Chapter 1098: Chapter 1091: The Value of Luo’er
"I hadn’t even noticed!" Upon hearing Luo’er’s explanation, Tangmo was stunned and then suddenly realized.
"You know, if you could just shift how you see me in your eyes a little bit, you’d be able to see a broader world," Luo’er said helplessly, shaking his head.
"No need, because you are my whole world!" Tangmo declared, hugging Luo’er’s arm and speaking in a cheesy manner.
Perhaps because the words were too cheesy, after she spoke, the two exchanged glances and simultaneously blushed and averted their eyes.
"Um, let’s not talk like that right now," Cheng Ziang coughed awkwardly, then looked at Luo’er and said, "I do have a question, Luo’er."
"Go ahead!" Luo’er pulled away from Tangmo and nodded.
"Since Xiapei Kam already knows our whereabouts, why hasn’t she just arranged for Night Elves to come and steal the Prime Fluid from us? This place is essentially home for Night Elves. For us, stepping onto the island is like walking into enemy territory. Logically, if Xiapei Kam intended so, she could have easily arranged a large force to intercept us. Even with Fulajie’er, I’m afraid we’d be hard-pressed to withstand them," Cheng Ziang asked, frowning slightly.
"Yes, I’ve been thinking about this too," Luo’er nodded lightly, then said seriously while lowering his head, "In my opinion, it doesn’t really matter who possesses the Prime Fluid; as soon as it’s on the island, it belongs to Xiapei Kam. So, I’m also curious as to why she didn’t just arrange for the Night Elves to hand over the Prime Fluid to her directly but instead lets us keep it and treats us courteously?"
"Does anyone have any thoughts on this?" Cheng Ziang asked, looking at the others.
"Well, I think..." Hu Daoke began.
"You just keep quiet, your bad ideas are enough—don’t get involved in this kind of discussion," Cheng Ziang waved his hand as he spoke.
"Hey, what do you mean, are you looking down on me, huh? Do you think I’m an idiot?" Hu Daoke glared at him, asking with displeasure.
"I didn’t say that; don’t describe yourself like that. I’m afraid..." Cheng Ziang struggled to hold back a laugh as he spoke.
"You little wretch, you’re asking for a beating!" Hu Daoke said through gritted teeth, rolling up his sleeves and walking toward him.
"Alright, alright, no fighting on the ship, it’s dangerous!" Luo’er said sternly as he held him back.
"Bro, you’re biased!" Hu Daoke turned around and said in a way that made everyone cringe, causing Cheng Ziang to burst into laughter, unable to help himself.
"Alright, alright, let’s solve any problems through discussion, not by fussing and fighting," Luo’er said with a wry smile, shaking his head.
"But I can’t out-talk him!" Hu Daoke complained.
"Then sort it out among yourselves later!" Luo’er suggested.
"Hmm, that makes sense!" Hu Daoke nodded and then glared threateningly at Cheng Ziang, "Brat, I’ll deal with you later!"
"Uh huh, I’ll be waiting!" Cheng Ziang nodded nonchalantly in reply.
"This matter should be left to her to resolve. It will be a bit difficult to let go, but I’ve been away for too long; it’s time for her to come out and stretch a little," Tangmo shrugged as he spoke.
The "her" he referred to was another self, also known as the woman called Momo.
Having said that, Tangmo slightly lowered his head and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, and Luo’er immediately felt a change in her demeanor.
It was strange, it seemed only Luo’er noticed the subtle changes in Tangmo’s demeanor. Other people, including Baiyue, who was as close as a sister, struggled to detect them.
When Tangmo opened her eyes again, Luo’er noticed that the corners of her eyes seemed slightly lifted, and her gaze had become sharper. The moment she looked up at Luo’er, a gloomy expression appeared on her face, and then she suddenly hugged Luo’er by the neck.
"Momo..." Luo’er, being hugged, involuntarily bent down and glanced at Baiyue with a guilty look, then tried to loosen her grip.
"We haven’t seen each other for so long, and you don’t miss me at all," Tangmo said gloomily.
"I didn’t say I didn’t miss you. Aren’t you always with me?" Luo’er replied with a wry smile as he loosened her grip.
"That’s my sister. When you look at her, you should clearly feel that she is not me. You can’t see my shadow in her eyes!" Tangmo stared at him, her face still showing her gloominess.
"Are you... jealous of your sister?" Luo’er asked with a wry smile.
"Yes!" Tangmo nodded lightly, openly admitting it.
"Ah, you two sisters really are..." Luo’er started to speak but then stopped.
"These words are meant for certain people, certain people who pride themselves on being loving sisters while hogging all the advantages unwilling to budge, making their so-called little sisters just stare in longing," Tangmo said sternly, shifting her gaze away. Her intention was obvious: she was dissing her sister Moumou.
"This..." Luo’er didn’t know what to say.
"Ah, don’t comfort me. If certain people feel guilty, they should let me stay a few more days instead of occupying Luo’er for months on end without willing to leave," Tangmo said melancholically while looking at her palms.
With that said, Luo’er remembered that ever since they had gone to the Snow Domain, Momo’s appearances had become pitifully rare, and most of the time, she could only watch Luo’er and Moumou flirtatiously bantering.
Though they were one entity, the personalities within them differed greatly in their feelings towards Luo’er, just like two sisters sharing one game account, with each sister having a different understanding of the game, thus treating the account very differently.
"You are here to analyze, not to complain," Baiyue stepped forward with a stern face and spoke glumly.
"Jealous?" Tangmo looked at her and inexplicably smiled.
"What do you think?" Baiyue narrowed her eyes and said coldly.
"Alright, alright, let’s focus on solving the problem, no more flirting with Luo’er," Tangmo shrugged, making a concession.
While speaking, she took a deep breath and then slightly furrowed her brow, beginning to analyze the situation that Luo’er was facing. Her hand unintentionally brushed across Luo’er’s chest, sending a shiver down his spine.
"Think all you want, but no touching," Baiyue said displeasedly.
"What do you know, this is called tactile thinking," Tangmo argued.
"Never heard of it," Baiyue shook her head.
"You can use it in the future!" Tangmo said, smiling despite Luo’er’s embarrassed expression.
After pondering for a moment, she suddenly had a spark of inspiration and looked towards Luo’er, then took his face in her hands.
"Please, no touching," Luo’er said, half laughing and half crying, as he grabbed her hands.
"I think I’ve figured it out, the unique thing about Luo’er!" Tangmo said with a smile.
"What’s unique about me?" Luo’er blinked and asked.
"To us, you are the most unique," Tangmo said affectionately.
"This..." Luo’er felt shy once more.
"Of course, you are unique to Xiapei Kam as well," Tangmo continued.
"Xiapei Kam doesn’t fancy our boss too, does it?" Hu Daoke couldn’t help but wonder aloud.
"Keep it down," Cheng Ziang, sweating coldly, glanced around and then glared at him, "Thank goodness you spoke in Chinese; otherwise, the Night Elves here would’ve bashed you up by now."
"Of course not," Tangmo rolled her eyes, dispelling the unease that had just risen in Baiyue.
"Then what is it?" Luo’er pulled her hands down from his face, then asked curiously.
"You," Tangmo broke free from his grip and pressed her finger to Luo’er’s chest, pointing at him, "you have established a link with Tana; that must be the reason Xiapei Kam hasn’t driven us away!"
"This..." Tangmo’s words were enlightening for everyone, but soon they harbored new doubts, "But, is that really the case?"
"Of course," Tangmo nodded and explained to the skeptical crowd, "Do you think, how many Elves, let alone a Half-elf like Luo’er, could establish a link with Tana? If not for a certain confluence of opportunities, he wouldn’t even know Tana."
"That means..." Luo’er suddenly understood.
"Yes, it’s precisely because Luo’er has this coincidental trait that he has gained acceptance from Xiapei Kam and also from the Night Elves. Luo’er is a Half-elf, which cuts off his connection with Ilanadale by identity, yet he is the one with a link to Tana. I think Xiapei Kam must appreciate these traits of his, which is why he hasn’t driven us away," Tangmo explained.
