Chapter 94: A shocker

"Before this argument leads to something worse, let me get out of here." Mrs. Tani said, making everyone’s eyes turn to her as she walked towards the door.

She stopped beside Quizen, a disgruntled look on her face while shooting him a glance, "If you’re planning to take Mrs. Hughes home, it would be best if you won’t handle her that rough."

"I have never been treated by my mediator like that, even if I were mean to him when we first got married." Mrs. Tani bellowed to him, shaking her head as if she was disappointed at the mediator.

"Just like what my sister in law had said, Coco Hughes is a different person now." She stated, agreeing to Jacques previous statement about Coco changing for the better.

"Stop treating her like she was the same trash befor—" Mrs. Tani had cut herself off when she heard someone gasping.

"Hold on!" Coco exclaimed all of a sudden which made everyone turn their attention to her and saw how she looked so shocked, as if she had just found out about something mind blowing.

"You’re Jacques’ what? Sister in law?!" Coco raised a hand and covered her mouth as she pointed a finger at Mrs. Tani, her eyes wide in surprise.

"Yes..?" Mrs. Tani answered Coco’s question with a puzzled look plastered on her face, "My husband, Joachim, is Jacques’ twin brother so that turns her into my sister in law."

Another gasp escaped Coco’s lips, "Not just a normal sibling, but a twin sibling?! No wonder I thought he looked familiar when I first saw him! It was because they were twins! And here I thought I was imagining things!"

"You didn’t know I have a twin brother?" Jacques asked, tilting her head.

The argument she had with Quizen was temporarily forgotten as she smiled softly towards her friend, finding her enthusiasm, after learning that she has a twin brother, adorable.

"I didn’t." Coco confessed, looking slightly guilty for a moment before the same smile Jacques’ had appeared on her face, "But I know now, and it’s one of the shocking things I found out lately! Really!"

"It’s a little shocking to find out that you didn’t know Jacques is related to Joachim." Mrs. Tani commented as she pressed a palm on her cheek, "Jacques and Joachim are the only ones who have a beautiful shade of pink hair in this village, you know?"

Coco blinked and cocked her head to the side.

Now that Mrs. Tani mentioned it, Coco had never looked at other people except for those whom she interacted with.

She doesn’t know what’s the common hair color in this world because she always leaves the village and gets back late, and she doesn’t talk to anyone else other than Jacques, Renaldo, Zaque, Heiren, Alhai, and Quizen.

Mrs. Tani and Mr. Tani were just recently added to the people she interacts with frequently so she’s quite clueless.

"I didn’t know." Coco answered truthfully as she rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly, a look of embarrassment clear in her face, "I don’t have friends here and I rarely talk to people.. So, I wasn’t aware."

Mrs. Tani and Jacques felt their heart strings getting tugged at how sincere and pitiful Coco looked before them.

Hearing Coco’s words made them want to hug her, but they were beaten by the garden fairy who flew to Coco’s head, red eyes glossed with unshed tears that escaped her eyes the moment she opened her mouth.

"Waaaahh! Coco!" Lala cried out, her tears streaming down her cheeks as she embraced Coco’s head, "Don’t worry! I’ll always be here for you and won’t leave you! I’ll be your friend forever!"

Of course, Mrs. Tani and Jacques didn’t know that someone was already comforting Coco.

"It’s okay, Coco." Jacques assured the black haired woman with a small smile, "I’m your friend now so you don’t have to worry about that kind of thing anymore."

Coco perked up, her eyes snapping up from the floor to Jacques’ face with a hopeful and thankful look in her face.

The room was filled with a light and fuzzy atmosphere, but it was broken by the blue haired mediator standing by the doorway.

"Can’t believe that you would want to be her friend." Quizen opened his mouth and ruined the entire fluffy mood.

Jacques turned to him, obviously irked by his disturbance, "Why don’t you go home and get lost? My husband will bring the food to your house if that’s why you’re here!"

"That’s not the reason why I’m here." Quizen retorted, his eyebrows furrowed.

".. Annnnd I’m out." Mrs. Tani announced as she walked past Quizen, her footsteps light and quick, making her way down the hall to get to the staircase.

"If you’re not here for the food then why are you here?" Coco asked after a minute of silence.

Quizen looked back at Coco, his eyes shifting from the retreating form of Mrs. Tani and glanced at his wife who was standing a couple of feet away.

"Zaque invited you to dinner." He said, voice void of emotion.

"I already rejected his invitation.. I told him that I will be having with Jacques and Renaldo." Coco informed him, sighing deeply.

Is that the only reason why Quizen came by and made a scene all of a sudden? Out of nothing?

"Oh.." Quizen blinked, a look of realization setting in his face, "So that’s why he wants you to be at the dinner table by tonight.. Because you told him you will be eating with Jacques."

"Yes..? Is there something wrong with her?" Coco frowned.

"Nothing’s wrong with her, but he doesn’t know who Jacques is so he must have thought that you’re planning to replace us with her." He responded with a straight face, clearly not amused with the misunderstanding.

"What?" Jacques exclaimed.

"He doesn’t know you and could care less who you are." Quizen was quick to restore Zaque’s honor.

"Then, he shouldn’t have assumed!"
