Chapter 1106: Chapter 1099: Titan Era

With a sigh, Xia Yue withdrew her gaze and, upon seeing the serious expression on Luo’er’s face, asked, "What’s the matter, are you reluctant to leave Tana?"

Luo’er clearly stiffened for a moment, then glanced at her somewhat guiltily and shook his head, saying, "Of course not..."

Seeing Luo’er’s expression, Xia Yue did not press further but revealed a meaningful smile. She extended her tender palm, barely lifted it, and the previously noisy square went instantly quiet. The excited Night Elves, no matter what, couldn’t make a sound anymore.

"Are they alright?" Luo’er looked around, worrying as he saw the dumbstruck Night Elves unable to utter a single word.

Xia Yue didn’t answer his question; instead, with a turn of her hand, the once deathly silent square grew noisy again. Only, the noise was much softer than before—it was apparent that the Night Elves realized their Sir Xiapei Kam thought them too noisy.

"That’s amazing!" Watching this unfold, Tangmo couldn’t help but exclaim sincerely.

It had to be said, the Advance Team had been grappling with the Otherworld for many years, witnessing countless spells, but they had never seen someone like Xia Yue, who could manipulate magic at will.

Although she was a god like Fulajie’er, as Xiapei Kam, Xia Yue’s control over magic was clearly much stronger. So much so that she always gave off the impression as if she had created this world herself.

"The Ancestors have already mastered the rules that govern this world, and as their heir, such trifles are beneath me," Xia Yue said, leisurely examining her own pale hand.

"But there wasn’t any disturbance in the magic, how did you do that?" Tangmo asked, puzzled.

"Who told you that manipulating magic has to create a disturbance?" Xia Yue retorted.

"This..." Tangmo fell silent, exchanging a look with Baiyue, at a loss for words.

"You Earthlings still have a lot to learn," Xia Yue remarked.

As she spoke, Xia Yue’s attention was suddenly captured by something invisible in the air. She kept turning her head, staring fixedly at something unseen. Seeing her action, Luo’er felt a tingling on his scalp and couldn’t help but ask, "What are you looking at?"

Perhaps having heard Luo’er’s words, Xia Yue quickly focused her attention back on him, then walked over, touched his chest with her hand, and showed an enigmatic smile, gently shaking her head and saying, "Nothing."

Then she hopped down from the low steps and onto the square, before turning back to call out, "Falei!"

"Present, what is your command, my great Lord?" Falei, prostrating on the ground, asked with deference.

Her reverence was heartfelt—she was so excited when she heard Xia Yue call her that she almost couldn’t speak.

"Drop the tedious formalities. You’ve had your look, now hurry up and take me away from here, to Antenisivia..." Xia Yue said, then turned her head and muttered, "Why do you insist on such a tongue-twisting name..."

"Yes, yes, I will arrange it immediately," said Falei excitedly.

"There’s no need for special preparation," Xia Yue pointed to a carriage not far away and said, "I will ride with these few guests, just start the journey right away."

"By your command!" Falei bowed once more.

On the return carriage ride, Xia Yue, as she had wished, sat together with the members of the Advance Team. She was seated by the window, with Luo’er on the opposite side.

Right now, she was propping up her chin and staring out of the window, her face showing no particular expression. Due to her presence, the members of the Advance Team were feeling tense, sitting upright and still, like being crammed in a vehicle with a leader.

"That..." Luo’er attempted to start a conversation.

"What is it?" Xia Yue occasionally looked at her own hand, and whether intentionally or not, her palm would mysteriously morph into the shape of a tentacle before reverting back again.

"That day at sea, it was you who helped us escape that peril, wasn’t it?" Luo’er asked cautiously.

Hearing his words, Xia Yue turned her head to glance at him, revealing a faint smile as she said, "At least you have some conscience, not thinking it was just a matter of luck."

"Can you really control the weather and the Leviathan at will?" Luo’er asked in surprise.

"Is it that difficult? High-level magic, like Forbidden Curses, can also change the climate," Xia Yue shrugged and said.

"Is the Leviathan... a tool left by the Ancestors to limit the people of the Otherworld?" Luo’er abruptly asked.

"Why would you think that?" Xia Yue stared at him as she asked.

"It just strikes me as odd... this kind of creature," Luo’er said hesitantly.

"Creatures like the Leviathan existed before the Ancestors were born. They should be considered the original masters of this world..." As Xia Yue spoke, she continued to gaze at her nails, seemingly quite concerned with her hands.

"But how have they lived until now? Why haven’t they perished even though the Ancestors have?" Luo’er asked, puzzled.

Hearing her words, Xia Yue stared out the window at the sky. After a long while, she let out a deep sigh and then began to speak, "At the dawn of chaos, the sky, land, and sea each were ruled by a colossal beast. There were giant beasts that soared through the skies, known as the Scouring Sky; beasts that roiled through the darkest depths, called Leviathan; and beasts that sprawled across the land, called Behemoth. There were also giants born within the forests, called Titan. It was an era ruled by titanic creatures, also known as the Titan Era..."

"And what happened after that?" Luo’er asked impatiently.

"After that, the Titans eradicated the Behemoths, conquering the land; expelled the Scouring Sky, overseeing the heavens; and beneath the nine abysses, they slaughtered the Leviathan to establish their awe. They left the remains of the Behemoth exposed, wiped from the land; forced the Scouring Sky to hide above the nine heavens, no longer daring to contend with the sun and moon; and relegated the Leviathan to stay three thousand miles from land, never daring to encroach upon the near seas. Alas, it’s a pity..." Xia Yue said, resting her chin in her hand, sighing.

"A pity what?" Luo’er asked.

"After that, the Titan race declined from their pinnacle, heading towards their downfall. The war that was to determine supremacy of the world also devastated the Titans, nearly eradicating them. Once the war ended, without any rivals left, the Titans fell into complacency and, for over ten million years thereafter, showed no further development, even their technological advancement slowed..." Xia Yue shook her head as she said.

"And then what?" Luo’er continued to ask.

"Well then," Xia Yue tilted her head, again staring at her fingers, "the Titan race perished, their bodies splintering into many small fragments, and thus, the fragments gave birth to the Ancestors. Of course, that is just a fabricated myth. The reality is, since the end of the battle for dominance among the colossal beasts, no more did such beasts dare to harass the land, and the Titans no longer needed to maintain such an imposing form. So, over the ten million years that followed, the size of the Titans diminished, eventually evolving into the Ancestors."

"So, the Ancestors are actually descendants of the Titan race?" Luo’er asked, frowning.

"Yes, you could say that," Xia Yue nodded as she responded.

"And what happened after that?" Luo’er kept on pressing.

"After that," Xia Yue thought for a moment, then said, "Somehow, the Titans who evolved into the Ancestors had an awakening and began to unite in developing, pushing forward technological progress, and ultimately created a dazzling Ancestral civilization."

"Unlike the Titans, who dominated the world through brute force, the Ancestors relied on their technology, which had developed nearly to its peak, to conquer all the colossal beasts in this world. Whether it was the Leviathans in the ocean, or the Scouring Sky beasts above the nine heavens, all were subdued by the Ancestors’ technology and willingly submitted to their rule," Xia Yue said, her eyes seemingly holding a trace of longing for that era.

"What do you mean by technology?" Luo’er asked hesitantly.

"Magic technology, all technology based on the theory of operation with magical power," Xia Yue answered.

"Then what happened later, why did the Ancestors ultimately head towards extinction?" Luo’er asked.

Xia Yue didn’t answer his question, instead fixing him with a piercing gaze that made him feel uneasy.
