"That means, the moment a True God is about to emerge, Tana will intervene and eliminate such a problem. These nascent Human Gods are extremely vulnerable; just dispersing the magic enveloping their souls would suffice to annihilate them," Xia Yue stated.

"So, were we just wasting our time that day in Ancient States?" Luo’er asked.

"Don’t say that; didn’t you gain a new friend?" Xia Yue said with a smile.

"Eh, new friend?" Luo’er nervously glanced at Cheng Ziang.

Xia Yue remained silent but extended her index finger and tapped in the air. The figure of Fulajie’er appeared instantaneously before everyone. Then, she flattened her palm, and Fulajie’er, unable to resist, was drawn to her palm and forced to kneel there.

"Uh, this..." Luo’er was so nervous he almost moved to act.

"Luo’er, since I have read all the memories in your mind, why do you think I wouldn’t know about this girl?" Xia Yue leaned her head, resting her chin on her hand, and gazed at Fulajie’er in her palm, asking indifferently.
