New World with Four Husbands -
Chapter 93: Argument
Chapter 93: Argument
"You can’t take her away!" The pink haired woman screamed, her eyes squinted into a glare as she stomped her way towards Coco and her husband.
Jacques snatched Coco’s free wrist and tugged the black haired woman behind her, tucking her away from the blue haired mediator’s sight.
"If she doesn’t want to come with you then don’t force her! Can’t you see that she’s injured? She needs to rest right this instant, you ungrateful mediator!" Jacques exclaimed, pushing Coco towards Mrs. Tani who was quick to catch her.
Coco could only blink, the sudden turns of events giving her a whiplash.
"Force her? For all I know, she might be dying to come back to the house right now." Quizen said, sneering down on the woman.
"Dying to come back? She won’t be staying here if she wants to go back to that house! No provider would want to come back to a house where she’s not welcomed!" Jacques sneered back, not backing down.
Just because Quizen is taller than and has a bigger build than her doesn’t mean she’ll turn her head away!
Her friend had expressed to her and her husband that she doesn’t feel comfortable in her own house and would rather rent a room in the inn!
It has been a week since she started staying at the rented room and even asked Renaldo to deliver things to Coco’s house.
If that was how things were between Coco and her husbands then wouldn’t she hate to be dragged back to the house she’s not welcomed into?
"Ha?" Quizen’s eyebrows furrowed and stared down at the woman, "What kind of spouses or mediators would welcome their abuser back to their house? Coco left the house to her own accord, but we didn’t ask her to leave the house."
"But you’re taking everything she gives you and the other mediators?" Jacques asked, frowning deeply.
"Yes, because that’s her job." Quizen stated and shot a glare at Coco’s head, she had her back turned on him because the merchant was holding her head in her hands, "It’s something she should have done the moment she married us."
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
The fourth husband snapped his gaze away from Coco and shifted it to the source of the bell ringing.
At first, he was confused because there was no possible way that a bell would be ringing so loud indoors with the other two women standing inside the room as if they can’t hear a thing.
But then, a familiar small creature flew to his face.
The fairy was glaring, her face flushed with color as she jotted her finger down on his nose several times.
The action tickled him.
"You’re unbelievable." Jacques’ voice that was dripping with astonishment and disbelief had snapped Quizen out of his daze, making him look past the fairy’s huffing figure to look at the pink haired woman before him.
"I can’t believe you." Jacques scoffed and shook her head, "Isn’t it obvious that Coco had started to change? Yet, she’s still being treated like this?"
Quizen frowned and mirrored her gesture, scoffing at her as well, "Why are you so hell bent on protecting a trash like her? Didn’t she try to beat up your husband before because he looked at her and asked to be quiet? Yet, you’re right here, protecting her?"
Coco’s body went stiff at what she heard.
"She tried." Jacques said, giving an emphasis on the second word as her glare returned to her face, "She didn’t try again because she changed."
"She changed?" Quizen raised an eyebrow at her, "She already tried to show us she changed one time, but guess what? She just went back to drinking and came back to do that monstrous thing to Alhai, and it was much worse than the last one."
Coco pursed her lips, pulling her head away from Mrs. Tani’s hands and turning around to face Quizen.
"She tried to fool us." The fourth husband started with a strange calm tone, "But came back to bag Alhai and leave him to die. If it weren’t for Heiren and Zaque, he would be ten feet beneath the floor by now."
Jacques knew that.
She knew what happened to the poor mediators legally bonded to Coco Hughes.
She knew that and yet..
She knew that Coco had truly changed for the better— no, it felt like the old Coco Hughes had died and was reborn again to become a better person this time.
Coco Hughes, who has asked her husband to be her business partner, was so cheerful, patient, and enthusiastic to earn money unlike the old version of her who doesn’t want to do anything to get money.
She just has a feeling that Coco Hughes is another person and was meant to be her friend, one way or another.
She can’t explain it in words, but the Coco Hughes behind her right now? She would do anything and everything to protect her honor.
After all the generosity Coco had shown them, Coco did not expect for anything else, but to be her friend.
So, how could she keep that grudge she had from before when Coco had been nothing, but a thoughtful and caring friend towards her and her husband?
"Guess what?" Jacques said, perking up and smiling at Quizen which sent a cold chill down his spine.
"What..?" The blue haired mediator murmured, the previous strange composure he had was thrown out of the window and got replaced with anxiety.
After all, Jacques was known for her sucked punches.
"I don’t care about all that because Coco is a different person now." Jacques taunted him, the smile on her face was the smile she always has before punching someone to another dimension.
Hearing her words had made Coco and the fairy freeze, their eyes went as wide as saucers while turning their heads to look at the woman.
"How foolish." Quizen said with a click of his tongue, "I didn’t even come here to argue."
