Chapter 45 - 42 Facing Ancient Chaos
Chapter 45: Chapter 42 Facing Ancient Chaos
An indescribable astonishment surged into the eldest son’s mind, causing the heir to the kingdom to no longer stand firm and fall to the ground, fear, chaos...all sorts of emotions intermingled.
King Sapo continued to stroke the pale Dragon Bone.
He saw his eldest son fall backward but did not reach out to catch his own child.
The King’s gaze still lingered on the Dragon Bone.
"You do not know what I have dreamed of... I dreamed of Al’s child, Yarlessto, sitting on the throne that belonged to me, wielding my authority, ruling over the people of Logos."
It seemed more as if King Sapo was talking to himself rather than to his eldest son.
"You also do not know, I prayed in the torrential rain for God’s selection, soaking and trembling, helpless, yet God’s selection never came."
"Before that, God had appeared before us several times, why didn’t He come to me personally and choose me that time?"
"He never chose me! He only chose my brother, who ascended the high mountain!"
The eldest son listened in horror—if possible, he hoped he was deaf, then he would crawl away.
Because
his own father, the king...
was blaspheming.
King Sapo stroked the pale Dragon Bone with eyes full of affection, as if the Dragon Bone were his child, not the eldest son beside him.
"So, one day, those loyal Hunters brought this Dragon Bone to me."
"They said that the Dragon Bone could restore youth; I didn’t believe, until... I personally stabbed a servant to death upon it."
"Then I was rejuvenated, the past came back to me, I regained the strength to throw a spear, I could personally fight the fearsome beasts you all feared, and even establish a new kingdom!"
The King slowly turned his face, gazing directly at his eldest son.
"Even... establish a new god."
The eldest son stared at his father, astounded. What was his father doing? Wasn’t he the first man endowed with speech? What exactly was he saying? Isn’t it because of the gods that we, the people of Logos, possess reason?"
Huge doubts mingled with fear crowded the eldest son’s heart.
Reluctantly, King Sapo moved his hands away from the Dragon Bone and slowly walked forward, his tall shadow casting over his eldest son.
"You do not know what I saw after touching this Dragon Bone."
The eldest son trembled with fear and stammered:
"What, what? King... What did you see?"
"A new god."
King Sapo’s shadow was so tall that the eldest son could not see his facial expression.
"It was a black mist like Chaos, from within I saw a shapeless being, ancient, older than any mountain in the world, revealing to me—It was once the sovereign of all things."
King Sapo narrated each word clearly, the eldest son detected... devotion in his voice.
He lowered his head, gazing at his son’s frightened eyes.
"I want to tell you, the original god, the old god, gave us language but did not grant us Eternal Life!"
"The absence of Eternal Life in reason is so painful, plunging the entire kingdom into unease."
"This is not grace, this is suffering."
"And now, a new god has come, a god that grants Eternal Life, a truly magnificent god!"
The eldest son watched his father trembling, seeing madness and the zeal of a convert in his eyes.
King Sapo faced the Dragon Bone and knelt down, showing a zealot’s humility.
He kissed the Dragon Bone and fervently proclaimed:
"That which is called the Prophet extinguished the fire, saying there is nothing in this world that could symbolize the old god."
"And this, this Dragon Bone that brings Eternal Life, is the image of the new god!"
"Sacrifice, submit... the old god slowly peels away from our hearts,"
"The original god showed us no grace, yet the new revelation has already descended!"
Many years later, in the historical records edited by Yarlessto.
There was a volume named "Book of Kings and Prophets."
It recorded as follows:
The apocalypse is upon us,
The King scorned the gods for not choosing him.
Why did all peoples fight ceaselessly as the apocalypse loomed, dancing wildly around the Dragon Bone?"
Because of the revelation of the god, the selection of the god... was misinterpreted, overlooked by the King.
However...
The King did not know,
The miracles visible to the naked eye are not grace,
Only those manifested in the soul are blessings.

The sea whipped up small waves, pushing the canoe toward the Ancient Chaos.
Yarlessto had awakened, and fortunately, relying on the tenacious vitality of the Logos people, the bleeding from his wrist had stopped.
Al looked at his child, his sunken eyes still red, yet he remained silent.
As did Yarlessto, he didn’t speak a word, just quietly picked up the paddle.
It was a fitting silence between father and son, an unspoken understanding.
Waves slid past either side of the canoe as they headed toward the Ancient Chaos.
Yarlessto stared at the Ancient Chaos, and for some reason, perhaps it was an illusion, he felt the canoe was moving much faster than usual.
The Ancient Chaos also grew closer and closer.
Prophet Al occasionally turned his head to look at the Ancient Chaos.
The hearts of both father and son, due to approaching the Ancient Chaos, grew increasingly exhilarated.
However, before that, they had to resolve their own issues.
They were so famished that they were nothing but skin and bones.
Al frowned, unsure how much longer they could endure this journey. Perhaps not even a day.
