Chapter 368: Chapter 324 The Birth of Mira
Love God Lian Xidi.
She was the first deity to be born after descending from Heaven.
At that time, the Love God reached out her hand, and Chen Yi on the throne touched that hand.
From then on, the Love God frequently visited Heaven above, and the angels often saw Lian Xidi in the company of the God on the throne, who bestowed upon her infinite tenderness and warmth.
God taught Love God Lian Xidi as He had once instructed the Great Angels.
The angels naturally welcomed this deity; in fact, due to various reasons, the angels had some prejudices against the Gods, but towards Love God Lian Xidi, they showed an uncharacteristically friendly attitude, partly because of the Lord’s affection for Lian Xidi, and partly because she was undeniably a pure and moving goddess.
Lian Xidi was born from the Star of Love, which, before descending upon Heaven, had accumulated all kinds of love, whether familial, friendly, or romantic, and even love that defied convention was amassed within the star.
But it always lacked a unique kind of love.
After Shan’en died, the star awakened its self-awareness, and Lian Xidi came into Heaven, meeting the God on the throne.
At that moment, Lian Xidi’s first words were,
"Why am I so sad?"
Chen Yi did not answer Lian Xidi but embraced this new child within His arms.
Without a doubt, Lian Xidi’s arrival brought many changes to Heaven, and the angels regarded her as one of the Great Angels, while the Great Angels themselves gladly accepted this deity from the Celestial Kingdom.
Since Heaven’s descent, it was not only angels that existed there, but also mortals. In this place, because of the soul’s sake, carnal desires did not exist, and mortals enjoyed various blessings, reveling in this place of abundance. Sensitive by nature, the Love God found joy in their happiness.
Seeing this, Schiller whispered to Maisy,
"I had thought... the Love God might be the kind... the kind associated with sexual desire among men and women."
Maisy shook her head and said,
"The Love God... should be the sum of all love, not just sensual desire. The wise among mortals say that spiritual love is the highest form of love."
Schiller found much truth in this.
The Great Angels embraced this deity and built her a special dwelling place. Lian Xidi was also grateful for the Great Angels’ efforts, and they often kissed each other’s foreheads as the closest of siblings would do.
An important reason why Love God Lian Xidi was considered part of the Great Angels was that, like the other Great Angels, she would sometimes kneel before the throne to pray.
Undoubtedly, this newborn Love God was bathed in God’s radiance, sharing in the grace of the angels.
On her was not only her own formidable power but also the Divine Power of God.
The Great Angels were perplexed and curious about Lian Xidi’s behavior. A Divine being already possessing their own Divine Power, yet she desired to embrace the Lord’s immense power, which was truly baffling.
Solamus thus asked the God on the throne.
Chen Yi was gazing at Lian Xidi, who stood somewhat dazedly on the Cloud Sea, seemingly looking at something unknowable.
"Solamus, I will not peer into Her heart, just as I shall not peer into yours.
Let Lian Xidi do what She wishes," God said.
Those casual words fell upon Solamus’ ears, and the Angel Leader was immensely reassured. Since God had spoken thus, let it be up to Him.
After all, with God present, nothing could really go wrong.
---
One day, Love God Lian Xidi suddenly disappeared from Heaven.
At first, no one took notice of Lian Xidi’s departure, as this deity did not always stay in Heaven but would occasionally return to her own star.
However, as many days passed and Heaven had yet to see the figure of Lian Xidi, those angels who cared for the Love God couldn’t help but feel concerned, fearing that some mishap might have befallen her.
Over time, even the Great Angels couldn’t help but discuss the matter. Having been in each other’s company for so long, they had come to see Lian Xidi as a friend, or even as a sibling. They worried about Lian Xidi’s situation, and Kara had even sought God for guidance.
God had only said,
"Lian Xidi is fine. I have always been watching over Them."
While the Great Angels were worried about Lian Xidi who had left Heaven, the Love God wandered the Mortal World.
They found a place like an earthly paradise and took temporary respite there.
It was a place that would not be disturbed by anyone.
For the Gods of the Celestial Kingdom, there was one major event that countless Divine beings aspired to:
Creating a race.
To create one’s own race was akin to how the Father had once created the Logos by endowing them with language.
Lian Xidi also longed to create Their own race, or to put it differently, Their own child.
They stood before a lake, whose waters were broad and clear. In this undisturbed and untrodden paradise, it was as if they were in the realm of the heavens.
The Love God raised Their left hand, and the cosmic light of the stars shone brightly. Divine Power converged at Their fingertips. Then, They raised Their right hand, divine grace belonging to the Angels obeying Their command, gathering in Their palm and forming a pure white orb of light.
The fingertip of the left hand gently approached the orb of light in the right hand, and then, as if reenacting the moment when Chen Yi once touched Lian Xidi, the fingertip made contact with the orb of light, and the two different sources of great power instantly melted together, without any repulsion, as smoothly as water dissolving into water.
The Love God Lian Xidi guided the further merging and blending of the two forces, from morning to evening, from evening to morning, through spring and autumn, one after another.
The process was tedious; creating a race was rarely achieved in one fell swoop, otherwise there would have been no need for Hiris to have taken so long to create giants and dwarves.
Serenity was the norm of each day.
Until... a surprise encounter with Lian Xidi occurred in a certain moment when the sunshine poured down.
That strange orb of light was floating in the water.
Lian Xidi looked at the orb of light before them, their eyes filled with love.
Their race had been born.
Their child had come into the world.
This orb of light was strange yet holy, with the two different sources of great power inextricably intertwined, nurturing the embryonic life within.
It was a child, lying within the sacred orb of light, floating above the water’s surface, like a baby in amniotic fluid.
Lian Xidi patiently awaited it.
I know not how many days and nights passed but, from within the orb of light, a faint breath could be heard. The sound was very weak, yet it was as though it were chanting a hymn. If you listened carefully, you would feel like your soul was being cleansed.
Lian Xidi revealed a smile. They stepped into the water and cradled this infant floating in the water.
This child was Their race.
Now, within this race, there was only it, alone.
Lian Xidi had created it, but They didn’t insist on it continuing Their race; the Love God believed that continuing the race was merely a selfish desire of one’s own, not a wish of the child.
For this reason, Lian Xidi left this choice up to the child to decide.
Inside the orb of light, the child struggled and kicked against the light enveloping itself, like a baby about to be born, restless at every moment.
Lian Xidi tenderly embraced it, until it broke free from the constraints of the orb of light and met the first ray of sunshine on its face.
"Mira."
"Child, from now on, you shall be called Mira."
